Gelbvieh The lowest input major breed – MARC data shows Gelbvieh’s advantage in mature cow size, lower maintenance and feed costs, early puberty, fertility and milk. Higher output – Calves with bigger weaning weights, fast feedlot gains and more carcass weight, more pounds, more dollars! Take another look – Through selection Gelbvieh breeders have reduced birth weight and shortened gestation length. The perfect complement – Gelbvieh bulls on British-based cowherds, the SmartCross® system. 10900 Dover Street Westminster, CO 80021 (303) 465-2333 Fax: (303) 465-2339

General Sale Information
Add Pounds. Add Profit.
National Sale Committee
John Shearer Co-Chair Ken Flikkema Co-Chair Jim Beastrom Dave Judd Ed Kalianoff David Slaughter Adam Verner
The highest price per pound doesn’t always equate to profit. Even on today’s carcass grids, weight still drives value. Profit comes from pounds of calf at weaning, the ability to gain efficiently in the feedlot and go to the rail with more pounds of high quality, high yield carcass.
620-628-4621 406-586-6207 605-224-5789 785-566-3770 701-475-2694 270-965-9909 706-774-0091
With higher input costs, isn’t it time you did the math and put Gelbvieh into your crossbreeding program? Gelbvieh or Balancer bulls will give you more pounds and more profit. As a bonus, you get a set of replacement heifers that will be your hardest working cows. Visit www.smartcross.org to find out how to Add Pounds and Add Profit to your next calf crop.

Whitney 941 is a late March cherry red beauty that so nicely blends an elegant front end with rib shape, and a long square hip. This style and balance helped her be named Res. Calf Champion at the Kansas State Fair. She was weaned 3 weeks and was shown against heifers who’d been weaned over 2 months. 941 received many complements from astute cattlemen. This sweetheart has a super disposition as Rogers 8 year old grandson was leading her at the state fair. Great females like 941 are what the Gelbvieh Breed is known for. Nitro 3161N sired this elegant lady. As is the tradition with the Nitro progeny she is just “Made Right”. Nitro sired 4 of the 5 bulls in our 2005 Denver pen of 5. This being said, we shouldn’t be surprised how nicely she’s designed. Several Nitro daughters have been selected for the Kansas and Nebraska State Female Sales. Just as productive is 941’s dam. 4141 had her 1st daughter selected for the Nebraska Female Sale, her 2nd daughter was selected for the Kansas Female Sale selling to Jumping Cow Ranch, CO and Waltz Gelbvieh, MO, respectively. 4141’s 3rd calf another heifer was retained in our herd and is one of our top bred heifers. The 4th daughter is here for your appraisal. Combining great sires and dams equals success. 941 should be a moderate productive cow when her show career is over. 941 is a ¾ blood and the ¼ red Angus is from the Hobo line which is known for productive females. Let this cherry red heart throb be your next show heifer/donor prospect as she sells in the National Sale in Denver.

all it took! He was crowned Champion Balancer Bull at the American Royal in Kansas City this past November. What a mating!!!! His Angus Sire, 1I2 is the Feed Efficiency Leader and his Dam is possibly the most prolific cow in the Gelbvieh breed. G565 has produced 2 Futurity Champions... A daughter producing the National Champion Ludacris (who sired a National Champion with his first calf crop)….Another daughter is the dam of the 1st National Champion Balancer Bull, Midnight Cowboy. We were asked to reach a higher standard, well ladies and gentlemen, with this Homozygous Polled Bull by birthright, I believe we have done it!

Talk about ‘stacking’ Champions!! This powerfully muscled Balancer bull is a true “blueblood” with royalty for parents. His dam, Lola, was the Supreme Champion Female at the prestigious Black Hills Stock Show and as you know his sire was the past Reserve National Champion and Breeder’s Choice Bull Futurity Champion. Study this dark red herdsire prospect very carefully for he is nearly flawless in every aspect. He is deep ribbed, wide sprung, strong topped, level hipped, neat fronted and Homozygous Polled by birthright! Here is the bull that puts the Balance in Balancers!! We have decided to offer choice of our Silverado sired bulls from our Show string. This will be our last offering of natural service cattle from this outstanding herd bull. Silverado was loaded with thickness and power in a moderate and complete package. He was a high performance bull with above average milk. His daughters are very maternal, with added rib, fleshing ability and high milk production. The sons out of Silverado, such as BEA Johnny Walker and BABR Gentleman Jack, are massive, full of rib and muscle shape and sound. This is a great opportunity to purchase a young herd bull that will work in any herd.

