The Quickening Speed of Progress

Just as we’re going to print on this issue, New Mexico’s Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage, making the state the 17th to make same-sex marriage legal. And while it’s possible something could happen between now and the end of 2013, I think this is a nice cap on what’s been a landmark year for the legalization of same-sex marriage. To put it in perspective: on December 31, 2012, same-sex marriage was legal and effective in eight states, not including California’s state of limbo on the issue. Maryland had also made same-sex marriage legal, but couples weren’t able to marry in 2012. Here’s what’s happened this year: •

Maryland’s law went into effect, allowing for same-sex couples to marry;

Rhode Island, Delaware, Minnesota, New Jersey and Hawaii have made same-sex marriage both legal and effective;

California’s ban was deemed unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, making same-sex marriage legal again in the state; and

Illinois and New Mexico made same-sex marriage legal, though couples aren’t allowed to marry until 2014 in Illinois, and no date has been given for New Mexico at press time.

In other words, the number of states where same-sex marriage is legal in some form nearly doubled within the last 12 months. While it’s still going to take some time for marriage equality to spread through the country, it’s remarkable seeing the quickening speed of progress.

I can remember when I first moved to Georgia, I was a total wreck. I have diabetes, hypertension, depression, prostate cancer survivor, chest pains, arthritis — you name it I had it. When I first arrived at Pride Medical they checked me out and put me on medication, and gave me their recommendations. I put my trust in them and my health began to improve. I will never forget when I started to show an improvement Dr. Anisman sent me the biggest barrel of yellow mums with a note of how proud he was with my improvements. No other doctor had ever done anything like this for me before or put my welfare first. Later I started seeing Dr. David Morris; he is the most passionate and concerned person. He listens intently, asks all pertinent questions, and makes sure you feel comfortable. And Pride Medical has other physicians and specialists to assist you. It is like one-stop shopping, including prescriptions. I have been a patient there since 1995. Nothing or no one could persuade me to go to another practice.

I

Backstage with Chaunté Wayans

t was a very cold night. Folks were roasting chestnuts (or putting them in the microwave if they didn’t have a fireplace), tiny tots were drinking coffee to stay awake, and Chaunté Wayans and I were at the comedy club making folks laugh. While it was her turn to go on stage, I started to reflect on a few things. I loved her from the first time I saw her on stage and thinking “Yes ma’am, another black lesbian comedian that I’ve seen in the Atlanta comedy scene (I met Julie Osborne first).“ After running into her later at various other comedy spots, I finally caught on that she is also a member of the famous Wayans family. Aside from touring with her uncles Shawn and Marlon Wayans, appearing on TLC’s series Trading Spaces, and being a regular on MTV’s Wild N Out, she recently did a special guest appearance on my variety show at The Laughing Skull and we’ve been cool ever since. Once she got off stage, I felt it was time for us to chat! Tell us what inspired you to do comedy, and how long have you been doing it? After I saw my cousin, Lil Damon, perform at the HAHA in California, I went home that night and couldn’t sleep because I thought of two jokes that I thought were hilarious. That was the beginning of discovering my creative side, which was about 11 years ago. Any of your family members give you any advice on comedy? My uncle, Shawn Wayans, taught me how to find my funny. For hours we would watch comedy specials together to see why I thought something was funny or not. Afterwards I would practice some of my jokes on him…in which he gave me crickets. But instead of booing me out his house, he helped me figure out how to structure the jokes better. Do you get any flack/feedback for being the first “lesbian comedian” in your family? Feedback? My family is full of comedians so you know they always got jokes! It’s cool, because I love the idea of being the first lesbian comedian in our family. That would be like

“first woman in space” or “first woman president.” Not really, but you know what I mean. But for now, what’s your New Years Resolution for 2014? Brent, I hate New Year’s resolutions probably because I never stick to them. I feel like if you really want to change, just do it. Besides, whenever I say something I won’t do, I do it more. (Laughs) Well, it’s time for me to go on stage. Just one last thing: tell Marlon Wayans to call me! Make sure to check out her new podcast show, My Gay Point of View in 2014. Until next year readers, thanks for showing my articles love and enjoy the holidays. Be blessed!

