son when I asked them to buy me a Janet Jackson t-shirt and then proceeded to make it into a halter top. “TOGETHER AGAIN” After a friend passed away from AIDS, Janet was inspired to write this song. The track was originally written as a ballad, but it was changed to be more uplifting and inspiring. If there was any question before the song came out, “Together Again” definitely cemented Janet as a gay icon. “THAT’S THE WAY LOVE GOES” The best selling song of her career, this track stayed atop the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks. One of her most seductive tracks, the sound was completely different than what everyone was used to hearing from Janet. Also, a young JLo makes a small appearance in the music video, which is kinda cool. ROLLING STONE COVER One of the most memorable magazine covers of all time, the then-24-year-old had just inked a nearly $50 million contract with Virgin Records, so what better way to celebrate than posing seminude? Those hands over her hoo hoos belonged to her boyfriend of the time. You know that guy is still telling people sitting next to him in a bar that his hands were the hands that covered Janet Jackson’s boobs. I would.

Damn it, Janet. We love you. COUNTING JANET JACKSON’S EIGHT MOST ICONIC MOMENTS TO CELEBRATE THE RELEASE OF UNBREAKABLE.

“SCREAM” Finally. Big brother and little sister got together to make one hell of a track. “Scream” was the first single off of Michael’s 9th studio album, HIStory: Pasy, Present and Future, Book I. The song was on point. The video was on point. Reportedly, the expressive video cost $7 million to make. That’s redic! But I guess if you’re going to do something big and you can spare $7 million, might as well go all out.

In case you’re still hungover from Pride and didn’t realize it, Janet – or Miss Jackson if you’re nasty – recently unleashed NIPPLEGATE her brand-spankin’-new album Unbreakable, and I’ve had it on Along with 9/11, when they announced Bin Laden was dead, and replay since it’s release. when gay marriage became legal, I know exactly where I was that Sunday evening in 2004 when Justin Timberlake released Not only does it mark her 11th studio album, but Queen Nasty took Janet’s chocolate Kracken. That evening provided some very confused looks in my house. Was it pierced? Was it tattooed? I it back to her roots and do what she does best. still don’t really know. But this isn’t an album review. Who else can have lyrics standard for the world as well as Miss Jackson herself. like “I’m heavy like a first day period”? Nobody. Period. When Janet counts down in the video, she doesn’t just do it basic with her fingers. She mind fucks us all. If you watched it as much as I have, then you know what I’m talking about, and you still aren’t coordinated enough to pull it off. HOCUS POCUS Pumpkin spice be damned. It’s time for gay Atlanta’s real reason for the season: the annual Jerusalem House Halloween Bash is ready to make all your costume dreams come true. by Jason Mietelski photos: Russ Youngblood 24 | 10.21.15

W

e all remember the stellar performances by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy so well: the trio of bumbling witches who were accidentally resurrected by a teenager in Salem, Mass., in the 1993 cult classic, Hocus Pocus.

Flash forward to 2015: Now’s the time to channel the ghouls and goblins inside you and resurrect those witches at Jerusalem House’s annual Halloween Bash. The annual throwdown with hundreds of local gays bringing their costumed best takes on “Hocus Pocus” as a theme this year. Be bold. Be clever. Think sexy. Think virgins who need to be sacrificed. Think of innocent children needing to escape the clutches of witches on the hunt for their precious souls as you create your costumes and prepare for this wickedly delicious gathering taking place on Saturday, Oct. 24. The standard-bearing gay Halloween party in Atlanta takes place this year at the W Atlanta Midtown. In addition to an open bar, the party hosts a best-ever costume contest spanning three categories: Individual, Group, and Halloween Krewe. The costume contest is such a big deal, Jerusalem House channels local celebrities to judge it, so bring your best. Look for Jovita Moore from WSB-TV, Jason Moattar of Moattar LTD, John Gidding of Fox 5 Home Free, E. Vincent Martinez, fashionado extraordinaire from the Art Institute of Atlanta, Rich Eldridge of EldridgeATL, and DJ Kaedy Kiley from 97.1 THE RIVER. Get your creative black hearts pumping. The judges are looking for the hottest ensembles —a nything from Spooky to scary to sexy and downright hilarious. The bash is a guaranteed chance to not ly have a great night and support a cause – proceeds go to help fight HIV and eradicate the scourge of AIDS – but you can also win prizes. Depending on your level of support, you can win a trip to Miami, Patron appreciation gifts, VIP “no wait” expanded bar service, and $3,000 in cash. Oh! And keep your eyes, peeled, fellas. The Sanderson Sisters themselves will make a cameo, so no doubt you’ll want to look your best for them. This is also an excellent opportunity to show off for that hot new guy you’ve been pining for, or just to have the best time ever with friends. The bar’s gonna be open for five creepy hours serving signature drinks crafted from Tito’s Handmade Vodka, and DJ include a night’s stay at the W Hotel Midtown, free parking, Sean Mac will be behind the decks keeping the rhythm of the 10 raffle tickets, recognition at the event and an expanded night pumped and sexy. bar menu. There is no such thing as fashionably late, either. Early-bird ticket orders qualify for $10 off. Tickets at the door start at $75, so the discount is no chump change. Entry includes complimentary lite bites, costume contest entry and five hours of bottomless cocktails. The “Halloween Krewe” entry is $500 and provides ten general admission access tickets. The “Spellbound Patron” is $600 and gets two VIP passes which

