If your loved one is a white wine fan, and you don’t know what they like other than ‘sweet’ wine, please know they have no taste; and should just drink kool aid. Orrrrr, if I’m being less of a wine snob...jump them into any Austrian or German riesling that has the word Auslese on the label. Without boring you with a long explanation, just know that word means it’s a grape harvested during its prime mid-range sweetness. Fancy words aside, it will be sure to capture the palate of most any of your ‘sweet’ wine drinking friends. Coffee table book ideas for your gay drag queen loving friends? Snatch up James Hicks’ photo eleganza: Drag Dolls, Dames, & Divas. It’s available on his website www.dragdollsdamesanddivas.com. You’ll see some Drag Race favorites, and a few legends. But more importantly, what does one listen to while wrapping all these amazing gifts? How about checking out the blended club mixes my bearilicious friend Keoki creates for all of our pop diva loving community. He puts together a monthly mega mix of the hottest songs in the country on his website www.blendertunes. com. He promises me a fantabulous Sia mix by year’s end, so I can’t wait to share it with all of you!

I’m late, I’m late...for a very important date!!!

Now, go grab those last minute gifts, or just say fuck the holidays. Buy it all for yourself instead, let’s say a hot bubble bath by candle light as you flip the pages of your new coffee table art book and sip on a gorgeous South African wine; all while listening to some good dance beats.

Why are we so obsessed with last minute holiday shopping? Is it the rush of grabbing something on sale before it’s gone, or is it because we’re a nation of procrastinators? Whichever the case, I like to do my holiday shopping a little differently.

No worries, I’ll be back with a brand baby-spankin’ new column after the holidays. So have a Very Mary Christmas dahlinks!! And remember, watch out for that rascally Krampus~~ He’s always looking for naughty boys.

I’m addicted to candles, and actually look forward to my email sale updates for Yankee Candle and Goose Creek. They’re both often running a BOGO (buy one, get one free) sale. And sometimes Goose Creek runs a buy 3, get 4 free sale. So, I stock up when these sales happen throughout the year. Who doesn’t love a candle? They take up very little space, make your area smell better, and when used up...can be thrown away! No muss, no fuss. Even better yet, they don’t go ‘bad’ or ‘out of season’ so you can stockpile them as any last minute gift! I also take wine to parties and dinner events, as they also get better with age and can sit awhile. I have the upper hand in this, as many of my gift buying friends and family know that I was inducted into the Court of Master Sommeliers back in ‘08. This allows them to not think hard about a gift for me, and buy me a bottle of whatever might catch my fancy. If it’s great, I drink it with other loved ones. If it’s terrible, I make a mean batch of Sangria. So all is well, that drinks well! So, you can do the same. Great wine is not always expensive. There are many South African red blends in the $20 range that will knock your socks off with their smoothness and their complexity. Anything from the Stellenbosch region is A+. 10 // 12.17.2014

You also want to use unexpected ingredients and garnish so as to make sure that the holiday cocktail is memorable for a long time to come. Assembled here are a wonderful variety of holiday cocktail recipes. Some can be made well in advance and in sufficient proportions to satisfy the entire party!

are all DeKuypers liqueurs. As always, there are also more expensive alternatives. The non-alcohol staple mixers of any bar are grapefruit, orange, cranberry, and pineapple juices; in addition to, Coca-Cola, Sprite, Ginger Ale, soda water and sour mix. For the sake of longevity and frugality, I would suggest the juice that is not sold from a cooler.

Preparing the Perfect

Home Bar

W

By Broque Cummings

hether you are a drink aficionado or just a casual host, having a home bar to impress and entertain your guests is probably one of the most sought after aspects in making your home ready for entertaining. I am going to tell you how to set up your home bar as if you were going to publicly open a small club/bar. First, determine the size and extent of your bar. Do you want to be able to make a wide variety of cocktails? Or, do you simply want to make drinks that are party staples? No matter what your choice is, you are going to need a place to store your alcohol.

