More It was too scanning based, positioning plays a key role in first work touch because of the time and space it gives you. We also need needed to see some examples of the types of first touch (How)

Their was a lot of emphasis on Scanning which was good, but not enough emphasis on the importance of positioning to give you more time and space.

NA YES/NO
COMMENTS
Yes
Players started to think about where they needed to take their first touch, but moving forward more emphasis needs to be on positioning so players are looking to face forwards.

Not sure whether nerves crept in on your first intervention but after this the 3 interventions afterwards were spot on. Well done.

As a young player I would like to see you demonstrate what you want to see more.
Ben The following is just some points to help you moving forward with your coaching and for you to reflect on. In the skill intro I would have liked to have seen you show some variations of different types of first touch (How) as you spent 6 minutes only focusing on scanning. Positioning is also vital to create space for yourself and is linked to scanning, so as a coach we need to make some reference to getting players to identify where they need to position themselves so they are in a better position to identify space to control and play Well done Ben, remember this is the first step on the advanced coaching ladder, keep working with coaches that are going to help your development and look forward to seeing your development.
Regards Dean
Coach: Ben Galloway Intervention sheet Time
Intervention
Type
12.49
Missed intervention: Players takes a poor touch into defender
14.34
Intervention: The player had time and space, took a first touch into a position where he was able to play forward, so this was a good decision by the player and an intervention was not relevant.
16.25
Missed Intervention: The player was facing forward but as the ball travelled he turned his body and took a touch backwards when he could have eliminated the defender. This is why positioning and a focus on taking a first touch into space is essential
16.55
Intervention: The player lost the ball even hough he had good positioning, you worked with him on identifying where to take the ball away from pressure - well done
18.35
Intervention: The player is unaware of the defender behind him and lets the ball go across his body where possession was lost, you worked with him on scanning.
20.56
Intervention: The player takes a touch back into trouble, you work with the player on where to take the touch to keep possession.
