TRANS-BALTIMORE
THE BEACON
I believe Architecture can be the first phase in many as a catalyst in enhancing communities, cities as well as over all lifestyles. Architecture is more than this tangible complex idea come to fruition. Architecture is an answer to many problems but has no correct path to get the solution.

MAN VS. NATURE
TRANS-BALTIMORE 01 Transit oriented development will create a stronger connection to opportunities for Harlem Park/ Sandtown-Winchester residents as well as its surrounding neighbors. Developing housing and commercial use around public transportation, residents will be able to explore more opportunities Baltimore has to offer. Thus strengthening the connection of Harlem Park/ Sandtown-Winchester interdependence with the downtown Baltimore area.
TRANS-BALTIMORE BRINGS A HIGHER DENSITY OF PEOPLE TO THE AREA. CREATES TRANSPORTATION TO THE AREAS OF DOWNTOWN AND EAST BALTIMORE. CREATES JOB OPPORTUNITIES Harlem Park/ Sandtown-Winchester is located on the Western region of Baltimore and has a high percentage of vacant homes due its lack of connection with the Downtown area.

MAIN CATALYST AREA
HOW CAN TRANSITORIENTED DEVELOPMENT BRING AN IMPORTANCE TO LIVING IN HARLEM/ SANDTOWN-WINCHESTER?
CAN A LINKAGE OF PROGRAMED GREEN SPACES CREATE A FESTIVE AND ENJOYABLE COMMUNITY?
CAN ADDING A STRONG CATALYST SUCH AS AN INSTITUTION TO THE AREA CREATE A MORE DESIRABLE ENVIRONMENT?
Creating a strong connection to higher education can lead to more ownership as well as density.
Creating programs for the inner parks that exist in the area allows for more ownerships instead of having areas of “NO MAN ZONE”.Linking the parks through public transportation can be the catalyst.

THE BEACON 02 In this project my partner Nathaniel Mitchell and myself worked together to create a Hybridize housing type in the Franklin Square area of Baltimore Maryland. When thinking of the existing site conditions and what the developer wants we wanted to create an example of what Baltimore could offer. By creating a hybrid housing types instead of the already existing housing context we were hoping to bring a younger generation or family to the site. The site would be a beacon of hope and prosperity to the community by being a guide for the community and a signal to the right direction of Baltimore.

Renewal Tower 03 Downtown Baltimore has majority of the highrisers in Baltimore. Renewal Towers is located adjacent from the Baltimore inner harbor promenade. This design contains 200 units and luxuries amenities through out the structure. There is leasing office space as well as ground floor commercial space. Air pollution is an extreme problem in major cities around the world. Renewal towers will be the first tower of its kind that is elegant and a symbol of sustainability. By having its exterior structure filtrate the air smog produces around the city.

MAN VS. NATURE 04 Druid Hill Park is a recreational park North of Baltimore city. The park is increasing with occupants due to the renovation it is going through. The park has the Maryland zoo, an incredible variation of trees and greenery as well as a Reservoir and an adequate amount of playgrounds. By taking extractions from man made objects as well as nature, created a design with many interesting geometric attributes. Thus allowing for a pavilion to be designed to immerse one self into nature while interacting in an interior space.
Leaves“Ever changing for what ever season may come
There was a connection of levels that were obtainable from the pictures of the park texture and views.
Analysis different objects allow for a derivation of forms.

Merging characteristics of nature with human made object to be fluid through all seasons and programs.
Initial Extractions
This design was influenced by the idea of merging nature with architecture. Site analysis revealed the impact of the reservoir on the landscape and its views. The pavilion serves as a structure of nature merging with man. The pavilion like nature will change with the season to meet its needs.
