By the way, she looks real good now despite the hard winter. 4162 has ratios of 107 for weaning and 109 for yearling. This bull has eye appeal, depth, muscle performance and sound structured. Halfblood Maine - Gelbvieh bull. Excellent choice to use on a set of straight English bred cows. Note the overall power and style in 0113X. We like the performance and carcass traits, that this mating has to offer the industry. Here you get the carcass traits from the Maine’s, which outperform all other continental breeds for grade and yield grade and the maternal traits of the Gelbvieh, which have proved to be the most efficient cows in the business. When we get the DNA results back we will know his sire since we run this set of cows in a multiple sire pasture.

Lee Leachman of Leachman Cattle of Colorado (LCoC) has utilized Gelbvieh genetics in their program for over thirty years. Gelbvieh cattle excel on the maternal side, when LCoC measure profitability at weaning, Gelbvieh cattle win: more pounds weaned per cow exposed than any other breed. LCoC use for their Continental breeds, Simmental, Charolais and Gelbvieh. Lee says that today you have three tools to improve your herd. 1. Additive genetic merit 2. Hybrid vigor and 3. Breed differences.