everybody in between them and legal marriage. As if the fight for marriage equality is akin to Walmart on Black Friday with folks stomping on each other’s heads to get a discount flat screen. David Gregory then asked, “But why do you think the church is losing the argument on it, in effect?” Note that Gregory did not ask Dolan if the church is losing the argument. He flat out said, “Dude, the church is losing this shit, what gives?” Dolan’s answer is quite revelatory. “Well, I think maybe we’ve been out-marketed, sometimes,” he said. “I don’t know, when you have forces like Hollywood, when you have forces like politicians, when you have forces like some opinion-molders that are behind it, it’s a tough battle.” First of all, out-marketed? This isn’t Coke v. Pepsi, pal. Secondly, did he just say that the forces of “Hollywood” and “politicians” are beating out the force of the Catholic Church? That God’s condemnation of homosexuality is no match for a bunch of celebrities and senators? Why, yes. Yes he did. And for what injustice are Hollywood and Washington D.C. at fault? “We’ve been caricatured as being anti-gay,” Dolan said.

By D’Anne Witkowski What’s more powerful, Hollywood and Washington D.C. or God? If you don’t believe in God, that’s easy: Hollywood and D.C., because, duh, they are populated by actual people. But if you believe in God, surely you think He has more sway than the cities that brought us Brokeback Mountain and Barney Frank, right? Maybe not, it turns out. At least when the issue at hand is marriage equality. On Friday, Nov. 29 Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York, had a heart to heart with David Gregory. The topic turned to all those gays getting married and Gregory wondered what Dolan thought about the rapid advances equality has made in recent months. “I’d be a Pollyanna to say that there doesn’t seem to be kind of a stampede to [legalize same-sex marriage],” Dolan responded. “I regret that, I wish that were not the case.” Nice use of the word “stampede,” by the way. It brings to mind an image of gay and lesbian couples mowing down 14 // davidatlanta.com

Oh, now that’s rich, especially coming from a man who personally lobbied against marriage equality in New York and who once included homosexuality in a list of “contemporary threats to marriage” including “polygamy, adultery, [and] forced marriages.” As if there’s some giant conspiracy to make the Catholic Church seem like it doesn’t like gays. Because they sure don’t make any secret about their antigay lifestyle. Dolan likened the fight against marriage equality to the fight against abortion. “Back in 1973 with Roe v. Wade, everybody said this is a forgone conclusion, in a couple of years this issue is going to go away” he said. “To this day it remains probably the most divisive issue in American politics.” Gregory asked, “So you don’t think the gay marriage debate is over?” “No. I don’t think it is,” Dolan responded. In other words, lesbians and gays may be winning the battle to have our families recognized as legal and loving, but people like Dolan will keep up the fight to turn back the clock to a time when our families were considered a crime and an abomination.

BACKSTREET L E GAC Y Looking Back at the Atlanta Institution, Ten Years After the Last Call BY ELIJAH SARKESIAN & DYL AN S. GOLDMAN 16 // davidatlanta.com

T

en years ago this New Year’s Eve, one of the most notable nightlife landmarks in Atlanta did something unprecedented: Backstreet held a last call. That was the night where new legislation forced the formerly 24/7 nightclub to either stop serving alcohol or close at the newlyestablished 3 a.m. closing time.

As Jungle prepares to host a Backstreet reunion on Saturday, Dec. 28, with many of the patrons and entertainers who made Backstreet an Atlanta institution making appearances, it may help those who never experienced Backstreet – whether they were too young or not living in Atlanta at the time – understand how vital Backstreet was to the emergence of Midtown Atlanta as a gay Mecca in the South. Since they opened their doors at the corner of Peachtree and 6th – even though patrons remember it being Juniper – Backstreet changed the face of Midtown Atlanta forever. Residents, seeing it as a good way to draw people in and make Midtown become more attractive and desirable, supported the club. And it worked. The 47,000 square-foot gem had people moving to Midtown in droves; new buildings went up and more businesses moved in. Fifteen years after Backstreet’s birth, their booked entertainment took a sharp turn towards stardom. In 1990, the club introduced Charlie Brown’s Cabaret, featuring the already locally famed Mr. Charlie Brown. Charlie Brown remembers the time well. “It was 1990. I was doing a show up in Buckhead; there used to be a girls’ club up there. It used to be Tallulah. Well, it was more like a dinner theatre, so we tried doing shows there. There was an early dinner and a late show. Well, the night that I got notice was the night the manager from Backstreet walked in and said, ‘I’ve got the third floor of Backstreet open. Come in tomorrow. We’ll talk.’ “I was thrilled to death! It was a 24-hour club, well established, and I got the floor that was never packed until 5 in the morning! They built us a small stage, a booth and set us up. It built from there. It was slow taking off at first, but it grew. I always try to surround myself with the best entertainers, because if they were the best, I had to be my best.” The rest isn’t just history – it’s legendary. People took notice. Films produced by HBO, the Travel Channel, VH1 and TBS were made. Charlie Brown became America’s Ultimate Bitch. The performers from Backstreet’s third floor had fans the world over. Heather Daniels, who joined the show in 1993, credits the never-closing club as the main reason cast members became names. “Backstreet was the big show bar in Atlanta. Everyone eventually ended up there because of it being 24 hours, and the only place open after the other bars and clubs closed. So every cross-section of Atlanta came to the show: Buckhead, OTP, convention groups, show casts from whatever the Fox

