Alarge part of a home’s attractiveness depends on first impressions, and what greater first is there than the front door? The entry to a home is so important – from ease of use, to ease of maintenance, to being visually pleasing. And great quality doors and windows of a home not only increase energy efficiency, but also overall value. In fact, The American company Therma-Tru released results of a 2016 study that showed home buyers would pay approximately 4.2% more (or on average$18,750) for a home with an eye-catching front door!

“There is no doubt that doors and windows can increase the value of a home,” says Bob Wood, president of Dartmouth’s Revolution Windows and Doors Ltd. And when it comes to doors,

it’s no longer about plain, utilitarian white. “People are looking for something special.” He adds that Pella, a product line his company supplies, now offers a swatch of vibrant and bright colours from which to choose.

When it comes to doors, the front is important, but it’s not everything. A stop by the Revolution Windows and Doors display will prove that, with examples of the Laflamme brand that offers patio doors (including PVC doors, heating patio doors and wood doors) as well as steel doors, garden doors and fiberglass doors. Be sure to check out their booth at The Real Home Show, which will be staffed with experts who can discuss window and door options with you, as well as how to have them installed.

RONA will also be at the show this year, and their partnership with Kohltech Windows and Doors offers one the most comprehensive choice of products in the market today. Kohltech Windows and Doors is a premier window and door company that offers many options, from new construction down to the smallest renovation project. One of only two window and door companies registered in Canada as passive certified, the locallyowned Kohltech leads this designation in Atlantic Canada.

RONA, with their professional and knowledgeable sales teams, offers one of the largest professional installation crews for all window and door projects, as well as a range of other professional installation services which will be

highlighted at the show, including roofing, decks, siding and more. Drop by the RONA booth to see displays of Kolhtech Tilt/Turn profile doors (Custom and Standard sizes available), exterior painting options and custom patio door options.

And don’t worry, The Real Home Show has not forgotten about how you can dress up your new windows and doors. Direct 2 U Blinds & Awnings will be displaying a multitude of different window applications, both manual and motorized, along with outdoor awnings and outdoor roller shades. Talk about curb appeal!

“Inside or out, it’s important to have the right window solutions,” says Direct 2 U owner Jennifer Allan. “At our booth you will find product information on top leading window treatment suppliers like Graber, Hunter Douglas and Maxxmar, but more exciting, we will be displaying our very own line of window treatments, manufactured right here in Nova Scotia, custom made to order.”

“Choosing the right window treatment can be daunting, especially if you aren’t aware of all the latest options,” says Allan. “For bedrooms or bathrooms, you will want to look at horizontal blinds, roller shades or faux wood to allow security and privacy concerns to be met. In the family room you may want sheer weave roller shades, woven woods or vertical blinds that can effectively and stylishly eliminate glare on your television and computer screens.”

“And a great trend for kitchens are modern faux wood blinds, aluminum blinds or blinds that have a smooth, painted finish that are easier to keep clean and tidy.”

As outdoor living rooms are such a popular trend right now, Direct 2 U Blinds & Awnings will be also be displaying an exterior roller shade, introducing people to an alternative option for gazebos, screen porches and other outdoor spaces. Be sure to stop by their booth to learn about all these options.