Bull #3
Siv Ditie is a balancer bull that we are very excited about. His Dam, “Dixie”, is our Angus donor female that has become a herd bull producing powerhouse that never misses. Dixie is also the dam of BEA Sureshock , one of the resident herd sires for Jumping Cow Gelbvieh that is quickly making a name for himself. Sure Shock is sired by Johnny Walker, a Silverado son, making him a ¾ brother to Sive Ditie. This young herd bull s thick made, well balanced and has a big future ahead of him.
Dirty Little Secret’s dam needs no introduction; she has produced the 2009 Reserve National Champion Balancer Bull, BABR New Secret, and the 2007 Reserve National Champion Purebred Female, GLWG DIVA. She has proven that what she can do and continues to impress us with every calf she carries. Dirty Little Secret is a long bodied, deep sided bull that fits into an attractive package. This herd sire prospect will not stay a secret for long. (He is also the 2010 bull futurity entry)

EGL Butterscotch W001 ET is the result of a mating planned to combine the positive Tenderness genes of her parents. The unplanned part was the feminine beauty of the heifer. Her extension and grace on the move make her a heifer that is not only attractive to look at, but also suggests longevity. Her breed leading performance numbers suggest a future of big rugged calves at her side. Plus, they are sure to be attractive and carry the positive tenderness genes. Her sire was the high selling bull in the 2007 Bar Arrow bull sale. Her dam also traces back to Bar Arrow; their 1999 National Champion Female. Butterscotch sells in her entirety.

CIRS 9RU has caught the attention of many in the Show Ring, but should also be considered as YOUR next great female. She IS the higher standard – the data shows you that she’ll produce performance with carcass value….in the top 4% for CW, the top 5% for WW, and the top 10% for YW, TM and GL. CIRS 9RU is ALSO DNA tested HOMOZYGOUS POLLED. Take a look at CIRS 9RU and you’ll find she’s got plenty of capacity, lots of rib shape, excellent teats and udder structure, and she’s structurally correct. Consider the calf CIRS 9RU is carrying as a great opportunity to raise a great one before anyone else has a chance. CIRS 9RU is bred to CIRS Alternating Current 7RU (“AC”) for a late April calf. “AC” was syndicated to an exclusive group of breeders following his impressive showing at the 2009 breeders choice Gelbvieh Bull Futurity – so this is the FIRST opportunity to own “AC” progeny.

When Jeff stopped at my outfit we looked through all the cattle trying to find just that right one lot for the national sale. Jeff had a hard time deciding which direction to go so we made it real simple. Bar Arrow Cattle Co. is offering a pick from the entire 2009 calf crop….bulls and heifers. We felt this way you can pick exactly what your operation needs. You can find your next herdsire or donor cow. How about a show prospect for that junior exhibitor in your life, well we got you covered there as well. When you come out, make sure you plan extra time to look at the mommas in their working clothes. You won’t be disappointed!

