MF: You’re reliving the feelings. I know how all happened, I was there. Yet when you watch it you’re seeing it from the camera’s perspective. So I saw the tensions were really high between the girls…it’s tough to live through again. Those feelings are embedded in your soul. So when you watch it, they all come back…feeling it all over again. DA: What was your favorite experience from being on the show? MF: I loved those humanizing moments when like Katya and I shared the struggle of sobriety, and let each other know that there was someone else there that understood the difficulties and the struggles. She needed just as much love as I did. That’s the kind of television that makes it all worth it.

M
en of David at first may seem like a beauty or popularity pageant…yet it’s not. It is so much more than that. The Men of David finalists, while all very sexy, are also competing to raise the most money and awareness for AID Atlanta. That is the real contest. Now in its second year, the Men of David competition has become an exceedingly great way to fundraise for AID Atlanta, as well as a tremendous vehicle for the competitors to meet their community. All of our ten finalists share passion for the Atlanta LGBT community and undeniable support for AID Atlanta. They have been diligently raising much
needed funds for a charity that does so much to serve the community. In its first year, the Men of David competition raised over $20,000 for AID Atlanta. A number that surprised both AID Atlanta and us. This year, our intentions are to surpass last year’s donation and support for such a worthwhile organization. AID Atlanta’s mission is to reduce new HIV infections and improve the quality of life of its members and the community, something that we can all get behind. You’ve made your choices and now we present the top ten for you to get to know before the Men of David Finals, 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 at Jungle.

michael grad Age: 33 Occupation: Marketing Birthplace: West Palm Beach, FL Relationship Status: Single
Favorites: Bar: I do end up at TEN more than most other bars… TV Show: Barefoot Contessa Movie: Troop Beverly Hills. Hands down. Celebrity Crush: Daniel Norris. He shaves with an axe. I can’t with him. Favorite Song: Of the moment? “Go All Night” by Gorgon City feat. Jennifer Hudson What does being part of Men of David mean to you? It was incredibly flattering to be nominated (I thought it was a joke at first), and even more so to make top 10. I see Men of David as an opportunity for 10 people that are part of a community taking time to focus energy into making that community better and stronger. I think this will be a great experience that will combine fun, meeting new people, maybe stepping out of my comfort zone a little and hopefully make a difference and help contribute to the success of an organization I strongly believe in. What community/charity groups are you involved in? I do a good deal of work with AID Atlanta with our team’s involvement in the AIDS Walk. The LemonAIDS have been a massively successful team for the past several years and we hope to continue that legacy in 2015. What makes a guy attractive to you? Someone who knows what they want is incredibly sexy. I’m also attracted to guys that are kind-hearted and have compassion as well as a sense of humor. Finally, I’m a sucker for a nice smile. What do you like to do in your free time? I run 15-20 miles per week, so that takes up a good bit of free time. I love to cook, which also entails reading recipe blogs, cooking magazines, etc. I like live music, playing in the park, trying new restaurants, yummy cocktails, dancing on occasion, and watching terrible television with friends (and wine).

DA: This may be too soon, but is there already another album in the works? LD: Of course! We are always writing. My iPhone Dictaphone is jammed full of ideas. I write lyrics and topline melody everyday. I have been writing various new songs while on tour with many artists such as KC and the Sunshine Band, MC Lyte, Crystal Waters, Inaya Day, Kristine W, Chris Cox, Freedah Soul, Leo Sayer, Sian Evans (Kosheen) and more. I must say, some are gems and I cannot wait to them to see sunlight! DA: When working with a vocal artist to create something new, how do you usually begin the creative process? LD: It varies. Sometime I may write the whole song and record the melody on my phone and then send it to a singer. Or other times I might send an idea or instrumental to a singer along with a initial idea, or lyric or melody for the singer to then jam from.
DJ/Producer Lee Dagger of Bimbo Jones
DA: You have worked with so many vocalists and have done so many great remixes; are there artists that you would like to work with that you haven’t worked with yet?
