From architectural vision to the completed build, we provide multi-disciplinary expertise aimed at meeting the diverse needs of our client base. We embrace the latest technology, including Building Information Modelling (BIM), to assist in our
process and operations for design, visualisation, design team co-ordination and more.

Our Relationship
In 2007, M&S initially engaged DB3 when they began a major programme of projects. Our first task involved delivering 3 lite touch projects, which we successfully completed. As a result, we were entrusted with numerous full line store refurbishments in the following year’s programme.
In 2009, we were invited to participate in the Architectural framework tender, and our selection has led to our continuous presence on the framework ever since. Throughout this period, we have undertaken various accomplished projects for M&S, encompassing new stores, extensions, refurbishments, core renewal projects, and loose equipment consultancy.
Our experience includes working on full line stores with integrated food layouts, as well as projects solely focused on simply food and standalone foods. Presently, our ongoing projects adhere to the M&S blueprint model, and we employ Revit to model and execute our projects.

New Site Feasibility Studies
We are undertaking a number of feasibility studies for a developer on various sites in order to establish their viability for new M&S food stores. We have provided layouts for vehicular access, car park layouts and building locations on site. Some of the sites have been designed for multiple retail units.
M&S Uckfield
A new M&S foods store and adjacent retail unit with car parking in an out-of-town location. Our involvement on this project commenced with a feasibility study for the site working alongside a developer. The shell building is currently under construction, we are engaged on this project until completion.
M&S Swindon
An existing store in an out-of-town retail park which is being upsized into an existing adjacent
unit and a void unit. We have been involved on this project for a number of years since M&S commenced exploring how the existing store could be grown to accommodate their requirement to upsize the provision at this location. The upsize includes a brand-new foods layout, the reconfiguration and expansion of the clothing and home department, upgrade to the customer WC’s and a new digital customer café.
M&S Wrexham
An existing shell, which is currently receiving refurbishment works by a developer to bring it up to M&S specification. We have been involved since the commencement of this project, advising the developer of the M&S specification, reviewing their drawing packs and planning applications on behalf of M&S. We have prepared the detailed design for the fit-out of the unit to new store food specification, based on 15k model store, which has been modelled using Revit.

M&S Liverpool
DB3 successfully transformed M&S Liverpool with an impressive city centre refurbishment, earning us the CIAT award for technical excellence.
M&S Gemini
M&S Gemini, led by DB3, showcases an impressive refurbishment and extension, enhancing the mainline retail park store and providing an exceptional shopping experience for customers.
M&S King’s Lynn
In King’s Lynn, we undertook a significant refurbishment and extension of the M&S city centre store, revitalising it to meet the growing demands of shoppers in the area.
M&S Worcester
We embarked on a substantial refurbishment and sideways extension at the M&S Worcester store. This initiative allowed the store to modernise its facilities and offer a broader range of products.
M&S The Gyle
In Edinburgh, DB3 led the major refurbishment of M&S Gyle, aimed at enhancing the overall shopping environment and customer experience.
M&S Shoreham
DB3 spearheaded a notable upsize and extension at M&S Shoreham, including the addition of a new food hall. The development transformed it into a full-line store, catering to a wider variety of customer needs.
M&S Scunthorpe
Located on a retail park, we completed works on M&S Scunthorpe, introducing a new full-line store to the area, expanding their reach and providing shoppers with an extensive range of products.
M&S Bury
Our development of M&S Bury brought a new city centre store to the area, providing shoppers with a modern and accessible location for their shopping needs.
M&S Widnes
DB3 worked on M&S Widnes, introducing a new city centre store and enhancing the shopping options available to residents and visitors alike.
M&S Trafford Centre
We led a significant refurbishment at M&S Trafford Centre, aiming to refresh the store’s appearance and improve its facilities for an enhanced shopping experience.
M&S York
In the heart of York, We carried out a major city centre refurbishment of M&S York, revitalising the store to better serve its customers and complement the surroundings.
M&S Aintree
Led by DB3, M&S Aintree experienced an upsize and welcomed a new food hall, offering shoppers an improved and more diverse selection of products.
M&S Sears
We completed a full-line store fit-out for M&S Sears, ensuring that the store’s interior and layout align with the company’s brand image and customer preferences.
M&S Hereford and M&S Uxbridge
DB3 had a significant role in enhancing the shopping experience at M&S Hereford and M&S Uxbridge, incorporating subtle improvements to meet the increasing demands of local shoppers.
M&S Prestatyn
We completed works on M&S Prestatyn, establishing a new full-line store to cater to the needs of the local community, offering convenience and a diverse selection of products.
M&S Beckenham and M&S Lincoln
DB3 played a part in renewal schemes for M&S Beckenham and M&S Lincoln. These initiatives aimed to refresh the stores, ensuring they remain appealing and relevant to customers.

