Black Label is one of those bulls that doesn’t come along very often. He’s heavy muscled, softmade with added bone. He lays his shoulders in smooth and yet offers a tremendous amount of power while still being able to get out and move freely and solidly. He is out of past futurity champion, RTRT Solution, and our 878 donor cow, JBOB 5706R “Abbey.” His dam was the high selling open heifer at the historic JBOB Farms Dispersal, with her dam, JBOB 3292K, being the overall high seller at the dispersal. Black Label should sire calves that can work in every program. Solution offspring have found success in the show ring with daughter, Whitney, being named Grand Champion Gelbvieh Female at the 2011 NWSS. Label has also found the winner’s circle being named Grand Champion Balancer at the Eastern Regionals and reserve division winner at NAILE, Louisville, Ky. Label also offers maternal strength with female makers 878 and Echo as well as 92C in his pedigree. This offering combines the look and EPD strength along with being both homozygous black and homozygous polled. Black Label is an exciting breeding piece worthy of consideration when marking your ballots.

Wow! Where do we start with this guy? Count Bassey is a bull that gives that great look from the side and yet doesn’t disappoint you when you get in behind him. He offers length of body yet still has plenty of rib with extremely clean, level lines. He is one of those bulls that can get out and cover ground on a big foot and plenty of bone. We have had high expectations for him from early on because of the success his 3/4 sister, GHGF 004 Tess 310W, experienced. Justin has shown her for the last two years and never stood lower than Reserve Division on a national level. She recently calved and has a near perfect udder. With 004, Echo, Black Image and HYEK Candy in his pedigree, this guy offers tons of maternal power. His dam enters our donor pen this fall after producing three phenomenal AI calves. She has settled to the first AI breeding each year and Count Bassey’s scrotal measurement of 40 cm at a year old are evidence of the fertility in this family. Combine the maternal aspect, eye appeal, fertility, a great set of EPD’s and the homozygous black, homozygous polled factors and this guy is one to keep in mind when marking your ballot.

It is with great pleasure that Warner Beef brings DLW EDISON 6718X. Three “Ss” sum up this bull; SOFT, STOUT and SOUND. The mixing of superior phenotype and calving sire CTR GOOD NIGHT 715T with the performance of an outstanding BENNETT KINGPIN daughter raises the stakes a level. Not only will you fall in love with his great looks, but his performance makes him a must have sire. Top 30% calving ease, Top 20% growth and Top 15% carcass value. A great man by this name invented luxuries at the time that became necessities to us. This bull could do the same for your program.

Premium Balance 462Y is super heavy muscled with smooth balanced patterns, extremely deep bodied, big thick wide topped, huge rear quarter that ties power and performance into a very eye appealing homozygous black and homozygous polled package, from the ground up he is very complete. He started out with a 78 lb. BW and then a 879 lb. ADJ 205 WW with a phenomenal WW ratio of 116 from a 1st calf heifer who is one tremendous heavy milking female. Her dam 82J came from the popular Middle Creek Farms in Montana that traces back to one of Ken’s foundation cows, Black Rolls 4G ET that he sold this year at age 15. His sire, Final Answer’s popularity continues to soar even at age 12 due to his ability to sire consistent low birth and extreme growth, his daughters have excellent udder structure, longevity and fleshing ability. We are excited to bring you Premium Balance 462Y to the Balancer Bull Futurity and to know that we have brought our very best for your appraisal.

Super looks, super genetics and ratios to back them up — 95 birth ratio and 104 weaning ratio. Grandam 14M is the best Red Gelbvieh Donor on the Ranch and makes good purebreds and Balancers. An added bonus is, the genetics indicate he can be used on heifers as well as cows.

We are proud to bring Stuckys Boxcar 418Y for your evaluation. DNA tested by Igenity Homozygous Black and Homozygous Polled. Stuckys Boxcar comes from proven genetics. His maternal grand sire Bon View New Design 878 has proven to be above average for marbling in the Angus breed. His paternal grandsire is Bear Mountain Freight Train 350L, who excels in calving ease, growth, and carcass; he also is proven above average for marbling in the Angus breed. We purchased his dam Hedgewood Estelle 418 with a vision to add proven Angus genetics as a base for a quality Balancer program. When I found her I was impressed with her depth of rib, middle capacity, and her near perfect udder, plus she was already proven her progeny ratios were 94 BW, 102 WW, 122 IMF and 101 RE. Boxcar is her first Balancer calf and his ratios are 98 BW and 107 WW. Boxcar is a member of his Balancer sire Stuckys Union Pacific 2nd calf crop they are an impressive group averaging 84# BW and 701# WW and very gentle. Union Pacific routinely adds depth of body to his calves and I believe Stuckys Boxcar is a great example of this trait. Stuckys Boxcar 418Y could lead the Balancer program in traditional Gelbvieh performance and docility, with the addition of marbling.

