MEDICAL AREA PROTOCOL FOR CODE YELLOW INJURIES In the event of a CODE YELLOW injury (contusions or distortions with evidence of fracture or dislocation because of obvious swelling, severe pain, deformity of the anatomical profile, total functional impotence; wounds requiring suturing; head trauma with loss and immediate recovery of consciousness; asthmatic crisis with slow resolution; spontaneously resolved epileptic seizure; spontaneous allergic reaction with exclusively cutaneous symptoms.)
1- First Aid Procedures are implemented by the designated person or by the coach. 2- Do not attempt to perform medical procedures (resetting fractures or dislocations, administering bronchodilators or other drugs‌) 3- Immediately inform the parents; tell them to come to the field as soon as possible; if they cannot reach the field within 30' maximum, contact 118. 4- Surveillance and assistance of the player by the designated person responsible until the arrival of the parents or ambulance. 5- Inform the Chief Medical Officer of the injury as soon as possible (by telephone/SMS). 6- Inform the Director of the Academy of the injury. 7- Urge the parents to take the child to the Emergency Room as swiftly as possible. 8- Ask the parents to telephone the Chief Medical Officer after going to the Emergency Room. 9- Call the injured child's family the next day. 10- The initial injury form is compiled by the person designated to do so. 11- The medical documentation needed for compiling the final injury form is collected. 12- When the player resumes the soccer activity, the final injury form is compiled by the person designated to do so. 13- The designated person files away the injury report (initial and final injury forms) together with a copy of all the medical records related to the injury. NB In case of a Code Yellow injury the Coach must entrust his group to a colleague. If this is not possible, after having put the injured player in the care of the person responsible, the Coach must take his group far away from the injured player.
