Things that make me go hmmm…Intentionally losing a game of rock, paper, scissors is just as hard as trying to win. PRINCIPAL – Mr. Birnbaum: Yesterday we said goodbye to our former principal of 19 years (1969 to 1988)- Bill Doering at the age of 87. He was the 5th and I am the 9th principal in these 66 years. He was still very active in our church and will be sorely missed. Rest in peace Bill until we reunite in our heavenly home. PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Colvin: I hope everyone had a great Spring Break! The year is going by so fast!! Report cards come out this week. We will be learning all about the letter Z, and learning all about Butterflies, making butterflies and caterpillars! Have a great week! PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Kelly: Happy Spring! I hope you enjoyed your spring break! The kids were excited to tell me all about their fun week. Report cards are in folders today. We will go to a nursing home to sing, and go to New Life Trails to visit the animals and an egg hunt on April 17th and to Lost Creek Safari in Stillwater on May 8th. More information will come home soon. We started a reading challenge on Monday. Look for the packet in folders today. The challenge is to read with your student at least 20 minutes each day and record the books you read on the cutouts in the packet. If we fill our board we will earn a party. I hope you are planning to attend the Auction/Reunion this weekend. There are some great class auction projects. Thanks again to Mr. and Mrs. Steichen and Mrs. Olechnowicz for doing our projects! We have started reviewing our letters. Our Bible words this week are, God says "Call to me and I will answer you." Jeremiah 33:3 Have a Blessed Week! PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Heitman: Welcome back!! I pray you all had a wonderful Spring Break! It was very refreshing for me! This week we welcome our new friend, Aliyah, to our class! We have completed learning all our letters, and are now focusing on identifying letters and their sounds, as well as number recognition. We're also learning about wind and its power this week. Reading at home is a great way to help your child expand and retain what he/she is learning at school! Our Bible Words are [God says], "Call to Me and I will answer you."-Jeremiah 33:3. KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Miller: I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break! I missed your children, so thank you for sharing them with me. Today your child is bringing home their report card so please look for it. I can't believe that we only have the last 9 weeks left of school! It is going by fast. Have a sensational week! I would like to welcome Houston Carrillo to our class! FIRST GRADE – Mrs. Birnbaum: Welcome back from Spring Break! We are in the 4th quarter and working hard to be ready for 2nd grade! A.R goals have been set, so ask your child what their new goals are. Testing Week: Testing week is quickly approaching. We are starting to prep for the test as much as possible. I am asking each of you to please write a note to your child. I will set them on their desk on Monday morning. Also, I am looking for a few parents to bring snacks for the week. This way we have full bellies to take our test. Have a wonderful week!! FOURTH GRADE – Mrs. Sibley: We are getting back on track for the last nine weeks of school! Planners and Fast Direct are the best tools to have a successful end of the year. Have the AR permission slips signed, initialed with money back no later than this Friday! Send back spring pictures not needed, with money for those kept. ITBS is around the corner. If you wish to send in healthy snacks for the class, please let me know to have all days covered. Healthy snacks always help to keep a sharp mind. Encouraging notes are always a nice boost of confidence while we give our best effort. We will be preparing more next week. Keep a good schedule and great breakfast while testing. I am always here for any questions or concerns. FIFTH GRADE – Mrs. Schatte: I enjoyed reading president reports over break. I was impressed with the work the students did on these reports. Now is the time to be working on the oral report. This report will take practice to give an effective oral presentation of the written report. Please be sure to help your child follow the guidelines I have set forth on the instruction guide for this presentation. Check our FD Bulletin Board for further information on tests this week. Blessings!