Bimbo Jones, the collective duo of Lee Dagger and Marc JB has literally worked with the best of the best; Rihanna, Kristine W, Lady Gaga, and Madonna…just to name a few. Last year they released their much-anticipated album, Go Naked to resounding success. This year we are proud to present Lee Dagger as our headlining DJ for Men of David. Lee opened up to us after his return to London about his career, his musical style, and his intentions for this Atlanta performance.
LD: Yes of course. Stevie a Wonder, Missy Elliott, Ellie Golding, - I would love to write with Rihanna!
DA: What do you have in store for Atlanta?
DA: With as prolific as Bimbo jones is, why is there not just a ton more songs out?
DA: Why would you sometimes release tracks under aliases such as Miami Calling?
LD: I own a club night and brand called Miami Calling. And have held club nights in Ibiza, Miami, Prague and UK. And have also used the name for remixing and producing. We David Atlanta: We’re very excited for your visit, it’s been also have produced under the names Dead Stereo, and a while since your last time in Atlanta right? Element. It’s sometimes a new angle or a marketing plan to release on other names. I have my new lee Dagger album to release this year. Lee Dagger: Yeah, it’s been a while.
LD: I can’t wait to come to Atlanta. I have been busy preparing lots of new music for you all to hear including rare bootlegs, LD: We have loads in the vault and loads of new ones in the pipeline. Quickest way to release them would be if record comremixes and lots of new tracks! panies delved deep into their pockets to sign a release rather It’s been a fab year so far. In February I was on tour in Australia that expect a track for free! Haha!!! spinning in Sydney harbor party for Mardi Gras. I spun after Kiesza. She was awesome! I then had a 3-week tour of Oz. advice
Vaping is the current rage amongst tobacco quitters. E-cigarettes and personal vaporizers undoubtedly reduce the nasty risks presented by standard cigarettes. However, their effectiveness in smoking cessation is unclear. There is behavioral therapy, in which a counselor helps find ways not to smoke; or medicines, or nicotine replacement aids, like gum or a patch. Nonetheless, unaided quitting is, by far, the way for 90% of folks who stop smoking. So, if you’re serious about kicking the habit, LUNG, you’d better find a reliable meat slicer. Because the very best way is cold turkey. Dear Dom, My boyfriend invited me to his 10-year high school reunion this summer. He was very popular in school, and I’m proud to be his date to this big event. But, I’m really nervous. I’m from Connecticut. How do I make a good impression on his friends in this rural Georgia town? Young, Anxious, Northern Kid
Dear Dom,
Every Single Question... Every Single Answer
Those good ol’ boys ain’t gonna hurt ya, YANK. Yes, you two will draw inquisitive stares and some uninformed questions. Remember, reunions are about former friends & classmates reconnecting with one another. Most of them will be bringing a partner along, too. You might even be surprised to find other gay guys. A heluva lot can change during the decade after graduation. Follow your boyfriend’s lead. If he wears a suit to the reunion, do likewise. If he starts a conversation, join in. If he starts cruising the still-hunky high school football star, you three should take it to the boy’s room. If they start passing around moonshine and you hear banjo music, be afraid. Be very afraid. Dear Dom,
Panties turn me on. Nothing gets me throbbing quite like slipping into a sexy pair of women’s lingerie. How can I introduce them to the guys I hookup with without Smoking is killing me. Now in my mid-30s, I started freaking them out? with cigarettes during my teens. I’ve begun a fitness kick and the cigs have got to go. But, it’s a lot harder Simply Wild About Panties than I thought. Got any tips to help a quitter? Ah, the joys and jeers of gender-bending. If Jaden Smith can Long Under Nicotine’s Grip trade his boy clothes for girl clothes, you can too, SWAP. If you’re going to be a panty-clad piggy, go whole hog. For your next date, Let’s talk turkey: Georgia’s reputation as a place to quit smoking break out the frilliest, filmiest, barely-there lingerie in your colis black, LUNG. Besides a very poorly funded Tobacco Quitline lection. When the moment of truth arrives, don’t be shy. Fly your (877-270-STOP), which gives nothing more than over-the-phone freak flag high. Worse yet, gays & lesbians are nearly twice as likely to smoke as straight people, according to the Centers for Disease Control. ARIES (Mar. 20 – Apr. 19): You’re radiant and glowing with happiness. This is a refreshing change after the gloom and doom of the past few weeks. Apparently the decisions you made worked out for the best. Or, even better, perhaps you’re in love?