In determining the size and extent of your home bar, it can be elaborate, or on a smaller scale it can be a cabinet or two in your kitchen and your kitchen counter used as your bar counter for the evening. Once you have determined the size and extent of your bar, the next step is stocking your storage unit. To do this, pick out your three favorite types of liquor (i.e. Rum, Tequila, Vodka, Gin, Whiskey, Scotch, or Bourbon) and get a few fifths of each (a fifth is a 750ml bottle). If your home bar is more extensive, you may opt to purchase a variety of these liquors according to price, but that is completely up to you. As you may or may not know, few drinks are made with just liquor, so you should also purchase some mixers both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Liqueurs are mixers that contain alcohol and characterized by a sweet taste and often a distinct flavor. Some common liqueurs found in any bar include: triple sec, Razzmatazz, Peachtree, and Buttershots. These 18 // 12.17.2014

Now, just get a tub of ice and you are ready to party! But wait, how are you going to mix drinks? Cook’s Warehouse at Ansley mall has a plethora of mixers, shakers, and pourers for all your home bar needs. Of course, you can find tons of resources on the internet for supplies and recipes; however, let me personally suggest barproducts.com. At this site, you can purchase a mixing starter kit which should include a 28oz shaker tin, a 16oz shaker tin, a mixer glass, a speed opener, a strainer, a jigger, an ice scoop, a cocktail spoon, a wine key, and 6 pourers. Certainly, while you are searching, you will probably find some other products that you feel your home bar must ABSOLUTELY have! Some additional items I believe will make hosting easier are disposable cups and straws. These items make cleaning up easier and won’t shatter on the floor once the party gets going. I realize that I have not told you how to make any drinks or even how to properly use the mixing supplies. Nevertheless, if you follow my advice you will have one of the best-stocked home bars on the block, or in the cul-de-sac (I don’t judge) which will certainly impress your party guests. Happy Mixing! 12oz. Shaker $9.99 26oz. Shaker $14.99 Available at Cook’s Warehouse

yourself you can go skydiving, without having to face the cold! Atlanta Skydiving Center, Vertsky Sports Center, and Adventure Sport Skydiving are three different indoor skydiving facilities to allow you a chance to free fall for an adrenaline rush. Educate yourself. Keeping your mind busy is a great way to keep your thoughts positive. You can learn how the news is broadcasted by visiting the CNN center, or revisit the stories of the past with the Cyclorama Civil War Museum. For other history and attractions the Atlanta History Center offers two museums and links you to noteworthy locations across the city. Show someone you care. If you’re feeling blue chances are you are not the only one. Reach out to someone and let them know you care about them. You can get them a gift from Tuesday Morning or Richard’s Variety Store, or you can invite them to explore the city with you. As fun at Atlanta can be, it can be even better with the company of a good friend.

Merry Means to Soothe the Blues

I

By Jeffery Silvey

t’s the most wonderful time of the year, or at least that’s what we’re led to believe. For some people it is the time to dream of white Christmases, while others feel blue. A holiday season that places emphasis on shopping, togetherness, and overall wellbeing, can also serves as a reminder of personal misfortune in finances, romantic loneliness, and poor health. As temperature drops for some of us so does the mood. Fortunately there are many things to do in Atlanta to help stave the blues off. Explore your surroundings. Atlanta is full of new and exciting things to see! Go explore the Bellwood Quarry or get a full view of the city in the Ferris wheel at SkyView Atlanta. Check out the Jackson Street Bridge to get a fantastic view of the downtown landscape. Kick start New Year’s Resolutions. The hard part of maintaining an exercise goal is that it can be hectic to find a good gym and sometimes the membership fees are too much. Let the city be your gym. Jog in Piedmont Park or take a trip down the Beltline. If you don’t mind feeling the real winds of winter you can climb Stone Mountain and feel a new sense of accomplishment. You’ll release endorphins and increase your mood. Challenge your senses. You can delight your eyes and nose by visiting the Atlanta Botanical Garden. You can smell their famous orchids and get a view of the forest from forty feet above the ground. If you’re in the mood to really test

22 // 12.17.2014

Finally, eat ice cream. It comes in many varieties and after all of the exploring, exercising, and day planning you will have worked up an appetite. Visit Morreli’s or Paolo’s Gelato for a frozen treat. No one ever said things got worse because of ice cream, unless you are lactose intolerant. Grab a spoon and let the warmth of the city melt the winter blues away.