Soundness, substance and volume — these are three things that we strive for in the Beef Industry and that is exactly what Final Countdown 59Y provides. 59Y is a Homozygous Black, Homozygous Polled son of the highly popular SAV Final Answer and he goes back to Rupple Gunnison and our donor dam TAU Ms. Dr. Pepper 716G on the maternal side. 59Y is any cattlemen’s dream. He is super soft and soggy in his rib shape, while being long and level about his spine, but where we truly love Final Countdown is at the ground. He steps down on loads of bone and foot size and he is fault free in his structure. He has a perfect set and flex to his hock and pastern and he easily fills his track when put on the move. If you are looking for Growth and Performance in a Structurally Correct Package 59Y is the bull for you. Mark him in your books and don’t miss him on the day of the futurity. Don’t forget that he comes from the same herd as TAU Kruggerand 130P, TAU Tuned In 55T and TAU Mr. Grid Topper 43T. We all have those calves that catch your eye at the beginning of summer and stay good right through weaning. Liberty is that calf for us this year. He has been our best calf, start to finish. His sire produced the National Champion female EGL Evelynn and his bull progeny topped our production sale in 2011. 5203 progeny are accepted by commercial cattlemen because they are moderate, wide based, good structured and docile. His dam is our top black donor EGL Tyra, who also produced Northern Pacific the exciting new herd sire at Green Hills Gelbvieh and C-Cross Gelbvieh in NC. We think that Liberty has the potential to become a great breeding bull. His is gaining well on test with a low feed intake, which should prove him efficient. His grand sire TC Freedom 104 is the #1 Angus bull in our 35,000 head database for RFI. Liberty’s moderate design, muscle expression and docility will allow him to produce seedstock with both high performance and longevity. He should be homozygous black and homozygous polled.

JRI Journey 406Y35 was the #1 weaning weight ratioing Balancer bull calf on the ranch and that #1 ranking is mighty impressive when you consider 406Y35 nursed a first calf heifer. JRI Journey 406Y35 posted a super 850 pound 205 day weight (no creep) and he weaned off his first calf dam at 940 pounds. This Judd Ranch 406 cow family has been one fertility/performance plus cow family for years. JRI Journey 406Y35’s grandam JRI Ms 406F14 was honored three times as a Dam of Distinction and at 13 years of age she maintained a super 693 pound 205 day weight average on her 12 babies and her 12th baby pegged the 205 day weight scales at 768 pounds. JRI Journey 406Y35 offers you calving ease, performance, fertility and maternal strength all in one “complete package.”

Plainsman 1103Y is a great representative of our breeding program here in Southeastern Colorado. He offers the complete package - his looks and his numbers. He is a very moderate framed, extended calf that carries an expanded three-dimensional look in both his muscle and capacity. He exhibits the correct angle to his shoulder and flex in his joints, which will allow him durability and longevity in any kind of environment. If you just review the numbers on this bull, you will like him, as well. Seven of the EPD traits measured are in the top 25% of the Balancer breed. These seven not only include his performance EPDs, but also the calving traits, which rank in the top 10%. If you are a follower of the Carcass and Feedlot merit numbers of the bulls out there today, Plainsman’s numbers of $31.98 and $27.04 are pretty impressive, too. Looking at the breeding of this bull, one should be impressed. His sire (Goldman) has turned into a rock-solid calving ease bull, whose calves offer soundness, thickness, depth and eye appeal. Goldman, himself, scanned a 5.01 IMF as a yearling and was the top-selling bull in 2009 Seedstock Plus sales. On the bottom side, this homozygous polled calf comes out of a herd-building kind of In-Focus heifer, who goes back to our great Nutmeg cow. We take great pride in presenting Plainsman 1103Y as our offering in the 2012 Balancer Bull Futurity.

Houdini is a moderately-framed, soft-middled beef machine out of the 2008 National Champion Balancer Female, AHL Reba 56S. Given his mama’s showring success, it comes as no surprise that he won his division at the American Royal this fall in his only time out of the barn. Reba is starting to earn a reputation for producing powerful sons. Last spring we sold her first three sons at the Post Rock Cowman’s Kind bull sale where one topped the sale and the three averaged over $7,000. Houdini is a homozygous black, homozygous polled bull who will produce exceptionally big-ribbed, easy-fleshing progeny with the look.