was billing, bachelorettes, and the just curious. So that made the girls on cast mainstream.” As history showed, though, Backstreet’s success in bringing people to Midtown ultimately proved fatal to the club itself. As time passed, tension grew between the club and the now well-established neighborhood association. They felt the 24-hour party was bringing in a rough crowd, drugs and crime. Midtown had become affluent; it wasn’t 1975 anymore. Legislation passed in 2000 required private clubs selling alcohol to be non-profit, but Backstreet was originally considered safe thanks to a “grandfather clause.” In 2001, though, the Atlanta City Council withdrew the clause, and Backstreet spent two years appealing the decision. When the appeal was denied in late November 2003, Backstreet had to start complying in conjunction with a new law that forced all clubs in Atlanta to close at 3 a.m. Owner Vicki Vara put up a good fight, by first giving up the bar’s liquor license in favor of being 24/7. Later, the bar attempted to switch positions, giving up its all-night status in favor of serving alcohol. It just didn’t work. Backstreet closed their doors forever in 2004; the building was demolished and a high-rise went up in its place. Ten years later, the legacy of Backstreet lives on in Atlanta. Many of the performers associated with the club still work in Atlanta at various clubs and other establishments. Recently, Charlie Brown has joined the recently opened Lips Atlanta as an entertainer on Friday and Saturday nights. Another longtime performer, Heather Daniels, continues to make appearances in the metro Atlanta area at Marietta’s LeBuzz. As for the all-night dancing – while it may not last quite all night these days, thanks to the still-in-effect 3 a.m. closing law, clubs like Jungle and Heretic bring in high-profile DJs from all over the world, along with other entertainers. Jungle even serves as a memorial of sorts to Backstreet; Jungle includes a giant disco ball saved from the club in the recently renovated space. In a community that sometimes has trouble remembering its history, it’s a memorable way to remember a club that helped pave the way for Atlanta’s thriving LGBT community.

Announced entertainment includes DJs Rob Reum, Bill Berdeaux and Bobby Copeland, plus appearances from Lily White, Shawnna Brooks, Lena Lust, Heather Daniels, Monica VanPelt, Lauren LaMasters, and more. he holidays bring on many traditions, from eggnog and mistletoe to that special kiss at midnight. One that we can’t leave out the tradition to party like there’s no tomorrow when the New Year rolls around. But since tomorrow will actually, inevitably come for the vast majority of us, why not support a great cause while we party? That’s something the creators of Party Like a Rockstar have been doing for seven years now, and they are showing no signs of stopping as they go into year eight. Party Like a Rockstar is the brainchild of Atlanta couple Justin Longenbach and Brennen Farlow. It all got started as a party at their home, but as it grew they decided to move to local venues, allowing the parties to reach their full potential. “Our goal was to create the best events in Atlanta while donating 100% of the proceeds to charity,” said Longenbach. Their parties have brought in over $26,000, and over the last three years they have raised over $15,000 for Joining Hearts. “We chose Joining Hearts because of what they stand for as an organization as well as the support they provide for our community,” said Farlow. The money they raise comes from donations from the venue, as well as proceeds from “our famous Jell-O Shots that continually circle the party throughout the night.” They have elevated the bar this year by setting a goal to raise $10,000. As an extra incentive, they gave 60 lucky partygoers a free VIP upgrade just for being the first to respond to the December 1 launch of their Facebook invite with the phrase “Put me on the A-list.” “Everyone loves and upgrade,” said Longenbach, “and we love to reward those

who race to be one of the first 60 to respond once our party is announced.” Didn’t make the list? Don’t worry. You can still purchase your VIP pass, which includes a separate express entrance, light snacks, private bar and bathrooms. Party Like a Rockstar returns to Jungle Atlanta on New Year’s Eve, with International DJ/Producer Manny Lehman providing the evening’s music. Lehman has worked with some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry including Janet Jackson, Cher, Madonna and Sarah Brightman to name a few. He last graced Atlanta with an astounding set at XION during Peach Party 2013. “We would like to sincerely say thank you Atlanta for all of your support,” said Longenbach. “Without your support, these events, and most importantly the money raised for charity, would not be possible.” For more information and to see ticket options, visit jungleatl.com. A YEAR OF

