Dallas Children’s Theater is a proud member of TYA/USA, TCG and ASSITEJ, The International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People. #dctCharlottesWeb
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
The DCT family lovingly dedicates our production of CHARLOTTE’S WEB to our dear friend and colleague, Trish Long, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 23 after a year and a half long battle with lung cancer.
Trish’s talents were numerous. Before her graduation in 1980 from the Arts Magnet High school, her career in the performing arts got off to an amazing start when she was cast in a featured role in the award winning TV movie Crisis at Central High, starring Joanne Woodward. She also acted in a couple of commercials. After graduation, she worked in various capacities at several local theaters including the Haymarket Theater in far North Dallas. There she became acquainted with Kathy Burks Marionettes, which immediately sparked her fascination with the art of puppetry. She joined the troupe and soon became a skilled puppeteer and voice actor.
Trish also spent more than 26 years in the marketing department at Dallas Children’s Theater. Her contributions were key to attracting new audiences and creating awareness of DCT’s Broadway-like offerings. Thanks in large part to her contributions, more than 5.5 million have experienced DCT programming.
Trish was bright, versatile, and so creative. She had a generous heart and a great sense of humor. She was a kind, dedicated friend, and she will be sorely missed by many.
Micah Brooks is thrilled to be back after first appearing at DCT last year in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (Fenris/White Stag). Additional local credits include Disney’s Beauty and The Beast (Beast), Puffs (Cedric/Voldy), and Jack Frost (Father Winter/Boreas). Thank you so much for supporting live, local theatre!
A veteran of Dallas area theater, Mr. Burks has worked with Dallas Children’s Theater for many years as an Equity actor, stage manager, sound designer, and director. He is a founding member of the nationally acclaimed Kathy Burks Theatre of Puppetry Arts and has earned the distinction of Master Puppeteer. A popular actor with DCT audiences, Doug will be remembered for his many roles on the DCT stage, which include The Giver (The Giver), Goodnight Moon (Larry the Tooth Fairy), James and the Giant Peach (Old Grasshopper), Peter Pan (Captain Hook), Young King Arthur (Merlin), The Emperor’s New Clothes (the Emperor), The Mummy’s Claw (Sir Nevil Blore), Jungalbook (Baloo), Holes (Mr. Sir), and Treasure Island (Long John Silver). He also portrayed the title characters in Frankenstein, The Reluctant Dragon, The Canterville Ghost, and the 2001 production of The BFG (Big Friendly Giant). Mr. Burks was a member of the first graduating class of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, Texas.
Sam Cordes was “born in a trunk” in Kansas City, Missouri and has been doing professional theater since he was a piglet. Cordes received his M.F.A. in Theatre from UNLV. His favorite animal roles include a brontosaurus in The Dinosaur Musical and a rooster in Lucky Duck at The Coterie Theatre and a monkey in It’s A Jungle Out There with Stone Lion Puppet Theatre.

“Unbelievable to see Justin perform today in a play with Blue Pegasus because in the beginning we almost gave up. I cannot express how thankful I am for all the patience and dedication all the teachers and members of the staff of the DCT show for my child. The classes helped Justin overcome so many challenges he had when he was little like his sensory issues, his difficulties transitioning between activities, his anxiety accepting changes and improvisations. He has grown so much physically and emotionally since his first class, he used to have meltdowns almost every time when he started but now he is able to play different characters in one play, memorizing the lines of each and every one of them which helps boost his confidence and self-esteem and motivates his creativity. When he performs he gives it all. I’m so proud of my boy and the Blue Pegasus team.”

TI and the TI Foundation are proud to support the Dallas Children’s Theater.
Thank you for helping children and youth explore their imaginations and appreciate differences.
List reflects gifts received as of March 27, 2023.
On behalf of the 250,000+ children and families served annually, we gratefully acknowledge our donors who through their contributions made it possible for DCT to present over 500 performances of high quality, professional theater for youth and families. Although program space limits our ability to publicly recognize only donors of $500 and above, we deeply and sincerely appreciate every contribution. As ticket sales cover only half our costs, your annual financial support is critical to introducing North Texas children to the magic of live theater. Should you wish to be added to this extraordinary list of donors or suggest corrections to our list, please contact the DCT Donor & Corporate Relations Department at (214) 978-0110 and THANK YOU!