Central Coop
DB3 have a longstanding relationship with Central Coop, as the sole provider of Architecture, Principal Designer and Project Management services for their entire portfolio. Projects include new build stores, funeral care and petrol filling stations, from RIBA Stages 0-6.
Coop Group
DB3 acts as Architect and Principal Designer for the development of retail stores on behalf of The Coop Group. DB3 work closely with the Coop’s delivery teams on a range of services across their estate of 6,000 properties, including providing internal store planning and refurbishment designs.
Morrisons
DB3 are appointed to the framework of Architects to support Morrisons’ development programme, providing services from RIBA Stages 0-6. We have been responsible for a variety of projects including new build, conversion, extension and remodel schemes for stores.
HUGO BOSS
As part of a framework agreement, DB3 have played a pivotal role in assisting HUGO BOSS with the separation of its brand identity, resulting in the establishment of distinct HUGO and BOSS stores. Within this agreement, our scope of work encompasses a range of services, including Architecture and Principal Designer expertise.
Adidas
Adidas AG enlisted the services of DB3 for a comprehensive design solution encompassing multiple disciplines. Our involvement has encompassed various projects, such as overseeing the design of their flagship store and managing the relocation of their offices to Oxford Street.
Boots
DB3 provide retail project management services to Boots on a range of ‘store intervention’ projects. Undertaking works at more than 200 stores across the UK we have successfully implemented schemes including store refurbishments, and projects relating to energy saving initiatives.

DB3 Architecture & Design
Providing RIBA Chartered sustainable architecture, urban design and masterplanning, with supporting services including BIM, visualisation and interior design. DB3’s architectural team comprises 35+ architects, supported by a strong team of 50+ technologists and architectural assistants with the capacity to resource projects across all sectors.
DB3 Building Services Engineering
Offering CIBSE Chartered Mechanical and Electrical Engineering to all sectors. The team have particular experience in the leisure sector, having delivered numerous wet and dry leisure facilities across the UK. The team are CIBSE Low Carbon Energy Assessors and offer Thermal Modelling (DSM).
Formation 3D (F3D)
Drone operated aerial surveys, photography and videography by DB3’s in-house CAA qualified drone operators. A low risk, time efficient alternative for building inspections and land surveys. F3D also offers highly accurate 3D data capture & mapping of existing structures using point cloud, RTK and PPK technology, turning into 3D digital models for construction, design & facilities management projects.
DB3 Net Zero
Drawing on the experience of our in-house mechanical & electrical engineers, architects, energy assessors, Passivhaus designers and sustainability experts. Our suite of Net Zero consultancy services is broken down into six categories which cover topics around whole life cycle. These categories include; Carbon, Efficiency, Passivhaus, Wellbeing, Performance & Compliance.
DB3 Professional Services
The team deliver building surveying, retail project management, principal designer, contract administration and NEC supervisor roles, across the UK. Working alongside DB3’s architectural and M&E teams, these roles can be incorporated into a multi-disciplinary offering or procured as an independent service.