COMING

OUT

BY MAT THEW HARRELL

O

ne day, in the hopefully not-so-distant future, a person’s sexuality will not be a talking point which divides them from the general populace and evokes headlines and backlash from almost every outlet. Some day, the people whom we decide to sleep with and love will not become a defining trait of our character and it will simply be the fact of the matter. Unfortunately, that day has not yet arrived and announcing your sexuality to the world is something that takes tremendous courage in the face of adversity. For celebrities and public figures this process is magnified to a tremendous level and coming out means risking changes to their life and career. This year several people took the bold step to share their stories of love and acceptance with the world and are pushing us one step closer to the days when a same-sex couple can show up at a public event and not become the front page of every cheap gossip rag in the country.

Wentworth Miller

You probably remember Miller from his long-running start role in the series Prison Break. Like most celebrities who Raven-Symoné have come out he too faced rumors about his sexuality once he became more well-known. Miller remained This Atlanta native became silent on the issue until this year when he was invited adored by America in her to the St. Petersburg Film Festival in Russia. Given the breakout role as the sassy terrible state of things under Russia’s new anti-gay laws, Olivia Kendall on The Cosby Miller declined the invitation saying: “As a gay man, I Show. Afterward she landed must decline.” Since his coming out he has spread his such starring roles as the story of depression and suicide attempts that plagued his quirky psychic in That’s So struggles with sexuality and has become an anti-bullying Raven and the southern activist. girl trying to make her way in the New York fashion Lucas Cruikshank world in State of Georgia. Throughout her career, Cruikshank began his career with amateur-made YouTube Symoné has seen her sexuality called into question on nu- videos in which his nasally-voiced character, Fred, played merous occasions but never spoke about it publicly. the media. During a Q&A video posted on his YouTube channel the 19 year old star and a friend answered fan’s questions which were sent via Twitter. When the imminent “Are you gay?” question popped up, Cruikshank laughingly responded yes and announced that he has been met with support from family and friends. Tom Daley This English diver shot to fame after winning two gold medals in the 2010 Commonwealth Games and bronze in the 2012 Summer Olympics. At the age of 19 he is already praised as one of the youngest talents in the diving world and has made several appearances on the UK reality television show Splash. Earlier this month he made the decision to come out of the closet via a YouTube video announcing that he is in a relationship with a man (speculated to be Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black). Daley’s public reveal has been met with some very negative responses on Twitter but he does not acknowledge them and instead says that he is grateful for all those who support him: “Overwhelmed by all the support. Means the world! Thanks so much guys.”

Matt Dallas

Jason Collins Collins made history this year by becoming the first openly gay man in the NBA. He has been in the league since 2001 and transferred over to The Washington Wizards just this year. Collins announced his sexuality to Sports Illustrated and said, “I didn’t set out to be the first openly gay athlete playing in a major American team sport but since I am, I’m happy to start the conversation.” This is a bold step especially considering the very negative public opinions that many athletes have expressed on the issue of sharing a locker room with a gay man. Despite backlash from the media, some fellow athletes, and his ex-fiancé, Collins has been met with support from such people as Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, Oprah Winfrey, and even President Barack Obama.

Jason Collins

Matt Dallas Dallas is known for his starring role in the ABC Family series Kyle XY and has since appeared in several films and television series. In 2009 rumors of a relationship with actor Jonathan Bennett began emerging but neither of them ever addressed those rumors publicly. Dallas officially came out through a photo on Twitter of his partner, Blue Hamilton, with the caption, “Starting off the year with a new fiancé […]. A great way to kick of 2013!” Like many other, Dallas shied away from specific terms dealing with sexuality and rather shared his happiness of being in love.