Students 6th grade and up: Join us for food, fun, and fellowship! During the Lent season our FLY activities will last 5-8 pm. SUNDAY NIGHT YOUTH: Narnia Night! Come join us March 24 from 4-7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall for a few magical hours of food, fun and fellowship through the Wardrobe doors! All Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve ages 6th grade through high school are cordially invited to attend. This event is "costumes encouraged" and since the citizens of Narnia are a wide and varied lot, the possibilities are endless: any animal (as Narnia is filled with good Talking Beasts), magical creatures such as unicorns, tree and water spirits, dwarfs, fawns (fully clothed), marshwiggles (see book four, The Silver Chair), kings, queens, knights...you get the idea. Since our night in Narnia is during the Golden Age of the reign of the Kings Peter and Edmond and Queens Susan and Lucy (and we are in a church hall) there would be, of course, no evil creatures present (witches, werewolves and the like), so please keep this in mind when creating a costume. If anyone needs help with or supplies for making a costume, please let Susie or Becky know and we will certainly be glad to help! Also, because visitors from our world are pulled into Narnia very suddenly, you may also come as you are without a costume. Dinner for the evening will be pot-roast served family-style. It is very important to RSVP for this event because of the cost and cooking time for the meal. Please call or text either Susie 251-752-2453 or Becky 314-740-4853 by Friday, March 22 if you are coming. Please do not arrive before 4:00, as the Wardrobe will only open at that time. CALLING ALL PARENTS AND SUPPORTERS OF OUR YOUTH: We are in need of two to three adult chaperones to make Narnia Night a success! All you have to do is show up (costume optional :), no planning or clean-up required. Please let Becky or Susie know if you can help. We are also in need of one of those holiday light projectors that has the setting for star light or snow. We would just be borrowing it for the evening and it would be used indoors. Again, please let Becky or Susie know if you have one we could borrow.

That's all for now. Blessing on the rest of your week! Mrs. Hanson: Happy Birthday to my bestie Mrs. Harbeson!!! She had a very important, special Birthday this past Sunday. I hope you all enjoyed you Spring Break, I sure did. But I am so ready for this 4th quarter! I know we are all going to rock this quarter and end this awesome year on the highest note! That means we all need to keep up, stay ahead of the game, work hard, give 110%, and keep track of everything going on this quarter! 6th grade is starting new content of Matter in Motion, and 7th and 8th grade are continuing content started before break. All classes will have a vocab quiz this Friday. One of the alumni events is a dinner and auction, each class donates an item to be auctioned off to raise money -4-
for the school. This year 7th grade will be putting together a "Made in Oklahoma" basket. Each 7th grader needs to bring at least one product that is made in Oklahoma or has an OU/OSU theme. Please bring this by Thursday. I hope to see a lot of you at the Alumni events this weekend! Ms. Pacey: Welcome back from Spring Break! I hope everyone had a fantastic Spring Break! I went to Hot Springs, AR to visit the national park there. This week we are picking back up where we left off before spring break. Algebra is working with different forms of equations. PreAlgebra is working with ratios, rates, and proportional relationships. Course 2 is working with Rational numbers. And Course 1 is starting a unit on data. Have a great week! Mr. Covert: Spring Break is over and spring itself is here! I hope everybody had a wonderful break and is ready to hit the ground running! Classes are picking up where we left off. In 8th grade, we’re looking at the United States’ attempt to create a Pacific empire in the late 1800s into the early 1900s. 7th grade is going over Eastern Asia. As for 6th grade, we’re picking up with the Renaissance and the changes in thinking it provoked in Europe. I pray that God continues to bless our school family as we move into the fourth quarter and the stretch run of the school year. Blessings on your week!

April 8-12, is ITBS Testing Week for Grades 2-8 in the mornings! What can YOU do to help your student be ready for testing week? Plenty! Make sure your student has a healthy breakfast! It’s hard to do your best thinking when your tummy is hurting! Remember, we offer nutritious breakfasts in the cafeteria each morning between 7:45 – 8:00 a.m. for $2.25. Testing typically starts at 8:30 a.m. sharp, so please be sure your student is on time. A tardy student is a distraction to a whole class of testing students; a great way to avoid this, is to be on time! As a reminder, classroom doors open at 8:10 a.m. each morning, and school begins/attendance is taken at 8:20 a.m. Students who arrive tardy will be admitted to their classrooms after the current test is finished. Please avoid doctor / dentist / etc. appointments during the morning hours this week. It is a tremendous distraction to your student, as well as the others in the class, to have students pulled out during the middle of a test. They should have multiple sharpened pencils with an eraser (not mechanical). It’s near the end of the year; ask your student if their pencils still have erasers and are more than an inch long? If not, it might be time to invest in a couple of new pencils! Surprise them with an encouraging note and/or nutritious snack in their backpack. Let them know YOU are their biggest fan!