This years Post Rock National Sale entry is an ET daughter of Post Rock Twila 223M2, the high selling female in the Gelbvieh breed this year. This heifer won her class at the Iowa Junior National this past summer just 3 weeks after being weaned with out being creep fed. She done a lot of growing since then but still has the beautiful neck extension and eye appeal that sets her apart in the show ring and in the pasture. We plan to have her mated to Great Western for a truly unique and exclusive genetic package for her new owner.
Middle Creek Farms is proud to set another higher standard by offering the chance to choose from an expected group of 15 calves in September. You can pick from the heifers or the bulls. We will have the calves weaned. All the risk will is gone, just come north to God’s Country and take your pick! We have provided the exact pedigree of the calf along with the dam’s, sire’s and embryo’s estimated EPD’s. Talk about breed changers. These rascals will be right where they needs to be in terms of performance and production and in the top 1% of the breed for CW, REA, MB, CV and FM!
Post Rock Cattle Co.
A son of this mating, MCFG 113U topped all 1,200 bulls at the Midland Bull Test with a Midland Bull Test ratio of 120. This came from the following ratios: NR 105, ADG 133, YW 120 and RFI of 120. He also had a scrotal of 43 sc. at 14 months of age.
Bill & Leland Clark• Barnard, KS•785-792-6244
The dam 927J has a birth weight ratio of 100 on 9 head, a weaning ratio of 107 on 7 head and a yearling ratio of 111 on 3 head. The sire MCFG Bruce Almighty is HOMOZYGOUS BLACK and HOMOZYGOUS POLLED. His dam MCFG 41K had 4 E.T. sons in Midland’s 1st feed efficiency test and all 4 were above average. So if you’re looking for feed efficiency, we have got it stacked generation after generation after generation. Bruce Almighty sons have topped the Gelbvieh division at the Midland Bull Test in Gain, RFI (feed efficiency), and always command top dollar. He is a moderate framed bull who’s calves come very easy and their growth rates are above average. We have had over 100 calves from him and first calf heifers, and never helped a one! His daughters have beautiful udders and are our best group of replacement heifers. They are very moderate in size and are exceptionally docile, just like their sire.

Bar None Ranch and S & S Gelbvieh have opened the gates to allow you the opportunity to purchase a flush from any of their highly successful donor females. Over the past 27 years our philosophy has been focused on producing Gelbvieh seedstock with maternal strength that perform well on forages. The highest standards have been applied in the selection of our donors to ensure that their offspring will be quality individuals. Structurally sound, easy keeping, low maintenance seedstock with a wide spread from birth to weaning are a must. We recognize the importance of cow families in a successful breeding program. Many of our donors are from cow families that have helped to mold this great breed. These donors have certainly produced individuals that have often been recognized in the show ring. In addition, success is also measured through a customer’s ability to realize improvements in their profitability by using these genetics. This group is certainly our most profitable females and have proven to work well for other programs. Recently we have completed the DNA testing on our entire donor group. This gives us an additional tool in helping to better understand the genetic traits that are economically important for the beef industry. Space and time do not permit us to share all the details of each donor. Feel free to contact us for a complete detailed listing of donor females, their accomplishments, and availability for flushing. This opportunity guarantees a minimum of 6 frozen Grade 1 or 2 embryos with a maximum of 10 embryos. The flush will be performed at the buyer’s expense and the seller’s convenience. We thought Care Free 534U could be good just like her Dam. CareFree 533N was as a show heifer but what we are really excited about is the “look” she has to be a super brood cow. CareFree 534U was 2008 North American Grand Champion, 2009 Eastern Regional Grand Champion, 2009 Res Grand Champion Jr. National and repeat 2009 North American Grand Champion. You can see from her photo how much depth of body and overall capacity she really has. And folks, CareFree is as sound in her structural make up as anyone would want. Doesn’t she really look like a beautiful brood cow? Wow it has been fun and exciting and we are offering cowmen a chance to experience what potential CareFree has a brood cow. When we get to Denver lets talk brood cows. Thank you for your interest. Butler Creek Farms, Michael, Barbi, Zach and Ethan.

When we saw this heifer at 12 months of age running in a pasture with about 50 other heifers we knew then she had the makings to be a great cow and we were fortunate to get her bought. Kali started her show career by sweeping the North American 2009 as Grand Champion Gelbvieh Female and she is entered in Denver. If you are looking for that next great female we believe Kali could be the one. Kali is really powerful in her make up with tremendous rib shape, depth, length of body and really clean made. The Louisville judge made the comment, “I have not seen a heifer with this much capacity that has so much width of base with perfect shoulders all on sound feet and legs walking on a big foot.” Folks, Kali offers a choice of many bulls to pick from because of overall mass and scale. You need to evaluate her and tell me what you think about this brood cow prospect and yes she is a full sister to BTI Miss Kali 2005K and we all know what she did.