Clive Davis Davis is a five-time Grammy Award winning music producer. He is one of the people behind the successes of Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys, Barry Manilow, Kelly Clarkson, and many others. He has been married twice and is a father of four. At the age of 81, Davis came out as bisexual in his memoir, The Soundtrack of My Life. He says that he always found comfort in experimenting with his sexuality and that he is currently in a seven year long, “strong monogamous relationship” with a man. Darren Young Clive Davis

This WWE superstar came out in a way that demonstrated how sexuality should not be such a big deal. When asked in an interview if he thought a gay man could make it in the wrestling world, Young calmly responded, “Absolutely. Look at me. I’m a WWE Superstar and, to be honest with you, I’ll tell you right now, I’m gay, and I’m happy. Very happy.” Young became the first openly gay wrestler active on a professional level. He has been met with support from his peers and executives in the WWE and has since become an anti-bullying activist. Jodie Foster

Darren Young

Foster is one of the most well-known and well-respected names in the acting world. She began her career at the age of three and, throughout her many jobs, has gone down in history for iconic roles such as Iris in Taxi Driver and Clarice in The Silence of the Lambs. Her sexuality has been brought into question for years and finally she addressed it (or rather refused to address it) in a playful manner at the 2013 Golden Globes. “I just have the sudden urge to say something that I’ve never been able to air in public,” she said, feigning nervousness. “You know, I’m just gonna put it out there, right? Loud and proud, right? So, uhm, I’m gonna need your support on this. I am, uh, single.” She followed with a tearjerking speech about the struggles of coming out to loved ones, the importance of privacy in the lives of celebrities, and the love she has for her family. Her coming-out defies the very idea of coming out and the idea that no one should be classified by their sexuality. By sharing with the world their stories these stars have not only told the world it is okay to be gay but also, undoubtedly, have changed the lives of many young people struggling for acceptance in their lives. As the year comes to an end we now have so many public figures who are introducing acceptance of love into mainstream media and as more follow suite the stigma will decrease and, hopefully, everyone will soon realize that gay is okay.

This Week in Theatres The Wolf of Wall Street: The latest collaboration between Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese follows banker Jordan Belfort’s wild, indulgent life in the 1980s. 47 Ronin: Outcast Kai (Keanu Reeves) joins together with Oishi, the leader of 47 outcast samurai, to seek vengeance upon the overlord who killed their master and banished their kind. Grudge Match: Rocky and Raging Bull, this isn’t. But Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone do play boxers once again, this time as long-time rivals settling a beef in the ring. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty: Ben Stiller stars and directs in this story of a daydreamer who escapes his boring life by disappearing into a world of fantasies. Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom: Idris Elba stars as Nelson Mandela in this biopic following the civil rights leader’s life, from his coming of age through his 27 years in prison. @DavidAtlantaGA // 49

good way to shed some of the stress you’ve been feeling lately. But keep yourself under control; you never know what might happen after you’ve had a few. You may have to call in sick tomorrow when you wake up in a strange bed in an even stranger part of town.

positive energy today. Some guys will pick up on your sunny vibe, while others will retreat from you like vampires from the light. Trying to convert those people will be a waste of your time. You only have so much energy to throw around, so share the love only to those who appreciate it.

TAURUS (April 20 – May 20): Expect your well laid

SCORPIO (October 23 – November 21): Gambling

plans for the day to change overnight. The romantic drive with your partner could be in jeopardy as the two of you begin to fight like Krystle and Alexis. Hopefully things will calm down by this evening. You hate eating dinner alone.

with your feelings will be a losing proposition today. There will be guys who toy with them and treat them like dirt. So it’ll be best to keep them buried deep inside. They can’t be abused if you don’t show them, although you may soon find yourself a prisoner in your own shell.

GEMINI (May 21- June 20): You may be thinking too much about finding the perfect relationship. Perhaps it’s time you realize that’s there’s no such thing. Perfection may be ideal but it’s the little flaws and quirks that make people interesting. So get out today and find yourself Mr. Slightly Imperfect, warts and all.

SAGITTARIUS (November 22 – December 20): The outcome of a stormy relationship will be up to you today. You could hang in there and face even more heartache and humiliation. Or you could grow a pair and walk out the door. You’re looking at a choice of being a prisoner or liberator. Sounds like a no-brainer, doesn’t it?

CANCER (June 21- July 22): You’ll have to accomplish

CAPRICORN (December 21 – January 19): You

a lot today, but details will compromise your time. Try to get as much done as you can before noon, then give yourself time to relax and recharge.

may have a thing for men in uniforms of authority, but don’t go too far with that. Speeding down the freeway in the hopes of being pulled over by a macho cop may give you a temporary turn-on. But the thousands in fines and possible jail time…say, maybe it will be worth it!

