What an incredible genetic opportunity. This sale has traditionally produced more breed-leading females than any other sale in the nation, and this year is no exception. It has been a pleasure to work with the breeders in Kansas and Nebraska to offer you a fantastic set of females. If you are looking to build a premier cowherd of deep-ribbed, easy fleshing females, this is the one sale you need to attend and no sale features the proven dollar return on your investment like this sale. Roger Gatz of Cattlemen’s Connection will once again be consulting for us on this year’s sale. If you have questions about any of the animals in this catalog or would like assistance in selecting cattle for your program, please give either Roger or me a call. We will be happy to assist you in making purchases within your price range. Roger and I will be going through the cattle on Friday, so don’t hesitate to give us a call anytime. Roger Gatz at (785)547-6262 or Brian Beying at (913)547-1635. Sincerely, Brian Beying P.S. Junior members be sure to check out the inside of the back cover for information on the $5,000 Futurity Show Payback.

• Maternal granddam was one of our picks from Jumping Cow Dispersal. Dam was a 1st calf heifer that did a super job on this In Focus cow. Check out the Governor 3N heifer calf at side. Buy the pair and show the fall heifer and put the cow in the front pasture.

• Post Rock Cattle Co., Barnard, KS

• Rose is a cherry-red, smooth polled, 3/4 blood daughter of LNR Select. We have had a renewed interest in adding some of those time-tested Gelbvieh fullblood sires to our modern pedigrees. Her dam, Rose, is a fertile, productive Morgan’s Direction daughter with a super udder.

• My son Quentin showed this homozygous black homozygous polled heifer 6 times and always stood 1st or 2nd including the Junior Nationals where she was second to a division champion. She comes from a long line of low birth, high growth genetics posting an 87 BW ratio, 102 WW ratio as an individual. Her dam has 6 progeny with an 89 BW, 100 WW ratios and her second dam has 10 progeny with 100 BW 106 WW ratios. Her dam has 5 maternal sisters posting an average 104 WW ratios all in large and meaningful contemporary groups in the Post Rock program.

• AI bred to HYEK Black Impact on 4-2-11, then PE from 4-16-11 to 6-26-11 to BDCG 56W1. 56W1 is an ET brother to the high-selling bull at the Cowman’s Kind bull sale last spring... a homozygous polled Krugerrand son out of Reba 56S, the 2008 National Champion Balancer Female.

• Grund Beef Genetics, Sharon Springs, KS • When Brian asked us if he could pick the top heifer out of our 2010 bred heifers we were a little reluctant because we think highly of GRU Ms Mission 038X. 038X is extremely nicely balanced, deep ribbed, and easy fleshing heifer. 038X is sired by the popular Mission Statement from Genex who is a trait leader for growth and carcass traits in the RA breed. The dam of 038X is a very productive 7 year old that does a great job every year. We are even more excited about the mating of Astro (due 2-13-12). Our Astro calves are some of our best in 2011. 038X ranks in the top 25% of the breed for WW, YW while maintaining a great carcass value of $20.02. 038X was a class winner this summer at the Twister Classic and was recently named Reserve Champion Gelbvieh Female at the Kansas Junior Livestock Show.

• Hightower Cattle Co., LaCygne, KS

• Super calving ease in a very attractive heifer with a moderate frame and good growth out of a first calf heifer. Shell make a great show heifer and even better cow.

• This double black, double polled (Homozygous polled test pending) Purebred heifer has been the pick of our herd from the time she was 2 weeks old. Ellie is out of our newly awarded Dam of Merit cow and is one soggy donor prospect with all the eye appeal of a Solution daughter while having the soft maternal look of that we’ve come to expect out of our Black Beauty cow, who is one of our best uddered females. This heifer has a great disposition and is used to little kids. Eleanor is entered in the National Show in Denver. Hightowers are willing to care for her and show her... just work out the arrangements.

• Triple K Gelbvieh, Bonner Springs, KS

• Bar Arrow Cattle & Blackhawk Cattle, Phillipsburg, KS

• This gal has a bright future. Her EPDs put her in the top 25% of the breed for CE, top 35% for BW, top 20% for WW, top 15% for YW, top 3% for milk, top 10% for Marbling and top 1% for Carcass Value. This gal hits all the marks. When the cattle were screened the comment was made that she is the best looking Carolina Fortune daughter they ever saw. Her dam goes back to Bar GT Icon.

• This heifer is only being offered because she is a partnership heifer for Bar Arrow and Blackhawk. Otherwise she would definitely be in the keeper pen, so take advantage of this opportunity. Miss Decade is a clean made heifer with tons of top and a good hip. Note the incredible EPD strength. She will flat-out perform and add carcass merit to her offspring. These Decade calves have been as consistently good on the road this fall as anything that I have seen for a long time. These cattle have a good hip, they’re clean made with tons of top in them.

• Another super Decade performance-plus heifer from Bar Arrow. Red Pearl has been a standout from day one. She flat-out put it on her contemporaries, achieving the 2nd high weaning weight in the herd! Note that she goes back to the great Black Pearl cow family. I’ll say it again, these Decade calves have been as consistently good on the road this fall as anything that I have seen for a long time. These cattle have a good hip, they’re clean made and tons of top in them. The past 3 years more Futurity money has been won by Bar Arrow heifers than any other heifers sold.

• Like all the Tuned In’s 708Y is a deep bodied easy fleshing heifer who has been a standout since birth. Here is a wide based, broody female that comes with plenty of bone. This female should make a tremendous cow but has just enough look to be successful in the show ring like the 2 Tuned In daughters that sold in Salina last year. One was the Res. Champion at the National Jr. Eastern Regional show and the other was a money winner in the Futurity. The cow line has been very productive for us and the Tuned In calves were the top sire group in our 2011 production sale. Don’t miss an opportunity to own a female that can move your herd forward.

She just has a flashy look because she is really neat up through her front end, balances up very nicely on the side profile, and we really like the rib cage in this female. This purebred heifer is very difficult to cut loose of. Her donor dam is one of a kind, and we have retained every one of her heifer calves until now. • Southeast Community College, Beatrice, NE • SCCB Yip 17Y is sired by the college’s selection from Benoit Angus. E&B 891 was selected for his moderate frame and exceptional dimension of muscle and total volume. He transcends this to his calves as you will see on 17Y. She is a full figured 25% Balancer with tons of capacity stacked with an expressive yet feminine muscle pattern. Her dam, 166M was raised at SCC and has held her own in a competitive herd with rigorous management. We had this heifer on display at Husker Harvest Days and she met with much approval. We hope you approve as well. Juniors, take note of the age that places this heifer into a smaller division.

• Southeast Community College, Beatrice, NE • SCCB Yip 28Y is sired by the college’s pick from Cranview Gelbvieh’s sire offering. Her sire W24 is an own son of Buddy Boy out of the famed Annie 828H dam made famous at TJB Gelbvieh. Annie never misses and the genetics did pass on to this great prospect out of a young Echo dam. Her grand-dam, PMG 10J is the dam of SCCB Nikki of whom swept the show season for Dromgooles in 2004 and 2005. Look for 28Y to combine the best of the Gelbvieh bloodlines into a package with performance, maternal style and efficiency. We believe this to be one of the top prospects from our spring calving herd. Juniors take note, 28Y will be in a smaller division due to her May 17 birthdate.

This year the total jackpot is estimated at $5,000 to be paid in the manner listed below. New this year... all Jackpot Money will be paid out at the Spring Show, held in June. 1. To be eligible: a. All Open and bred heifers selling in the 2011 Pick of the Herds Female Sale are futurity eligible for the 2012 jackpot.