One look at the pedigree of EGL P105 and you see why she is in our donor pen. Phoebe, Miss Prime Rate 54U, Miss 61Y, and Lady in Black are all common names in the breed. After searching through over 1,000 females in the pastures at Eagle Pass a group of breeders from Great Britain selected P105 as their first choice of our donor dams. She rewarded them with an average of 14 freezable embryos on three flushes. We are offering a flush on P105 with a guarantee of 8 embryos and 4 pregnancies. If your flush yields more than 8 embryos, you have the option to purchase them at the pro rata price.

Offering one flush to a bull of the buyer’s choice; guaranteeing a minimum of 6 transferable embryos and maximum of 10 to be performed at the convenience of the seller and the expense of the buyer. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and will be the only flush ever offered from this great female. As a first calf heifer she produced the 2001 bull futurity runner up BABR Playboy, that grossed $24,000 in the national sale. 23K is also the dam of BABR Gentleman Jack, a past sale topper from the Beastrom Bull Sale, that makes his home at Little Bull Farm in Kentucky. She is a bull raising machine and each of her bulls finds their way to the front of the pen. We have multiple replacement females in the herd and they are following in their mother’s footsteps. 23K is one of the foundation females in our personal herd and is one of the most consistent and top producing females on the entire Beastrom Ranch. Do not miss this opportunity to own these elite genetics. (She is open and ready to flush)

JDPD Astro 407 JDPD Rumor Had It 407U probably needs not introduction. She is the current National Jr Champion Female, and a record selling individual. Rumor has been popular for her looks and design since she hit the road last year. She took top honors at 2008 Tulsa State Fair, 2008 North American International Livestock Expo and 2009 National Western Grand Champion Jr Female. She continued that winning streak in Iowa at the 2009 Jr. Nationals Classic, being selected as Grand Champion. She recently was chosen at the Reserve Grand Champion honors at the American Royal. She has been popular in the show ring and in the stalls due to her completeness and total power. She is definitely a mama in the making. Rumor is big ribbed, explosive top and top with a softness that makes you drool. She puts all of it together on the move and she strides out with a big foot and fluid movement. Of course she had better, because her pedigree has a lot to live up too. Her dam is also the dam of a top leading A.I. sire in Canada and the US, JDPD Astro 407 and the young herd sire JDPD Movado, that sold in the yards at Denver. Rumor Had It 407U is also the maternal sib to the up and coming JDPD Rumor Has It 407W, who made a strong showing at Louisville just last month. Rumor is sired by Headline, and he is no stranger to putting winners at the back drop. Rumor is a half sib to the popular JDPD Sonador 46S, also a daughter of Headline, that sold in the Dromgooles Heaven sale for $10,000 for ½ posession. Headline daughters made a name for themselves in the show ring, but are now doing it in the pasture with consistency, gorgeous udders and easy fleshing. Being stout on the hoof is impressive, but her stats on paper are the most impressive. She posts flawless EPD’s and Igentiy scores. She sports above breed average on all traits. Her Igenity scores are exceptional with She was the record setting female at the LoneStar Classic Fundraising Sale. Her new owners are delighted to be able to offer a flush opportunity that you won’t want to miss. She will have lots of friends on sale day, so here is your chance to take home a piece of Rumor’s genetics. She is bred to calve in April, and will be ready to flush there shortly after. Selling the right to flush to the bull of the buyers choice. Guaranteed 6 #1 embryos, with a cap of 10. Additional eggs will be prorated to cover flush cost at the discretion of the owners.

Miss Carmel Kisses is an angular, long, deep bodied heifer that should have a lot of success in the show ring, just like her mother had. She definitely has the maternal power to make an awesome cow! We are retaining the right to 1 flush at our expense.

A big thank you goes to both the Priest and Haglund families for their dedication to the American Gelbvieh Junior Association.Proceeds from the donation heifer support AGJA programs such as the AGJA Classic each summer. Add Pounds.