Take Me To Church Diverse Atlanta Church Teaches Love, Acceptance By Jesse A. Hancock

It’s Christmas, and for some people this may be one of the only times of the year they go to church. Not that anyone’s judging. Churches all across Atlanta will open their doors on Sundays this month and, of course, on Christmas Eve, welcoming lots of visitors. For LGBT people, some churches are more welcoming than others. One of those churches is New Covenant Church of Atlanta, “where the spirit of God is poured out upon all people.” Founded by Pastor Randy Morgan and his partner, Pastor Johnny Layton, New Covenant Church of Atlanta has been consistently developing its ministry and receiving new mem- schools supplies to children in need, and a program called bers since it began in 2000, changing and impacting lives “After Dark.” Morgan said, regarding After Dark, “We let the every week. clubbers of Cheshire Bridge Rd. know we are here for them and accept them . . . ARIES (Mar. 20 – Apr. 19): Something’s gotten into you this week. The radical thinker inside you is determined to tear down every convention, especially in the art world. Why are you so furious with orthodoxy?

LEO (Jul. 23 – Aug. 22): You can expect to have some disagreements with your partner or friend. You may overreact. If you do, it’s only because the climate of the last few days has made you feel more vulnerable than usual.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22 – Dec. 20): The week ahead should be excellent. For the past several days you’ve been searching for meaning in life. There have been changes in your chief occupation, new relationships, bursting ambitions. You can let all of that soul searching go.

TAURUS (Apr. 20 – May 20): If you’re involved in an occupation similar to that of your mother or father you may question if the choice was yours or preordained. Did you take this career path of your own volition? If not, what is it that you should really be doing with your professional life?

VIRGO (Aug. 23 – Sep. 22): It will be as though you’re in a new and hopeful world this week. The people you meet will be cordial and caring, and the future will seem like a bright, attractive place to live. In other words, it’s like a fabulous dream.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 21 – Jan. 19): You will probably be perfectly in tune with the week ahead. Family and friends find your company soothing and pleasant, and they’re likely to thank you for it. Aren’t weeks like this great?

GEMINI (May 21- Jun. 20): Most people form their opinions on the basis of what they’re told by a few people who supposedly know what they’re talking about. You have no patience for these tendencies. In fact, you’re tempted to use vulgar language just to shock people out of their complacency.

LIBRA (Sep. 23 – Oct. 22): Because you have a tendency to brood over everything right now, a week like this can’t be anything but beneficial. You may find it gratifying, especially if you try some artistic, esoteric, or religious activity.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18): Don’t try to control what happens, because you won’t be able to fathom what’s going on. You may do some soul-searching. Don’t spend too much time staring at your belly button. Look around you for some of the answers.

CANCER (Jun. 21- Jul. 22): If you’re involved with theater, dance, or painting, the week ahead will be a bright one for you. You feel a strong desire to bring people together in pursuit of some artistic endeavor. Listen to your longings.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21): There are days when you feel wonderful without being able to attribute the feeling to any real event. Of course, your rational mind will search for a reason for your happiness. Don’t even try to understand. Just enjoy!

PISCES (Feb. 19 – Mar. 19): This kind of strange week doesn’t come around often. It will seem as though you no longer know what you want. People won’t understand you, and you will think that explaining yourself is pointless. The best thing to do may be to unplug. You have nothing to lose.

ost of us are out shopping for treasured holiday gifts and preparing to spend time with our loved ones. But the folks in this week’s Favorite Bitch are buying drama by the pound and cozying up with strangers. Holidays don’t take a break from bullshit, so get a cup of Christmas cheer and get ready for some good ole fashioned advice for an ultra modern world!