So what are you waiting for? Get ready to get your ghoul on and buy your tickets online in advance or make plans to buy them at the door. Jerusalem House Halloween Bash takes Saturday, Oct. 24 @ W Atlanta Midtown, 7 p.m. Visit jerusalemhouse. org/halloween davidatlanta.com | 25

o one wants to talk about it, but somebody is doing something about it. Advocates, allies, family and friends ban together throughout the fall season to walk miles raising awareness for suicide prevention, fighting to end the stigma surrounding depression and all the struggles entailed.

The Out of the Darkness community walks are part of a nationwide effort to unite thousands of people sponsoring and raising funds for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The AFSP uses the money to fund research, educational programs, public policy advocacy and to support survivors. November marks the Atlanta chapter’s 12th annual walk. Support and involvement has grown over the past decade since the first Out of the Darkness Atlanta gathered only 250 participants and raised $57,000. Last year, over 1,500 people attended the walk and brought in almost $210,000. According to Christina Owens, the Georgia Area Director for the AFSP, this 28 | 10.21.15

advice

Dear POP, Judging from the brief description, that’s no ordinary zit, POP. It’s probably a pilonidal cyst. Almost always located at the base of the tailbone, these cysts are the nasty combination of an abnormal skin pocket and ingrown hairs. They are recurring. Since your poop chute is just inches away, these pockets are prime targets for infection. Left untreated, some pilonidal cysts may develop into skin cancer. Common among particularly hairy men, one way to prevent a pilonidal cyst is to keep your ass clean and regularly shave your butt crack. Treatment is an office visit with your doctor. A quick procedure will have you sitting pretty. Dear Dom,

Dear Dom,

Every Single Question... Every Single Answer

Porn about puppy play turns me on. The thought of getting down on all fours and being bred like an animal seems like a wild time. How does a novice get started? Contemplation On Canine Kink Dear COCK, It’s never too late to get off the porch and run with the big dogs. But it might be a bit too soon to buy a kennel cage and dog bowl. Puppy play is a fascinatingly nuanced gay sexual trope. It shares many of the basic attributes of the better known leather and rubber scenes: role play, specific gear & attire, and domination & submission. It’s in the subtleties that puppy play is unique.

Dear Dom,

“It’s a different connection for me versus regular Dom/sub situations,” explains Ryan Dixon, also known as porn star Why am I always late? Whether it’s a work shift, doc- Kameron Scott, a longtime fetish devotee. “I love the feeling tor appointment, or a dinner date, I never can arrive of being needed and wanted as much as a real puppy has those on time. I’ve even lost a couple of jobs because of late- same feelings. And the sex is hot too.” ness. How can I reset myself? Dixon says the best way to explore a dog’s life is to meet others. “Give the Eagle a try on a rubber or puppy night. [Eagle Being Early Never Atlanta, 306 Ponce De Leon Ave NE] I always recommend for a person interested in puppy play to seek out and talk with a Dear BEN, puppy first and then maybe a handler. Perhaps that puppy’s Tardiness may be a small thing to you. To others it’s big, BEN. handler if they have one. It can all be scary but all you have to Habitual lateness is a classic example of passive aggressive be- do is talk to someone.” havior. It’s a control grab. And it can be a tough habit to break. Here at Dear Dom there’s a simple solution. We set our clocks Now, about that dog bowl. Publix is running a buy-one-get-one and watches ahead by fifteen minutes. And every morning we sale on Alpo this week. Bark, bark! sing, “Let’s do the time warp again.” Sometimes even in high heels & fishnets! Dear Dom, There’s a huge zit at the top of my butt crack. It never goes away and seems to be getting worse. Sometimes it’s uncomfortable to drive. How do I get rid of this damned thing? Pimple On Posterior 64 | 10.21.15

ARIES (Mar. 20 – Apr. 19): In your drive for success, the on-ramp may not be readily apparent. Find the best approach by slowing down and waiting for opportunity to present itself. Make sure you’re ready to step on the gas when the light turns from red to green.