LIBRA (Sep. 23 – Oct. 22): It could be that you see mirages, most notably in the environment around you. You may have the impression that people are lying to you or hiding something from you. Or it may be you’re the one who lies about certain things or hides what you do.
TAURUS (Apr. 20 – May 20): Your goal for the week seems to be to enchant your mate. There’s no reason not to try. Indeed, this week is excellent for love. But don’t exaggerate your romantic wiles, Taurus. Be careful of what you do and how you do it!
SCORPIO (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21): Hold tight to your money, Scorpio, because you may have some strange {though noble) impulses to give it away or spend a large amount on something completely useless. Why not consider donating some time rather than money to those in need?
GEMINI (May 21- Jun. 20): You’re in splendid shape this week, Gemini! Did a fairy godmother conjure away all the little difficulties of the past few weeks? Enjoy this moment of relief from your worries. As for your love life, some exciting opportunities may arise.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22 – Dec. 20): It isn’t a good time to sign contracts or make any substantial purchases. Go to the grocery store, by all means, but buy hamburger not tenderloin. Keep your money in a safe place and save your reserves. Don’t negotiate anything today, Sagittarius.
CANCER (Jun. 21- Jul. 22): It’s certainly clear that you have faith in your actions, Cancer! You feel no fear or doubt as you progress toward your goals, cruising along on calm seas under clear skies. This new atmosphere is likely the product of your renewed commitment.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 21 – Jan. 19): Are you certain that you can’t modify your current situation, Capricorn? Are you a prisoner of a lifestyle that isn’t of your own making or that may be a throwback from the past? Learn to say no and make your own life!
LEO (Jul. 23 – Aug. 22): This is a moment to start being creative in your life and stop being afraid of not having any talent. Who’s to say what talent is? And in the romance department, the love of your life might be right in front of you.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18): The forecast for you is excellent, Aquarius. You can rely on aspects to restore your confidence, which has been sorely tried in the past few days. The warrior of seduction within you can swagger forth, certain of conquest.
VIRGO (Aug. 23 – Sep. 22): You may be a bit unclear about your professional direction this week, Virgo. Your motivation has disappeared without warning. What happened? It may be that you need to become involved in projects that have more universal resonance.
PISCES (Feb. 19 – Mar. 19): You may have some trouble communicating. It’s as though something is distorting your perception. Don’t be surprised if, once evening comes, you feel like forgetting about all of your responsibilities and traveling to the other end of the world.

S E S S I O N It’s a shame when a self declared top doesn’t know how to use his equipment.
I am a people person. Just not a stupid people person.
SEND US YOUR BITCHES! Text 404.969.BTCH, tweet @BitchSessionATL or email bitch@davidatlanta.com *This page reflects the bitchiness of the community not David Atlanta or its publisher (although we’re bitchy too!)
The first time you formally announce you are “in a relationship” on social media is on a hookup app. CLASSY!
Why is it so incredibly hard to meet people in Atlanta? Lighten up people! It’s just a conversation.
Just because you’re hot doesn’t mean I have to buy your drinks and kiss your ass.
OMG, one more freakin’ racist or gay bashing post and I’m not going to delete you..I’m going to blow up the Internet.
Does being on a softball team mean you HAVE to go to a beer bust every Sunday?
Don’t pick out my flaws because you hate your own.
So judging from the dating pool in Atlanta scissoring isn’t just for lesbians anymore.
