Setting Up a Blind for Deer Hunting One way to get ready for deer hunting success is to find a spot, build a blind and disguise your location.

First, locate a spot for hunting that is open where there are little or no trees. Make sure there are open lanes where you can see at least 200 feet in the distance. Also, look for deer tracks to assure that it is an active location for deer. There could be new or old deer tracks on the trails. The best way to identify fresh deer tracks is by making sure the tracks are well defined. Second, build a blind at your chosen location. Start by clearing brush and debris from your site. Items necessary for building are: wood, screws, screw gun, roofing, Plexiglas, saw and finishing materials of your choice. With a design best suited for your needs, build your blind according to the plan. Last, disguise the blind. Paint the blind with a

Trophy Bucks in Any Weather: How to Use Weather to Predict Deer Behavior Trophy Bucks in Any Weather, by Dan Carlson, tells how can bucks or does can be tracked in any season or weather. He tells how wind, temperature, or other elements can affect hunting or tracking. He gives detailed information as to why deer behave differently in other weather. Carlson shows how anybody can predict the weather by using signs in the surroundings and how to predict deer behavior in certain weather. Since hunting is usually for getting food, he also explains how to survive and protect yourself and your gear. Dan Carlson is a former meteorologist and a big game hunter. He has hunted all over the country but mainly in the Black Hills of South Dakota. For years, he has used the methods of his former profession to analyze and predict weather as a means to track and hunt deer. I think the topic on predicting weather was one of the well explained sections in the book. It is helpful because it explains in detail how and why the influence of weather changes deer behavior. Having this knowledge I can understand why deer act differently and I can use this information to predict where to find the deer. He also gives good examples of what gear suits different kinds of weather best. Predicting the weather is important to know when your deer hunting so you can choose what gear is best to have. The book covers what equipment is suited for different seasons and weather. It covers how to ensure hunter’s safety especially when encountering foul weather. It also lets you know when and when not to go hunting. I personally think that every big game hunter should read this book since it is a great demonstration of what can happen concerning the weather. It tells you

poem â€“ a lucky hunt Once I walking I saw a big buck It was stuck in the swamp So I ran to get my gun When I got back It was gone

But in that instant I saw it run So I pointed my gun And shot I hoped I got it Then I saw it drop In the creek I found it I hauled it home To eat the meals I can make with it