LIBRA (Sep. 23 – Oct. 22): You love fashion. You love mixing and matching and flaunting your finely honed sense of style. Go out and buy yourself pretty today, preferably in pink, pale green and shades of blue. Don’t worry about affording it. If the devil can wear Prada, why can’t you?

TAURUS (Apr. 20 – May 20): You will gain a deeper understanding of a person or situation if you look at things from a different angle. Your own personal ideals and sense of purpose may also undergo a sea change as your enlightenment grows.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21): Getting the ball rolling will prove easy today as roadblocks fall, and friends are receptive to your leadership. Even your partner will be impressed with your skill in implementing plans and communicating ideas.

GEMINI (May 21- Jun. 20): Confusing undercurrents abound as your partner becomes more like your boss. There may be something he’s not telling you. Through gentle persuasion he could reveal a personal problem that’s causing his recent change in behavior.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22 – Dec. 20): The focus will be on finances today as unexpected expenses cut into your mad money. Since a sugar daddy isn’t readily available, some belt tightening may be in order. Be smart about how you spend, as you may have to live on the cheap for a bit, or at least until the next paycheck.

CANCER (Jun. 21- Jul. 22): How well you deal with a problem could spell the difference between a great day and a crappy one. Your proven ability to turn snatch victory from the claws of defeat may be tested as a solution could call for extreme measures that make you uncomfortable.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 21 – Jan. 19): You’ve admired him from afar, and you’ve finally caught his eye. Now what? Good energy and confidence in yourself has gotten you this far, so don’t stop now. Taking things slow, or at a pace you like, will pay off, as you impress him with your quiet, yet steadfast pursuit.

LEO (Jul. 23 – Aug. 22): You’ve been quite the gym bunny lately, and you have the chiseled bod and six pack abs to prove it. This gives the you an even higher sense of ego, but don’t go overboard on the pumping and flexing. Others may get bored with your ‘look at me’ preening, and you risk looking silly.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18): Managing a roomful of monkeys banging on buckets may be easier than handling your pals today. You may have to dish out some discipline if anything is going to get done, a position the water bearer is never comfortable with. Do it with tact and grace, and they could see things your way.

VIRGO (Aug. 23 – Sep. 22): Problems with a relationship only strengthens your resolve. Get him involved and talk about it. Better yet, make plans to share some entertaining activities with him today. By not being so critical, and keeping things light, you might be able to put the ‘fun’ back in dysfunction.

PISCES (Feb. 19 – Mar. 19): A group you are part of suddenly finds itself rudderless, drifting along without direction. Take charge by helping to find someone who will take the reins. You’ll need someone who is loyal, dedicated and who leads with a quiet aura of empathy. Sound like someone you know?

Bitch

S E S S I O N You make about six times my income, but when you asked me out to eat, I had to pay my own way. Everyone was right. You are a douche.

You keep telling me you love me, but you’re showing me a whole ‘nother thing entirely. When you get this, I’ll already be gone.

I don’t care how fit you are. Leopard print spandex pants outside the gym are NEVER appropriate for work!!!

Told you that I like your glasses, but was too shy to say I like your ass. Womp-womp.

68 | 10.21.15

I could love you, baby, but your man bun is douchey.

SEND US YOUR BITCHES! Text 404.969.BTCH, tweet @BitchSessionATL or email bitch@davidatlanta.com *This page reflects the bitchiness of the community not David Atlanta or its publisher (although we’re bitchy too!)

Our relationship takes place on Facebook. I’m all hashtagged out. Wait. One more: #donewithyou

I’d tell you how into you I am, but you won’t shut up about how much you have in common with your trainer.

You’re the one, you’re the one, blah blah, no one is hotter, yeah give it to me, blah, yeah that’s it. … Are you done yet? How much weight does a bitch have to gain before it’s okay to mention it? No hate, but that’s the real reason why I didn’t recognize you at Pride, girl.

So many sexy guys who work out at Pride. Do pecs have to come with that attitude though? Not cute.
