Greenville went through some struggles last year with a young team. The Trojans won just three games, but they gained valuable experience and grew as a team. Greenville brings back seven starters on offense and seven starters on defense. The Trojans will have to replace leading rusher Brady Gentile, along with linemen Nick Jones and Trey Wilt, running back/linebacker Ian Porter and wide receiver/defensive back Joe Arana. Gentile ran for 1,076 yards and 15 touchdowns and he led Greenville with 16 catches for 159 yards last fall. The Trojans bring back Griffin Richardson, Aaron Solderich and Garrett Hillard on the offensive line with Justin Harbaugh at tight end, Blair Paxton at wide receiver and Jon King at quarterback. Paxton caught 12 passes for 204 yards and four touchdowns, and King threw for 389 yards and five touchdowns. Greenville also returns Solderich at defensive tackle, Richardson and Harbaugh at defensive end, King at strong safety, Isaac Sasala and Paxton at cornerback and Kaleb Achuff at linebacker. King and Achuff were second on the team with 63 tackles, and Sasala had two interceptions. Greenville has experience on the line and skill positions, but having King back to lead the team is crucial. The Trojans will need to find several players to replace Gentile’s production as he led the team in rushing yards, receptions and tackles. Caden Loutzenhiser and Levi Swartz are candidates to earn carries at running back, while Brayden DiFrischia, Ross Swartz, Cole Karpinski and Anthony Gentile could add depth to the lines. Greenville had been a region contender for years before the Trojans went through a rebuilding year with a young team. If Greenville can find a new leader to replace Gentile, the Trojans could be a team to watch this fall.
