Farrell put together one of its best seasons in the storied history of its program. The Steelers not only won the PIAA Class 1A championship, they became the first team in school history to win a state title with an undefeated record. A big part of the state championship was the record-breaking senior class. Pitt recruit Kyi Wright threw for 1,746 yards and 29 touchdowns to just two interceptions and ran for 717 yards and 14 touchdowns. Christian Lewis ran for 2,470 yards and 34 touchdowns and is the all-time rusher in school history. Lewis is at Albany, while Jourdan Townsend, a Delaware commit, caught 73 passes for 1,302 yards and 24 touchdowns. Tymir Green was voted to the all-region first team at all-purpose, while Kobe Hilton, a Miami (Ohio) recruit, and Dashon Sims were first-team linemen. Elijah Harper was an all-region defensive back for the Steelers as well. Farrell had the No. 1 offense and No. 1 defense in District 10 last year. The Steelers scored 51.9 points per game and allowed 7.8 points per game. In addition to the senior class leaving, Farrell also lost its coach as Jarrett Samuels moved on to a college job. Farrell has a new coach in longtime assistant coach Anthony Pegues, who is hoping to lead the Steelers on another long playoff run. Farrell won’t exactly have to rebuild this season. The Steelers had a loaded junior class last year, including all-region selections Brian Hilton (wide receiver, defensive line, kicker), Gary Satterwhite (offensive line), Gary Hopson (offensive line, defensive line), Tyrie Hammonds (linebacker), Melvin Hobson (offensive line) and Juwon Samuels (defensive back). The Steelers also return Christian Hartley at quarterback, as well as speedster Jaden Harrison, who ran for 748 yards and eight touchdowns. Farrell had a once-in-a-lifetime senior class last year, but the proud Steelers program could be poised to defend its state championship.
