Welcome to the Elite “Dozen Diamonds” inaugural sale. When we talk about elite females in the Gelbvieh breed, many things come to mind. For some that means show heifer, some will think donor prospects, while others think extremely productive brood cows. Well, I think this selection offers up all the above. This set of genetics is brought to you by some of the most progressive programs in the Gelbvieh business. The drought across the country has been a major concern to all of us. However, the stark reality of this has been that the good Gelbvieh genetics are in very strong demand. Please make plans to join us on December 15th in Kearney, Nebraska. Take advantage of these Diamonds and let them propel your programs to the forefront of the breed! Don’t hesitate to contact me, or any of the consignors for help in finding you next breeding piece.

Swanson Cattle Company • Choice of Bred Heifers Lot 2
Choice of Bred Heifers
DJS Derringer 96X
Offering Pick of the 24 Balancer Keeper Heifers, this is a super set of bred females that range in percentage from ¼ to ¾ Gelbvieh and are bred to a set of outstanding herd bulls: Derringer, Ludicris and Final Answer. The heifers were synchronized and bred from 4/14/12 to 4/19/12 and were pasture exposed to Angus bulls. The offering includes 9 Gunslinger daughters, 8 Ludicris daughters, 4 Good Boy 201U daughters and 1 Final Answer, 1 Bismark and 1 BC Lookout daughter. Swanson Cattle Co has been in the business since 1982 and has grown into one of the most prominent commercial bull producers in the country. SCC has always focused on breeding functional, easy fleshing cattle that will make a productive genetic contribution to any breeding program. This is the first time Jeff has let go of the pick of the Keeper Heifers. Terms: Bred heifer must be chosen by December 28, 2012.
Cedar Top Ranch • Pick of 2012 Heifer Calves Lot 3
Pick of the 2012 Heifer Calves Offering pick of the 2012 Heifer Crop, there is not another outfit in the Gelbvieh breed that has had any bigger impact on the breed than Cedar Top Ranch. Scott and his family have offered this opportunity before and I have never heard any complaints about what there was available to select from. They are all there waiting for you to study. A herd of cattle that are synonymous with making a living without many inputs in the great Sandhills of Nebraska and this summer was an even greater test of these genetics. Red or black, high or low percentage, ETs to bull breds there are over 200 to pick from. This could make a huge impact on Gelbvieh future and a lot surer bet than the November Lottery.

Choice of a flush mate to LAMJ Queen of Spades 2673Z, who was named a division champion at the 2012 Black and Gold Classic in Missouri, Custer County Fair, Nebraska State Fair and Reserve Division Champion at the 2012 American Royal. These ET Heifers are out of a tremendous donor female, BARG 683S, a carrier free daughter of Morgan’s Direction. Several of her sons are working both in commercial and purebred herds. We have retained many natural and ET daughters from this great female and all of them are following in their mother’s footsteps. Lots 4A and 4B are sired by the 2006 Breeder’s Choice Gelbvieh Futurity Champion XXB Big N Rich, who has been consistently breeding sound, stout made cattle that will add function to any herd. Both females are 75% Gelbvieh Balancer females that we feel are extremely versatile and can be used to produce great Balancer or Gelbvieh cattle in a breed up program. Both females have been 50K DNA profiled, coat colored and polled status tested. They are PI BVD negative and tested free of known genetic defects. Both Lot 4 A and 4B have been entered in the 2013 NWSS.

Schroeder Ranch • Open Purebred Heifer Lot 10
SGRI Z257 Here is a Beretta daughter that has lots of potential to go with her 116 weaning ratio. Her Big N’ Rich dam is off to a great start posting an average weaning ratio of 110 on her first two calves. Z257 is what we hoped to get combining two Reserve Champions with a full sister to our foundation sire Absolute Black. Z257’s granddam 7N posts a production record of 4@107 for weaning, and 3@106 for yearling. Two maternal sisters to the dam of Z257 have a combined production record of 8@104 for weaning. Z257 is a heifer that has capacious rib shape, thick, wide hip, sound made structure, and a soft made attractive phenotype that should be productive for years to come.

BAG Miss North Bay 27X 103Z BAG MISS NORTH BAY 27X 103Z is a super attractive March heifer prospect that might be a little green, because of her age, but given the time and inputs, she could be the most competitive in the lineup. 103Z blends some old with the new genetics as she is out of the first crop from the North Bay bull and a time tested 878 ½ blood daughter. She has a ton of natural angularity to her rib shape, is sound as you can make one from the ground up, and comes complete with a very nicely balanced set of EPDs. 103Z comes from a long line of powerful cows such as 920J, 7P and 72M, all females that offer something great in their own rights. This is a special heifer for a special sale, and I have a feeling she will make someone especially proud to have made this purchase. Don’t miss her on Dec. 15th.