LEO (July 23 – August 22): You’ll appreciate the diver-

AQUARIUS (January 20 – February 18): You may have been the one to initiate a romance, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be the one to end it. Holding the short end of the stick may leave you with pie on your face, especially when you swore that this one was forever. Look for the warning signs today. They’ll be painfully obvious.

sity of our unique culture today as you see that guys come in all races, body shapes and personalities. You’re not fussy, so you could be like a kid in a candy store at the neighborhood watering hole. You’ll have so many choices you won’t know where to start!

VIRGO (August 23 – September 22): You may have trouble communicating with guys in social situations today. So it may be best to just listen. It could give the illusion that you’re thoughtful and introspective, not tongue-tied, stammering and prone to saying all the wrong things.

56 // davidatlanta.com

PISCES (February 19 – March 19): You may make a public spectacle of yourself today as you get caught up in a frivolous new romance. Making out in the middle of brunch with friends won’t seem so bad, but all eyes will be on you when the pants come down, and it becomes painfully obvious that you forgot to put on underwear.

erry Christmas, Hunties! Once you’ve managed to polish off the last of the egg nog, clean up all the scattered wrapping paper, ribbons and bows ... After the guests have gone and you’ve finished bitching about who was cheap, who was a hot mess and who you wish would’ve stayed home this year ... I invite you take a moment to settle into your evening with my column and a Hot Toddy. This week’s Favorite Bitch is all about people with problems ... and those problems don’t get put on hold just because it’s Christmas! Dear Miss Tiger,

headboard and my daughter screaming during an orgasm. It was so disrespectful! This is a sensitive subject and we haven’t found the right moment to discuss it with her. Any suggestions on how I should’ve handled the situation? -Bonnie Dear Try Writing To Kris Jenner, The only thing that’s sensitive about this situation is your daughter’s clit! Look, if baby girl was bold enough to fuck like she was in her own apartment, then she can surely handle having a house dropped on her ass.

My mom forces me and my college boyfriend to sleep in separate bedrooms while visiting her during Christmas. The whole P.S. I’m sure she did this shit at sixteen and ya let her get thing is ridiculous because we’ve been living together for two away with it, so why try and come correct now? Instead of years!! Any advice, girl? losing sleep that night, you should’ve pulled that boy outta the room by his dick ... and given him round number two! NEXT! -LeAnn Dear Miss Tiger, Dear Silent Night, What should I get my best friend for Christmas? He’s gay and Don’t nobody’s mama wanna clean up the guest bedroom, he’s picky. and have a reminder that their little princess wears a -Yvette tarnished tiara! Okaaay? I suggest you shut the fuck up, because it’s better to be sexually frustrated for a weekend than to pay your own tuition for a semester. NEXT! Dear Try Getting Yourself A Boyfriend Instead, Dear Miss Tiger, There’s a sexy teller at my bank. He flirts with me all the time. I’m definitely feeling him too! What should I do about it? -Ben

But if you must ... please don’t bother putting much thought into it. Your sentimental offering will be returned for a store credit quicker than his midnight dashes for the dick he picks up from that Hornet app. There’s one present you can’t go wrong with - and that’s a goddamn dildo! I’m sure that hoe could use a new one too. It’s a gift that’ll keep on giving ... literally!

Dear Direct Deposit, Boo, you need to pull down your Andrew Christians, open your checkbook and hopefully ... his deposit & withdrawal will have your pelvis bouncin’ like a rent check after Christmas! NEXT! Dear Miss Tiger, My daughter and her girlfriend stayed with us last Christmas. My husband and I were awakened by sounds of a banging 58 // davidatlanta.com

To my prospective lover: if you love me you sure as hell will be standing up with me for me and ALL my gayness.

I’m sorry. I’m not interested in talking with people who don’t spell out full words.

Lube please, lube! No spit, that’s nasty. 60 // davidatlanta.com

It’s so awkward when ugly guys say they’re attractive. Wish I was born on Friday the 13th so that the stupidest people on Earth were afraid of me.

A figure calculating the percentage of versatiles, bottoms, tops, and others in Atlanta would definitely be interesting. Honey, if you want kisses in the morning you better wash that mouth and come back right to bed just like I did; bad breath kills boners.

I’m a flirty person, does that mean I want to have sex with you, or that I like you, or that I want to go out with you? Maybe or maybe not, but till you’re sure about it I’m being just that, flirty. Straight men at the gym: there will be gay men among you and you will occasionally get checked out. Take it as a complement.

Here’s to getting laid, living, and loving with protection and those routinely check ups. Otherwise it ain’t cute. *This page reflects the bitchiness of the community not David Atlanta or its publisher (although we’re bitchy too!)
