Building a new home or renovating an existing one can be an exciting project. Yet, there are so many decisions that need to be made it can easily feel overwhelming. There is so much information available (some legitimate, some suspect) and choices to make. From the multitude of window choices, siding options, shingle types available to decisions concerning style, functionality and efficiency of products this “exciting project” can quickly turn into a stressful burden. Even a relatively small project can grow to be major headache.

The Real Home Show organizers realize that building, improving and renovating a home can be a confusing time. That’s why they have created a space where you can feel comfortable to browse products, speak to experts and get professional advice all under one roof.

“The Real Home Show gives people a chance to consult with a large variety of the region’s best professional builders, renovators and vendors,” says Mike Connors, owner of Capstone Building Products Distribution Ltd. “It’s a comfortable, pressurefree opportunity to view quality products up close and ask questions. It’s also a great way for local contractors to find out about the latest resources and suppliers.”

From aluminum railing systems to composite decking, Capstone will have samples and information on the advantages and details of the products. “Composite decking has become a home-building standard,” says Connors. “There are the sustainability advantages because you get the look and feel of wood without the environmental impact” says Connors. “But composite decks are also longlasting and don’t require the same amount of maintenance as a wooden deck, but still maintain an attractive appeal. They resist fading, staining and scratches.”

Increasingly, manufacturers are coming up with a ‘designer series’ of roofing products, adds Connors. “We distribute shingles from quality companies like IKO, Owens Corning and GAF. These roofing products are known for being weather-resistant while coming in classic to modern styles to suit a variety of tastes - the ‘artisan-crafted’ woodshake-like shingle that looks like authentic wood but withstands the harshest elements has been very popular.” Connors is looking forward to Capstone’s tenth year at The Real Home Show.