Dear Miss Tiger, I’m a slut. The holidays make me feel sentimental. I end up going to cozy little bars, finding a hot dude in a sweater and taking him home. The problem is this happens about every other night with somebody new. Help! -Cory

Dear Miss Tiger, Every year my Christmas office party becomes more and more out of control. Last year my boyfriend suggested I get a hotel room to prevent driving home drunk. The problem is that I let a co-worker crash there and we ended up fucking. Should I go to the party this year? -Brad

Dear It’s Never Too Soon For An Expensive Ring, Hopefully the ring is from Cartier and not the Costco fine jewelry department. While most ‘new love’ is still exploring cock rings, I applaud you for being a stand-up guy and thinking about engagement rings instead. But you may just wanna hold on to my e-mail address because fools rush in, motha fuckah!

Dear When Santa Cries, “Ho! Ho! Hoe!” It’s Your Name He’s Calling, Dear Miss Tiger, Baby, I got your goddamn number. And apparently so do I’m 19 and a college freshman. I’ve been talking to this older all the men of Atlanta! You ain’t just pullin’ this shit in the guy and things are starting to get serious. He wants to take winter. Because when Spring rolls around, you’ll become me away over the holidays. My parents know I’m gay, but all sentimental and fuck every other dude you see in the how can I talk to them about our 11-year age gap? Home Depot plant department. And when Summer comes -Zackery around, you’ll get all sentimental and fuck all the dudes buying suntan lotion. Bitch, you’re a goddamn slut so pull an Dear If They’re Okay With You Liking Dick Oprah and OWN it! Then They’ll Be Okay With You Liking One With Some Coins, P.S. 2015 is right around the corner ... try adding this diSpeaking of money - I’m sure your parents are still paying lemma to your New Year’s Resolutions. And you know what for all your Spring Break vacations, so go on ahead and let they say about those, Hunty! somebody else pay for your winter frolicking ... and give those bitches a break! Dear Miss Tiger, I’ve been dating my new boyfriend for three weeks. I’m P.S. Parents will usually be okay if the older dude is hot and thinking about proposing to him on Christmas Day. Is it conservative looking. But if that motha fuckah is serving Troll too soon? Realness, be prepared to pay college tuition yo’ damn self! -Billy

Dear Your Man Thought Mints Came With The Room - Not Side Dick, Being absent from an office party can come across as shady. It could also prevent you from getting that long-overdue-raise you been hoping for in the New Year. My advice is go to the party and if you’re gonna end up messy and fucking someone again ... fuck your boss or the human resources director. This way you’ll have a good time, bust a nut in some new boypussy AND secure your motha fuckin’ raise! NEXT! 66 // 12.17.2014

What is it with gay men!? Why is it that no one hits on me until they see me on a date? Are they so bitter and jealous that they can’t stand to see others happy? Find you own bliss and stay the fuck out of mine!

If you play that Cirque du Soleil video one more time, we’re done. Seriously. Stop. It’s over.

Never judge a person that’s struggling with addiction. You don’t know what kind of hell they’ve been through.

Oh, spare me! Being stuck in your office is not like prison. You don’t have to worry about being gang-raped in your office. Or maybe you do?

Do people your age know how to comb their fucking hair? It looks like two squirrels crawled on their head and started fucking. 68 // 12.17.2014

I’m not asking anybody for anything if I can’t get it on my own. Neither should you.

If you have to text your friends everytime and they never text you, you might want to reconsider them as friends. Friendship is a two way street. You are being used!

That guy is hot. Out of your league? Son, let a man figure out why they won’t screw you. Don’t do it for them.

How is it that you can afford a BMW but not a pair of sweat pants?

You seem to be the only one who doesn’t know why you’re single. It’s sad when your husband has to defend your actions. And you wonder why you have no friends.

If you’re going to give someone a hand-job, trim your fucking nails!!! Those damn things hurt!!!

Your voice sounds like a dolphin mating call.

Consider me oldfashioned. I like to meet people in person.

Darling, if I wanted some come back I would of took some off your bottom lip.
