Welcome to DECA’s 79th International Career Development Conference, the global event that celebrates the culmination of your achievements and fuels your journey as an emerging leader and entrepreneur in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.
DECA members, advisors and business partners accepted our challenge to #BeTheOne this year by setting ambitious goals for membership, engagement and community involvement. Our innovative educational programs continue to attract the attention of students and teachers around the globe as we celebrate a record year of more than 293,000 members in 4,200 chapters. Not only has membership soared, but engagement in DECA’s Comprehensive Learning Program also reached record levels. We thank our chartered association advisors, chapter advisors and student leaders who have championed stellar participation in DECA’s Chapter Campaigns, Corporate Challenges, Educational Conferences, Emerging Leader Series, School-based Enterprises, and Competitive Events Program — with more than 175,000 members participating.
The support of our business partners continues to expand, reinforcing DECA’s important role in workforce development. For the first time in DECA’s history, all 60 competitive events are sponsored at ICDC thanks to the support of our business partners.
Finally, be extremely proud that you are one of the 25,000 attendees participating in the largest-ever DECA International Career Development Conference. As an ICDC qualifier, you have worked all year to join the best of the best on DECA’s biggest stage. Engage with fellow DECA members and partners during #DECAICDC in Orlando, a living classroom for marketing, hospitality, finance, management and entrepreneurship.
Our achievement as the premier Career and Technical Student Organization would not be possible without our members, advisors and business partners. Congratulations on your accomplishments this year. We can’t wait for you to continue to Be The One to make an impact at #DECAICDC!

Rob Lawless has a genuine passion for getting to know new people. Graduating with highest honors from Penn State University, he earned a finance degree with minors in accounting and entrepreneurship. Rob then joined Deloitte Consulting as a business analyst in strategy and operations, fulfilling his dream job. However, after a year and a half, he made a typical Millennial move, accepting a significant pay cut to join a $24 million venture-funded startup.
Yet in his post grad life, he missed the authentic connection he’d experienced in college. As a result, he set off on a journey, aiming to meet 10,000 people for an hour each for no specific reason. The responses were overwhelmingly positive, and he began meeting people from incredibly diverse backgrounds. To date, he’s connected with over 6,000 individuals from more than 90 countries worldwide. His travels have taken him across the nation six times, and he has been featured in prominent media outlets, such as “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” and the “TODAY Show with Hoda and Jenna.” He even appeared on the Kelly Clarkson Show, alongside Jane Lynch and Jo Koy, in front of an entire audience of friends from the project!
Rob remains deeply passionate about the value and adventure of connection, is excited to meet the next 4,000 of his friends and is eager to continue sharing what he’s learned from his journey — that every human interaction holds the potential to change your life!

Your health and safety are important! We are excited to welcome more than 25,000 attendees to DECA’s International Career Development Conference and want to promote the health and safety of everyone involved. As part of our plans to host a safe event, please follow our event requirements and recommendations below.
Please understand that everyone has a differing comfort level, and some attendees may wish to socially distance when possible. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Always cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.
Monitor your health daily. Watch for fever, cough, shortness of breath or other symptoms of illness. If you develop symptoms of illness, do not come to the event. If you develop symptoms while attending ICDC, stay in your hotel room and contact your advisor immediately.
Follow these guidelines when at your assigned conference hotel:
• Be alert when checking in. Protect your cash and valuables by keeping them with you.
• Never say your room number loudly enough for others to overhear or give it to anyone you do not know.
• Be sure to lock your door when you are in your room and when you leave.
• Call the front desk to verify any unexpected deliveries or room service.
• Do not leave your door open while you are in the room.
• Do not leave your room after curfew.
• Never leave money or valuables unsecured in your room; use your hotel room’s safe.
• Be where you are supposed to be. Delegates are required to attend all sessions and activities assigned, including workshops, competitive events, committee meetings, general sessions, etc., for which they are registered.
• Always tell your advisor where you are going.
• Don’t go out alone; travel with at least one other person. There is safety in numbers.
• If you see any suspicious person or activity, notify your chapter advisor, conference staff or hotel management.
• Don’t wander through shortcuts. Ask the hotel for the most direct route to restaurants and shopping.
• Always use sidewalks and crosswalks, and look both ways before crossing.
• If you are not at the conference venue(s) or at an official conference activity, do not wear your conference name badge.
DECA Inc. is committed to creating and maintaining a healthy and respectful environment for all of our emerging leaders and entrepreneurs. Honorary Life Membership is the highest award DECA can bestow on an individual. DECA is pleased to present a new recipient of this distinctive and deserving fellowship.
Donna McFadden has provided exemplary service to DECA for more than 30 years as the Massachusetts DECA Chartered Association Advisor. Her dedication to her chartered association and DECA Inc. has led to exceptional contributions and a profound impact on students and educators alike. Her leadership, guidance, support and creative brilliance have reached DECA members and advisors at all levels.
Most notably, Massachusetts DECA has experienced remarkable membership growth as a result of her visionary leadership. In 2011, Donna participated in a DECA Membership Development Project where she began to strategically consider how Massachusetts DECA could provide the DECA experience to more students in her state. Since that year, Massachusetts DECA has been recognized with the Diamond Award fourteen times and as a top ten association for four years. Since 1994, Massachusetts DECA has quintupled student membership from 2,500 to 12,000 and tripled the number of chapters from 40 to 135. In addition, the Massachusetts DECA association conference has grown to provide exceptional educational opportunities from 750 student members to 3,600 student members. While the numbers are impressive, the most important accomplishment is that even more emerging leaders and entrepreneurs benefit as members of Massachusetts DECA.
In addition to serving Massachusetts DECA, Donna has dedicated time at the regional and international levels. Her leadership includes service on the North Atlantic Region Board of Directors and on the DECA Inc. Board of Directors, serving as Board President from 2024-2025. Donna has also volunteered on many DECA taskforces and committees, providing feedback to shape the organization’s programmatic and strategic direction. She also shares her strategies and best practices with fellow chartered association advisors at DECA’s Mastermind Conference. Donna received the DECA Inc. Outstanding Service Award in 2017.
Recognized as an exemplary leader by her colleagues, Donna values open dialogue, carefully considering different viewpoints, and works to ensure that every voice is heard. Her contributions, quest for continuous improvement and unwavering support to DECA members and advisors have made a lasting impact.
John W. Edgerton
L. T.
These volunteers have generously shared their time and expertise to ensure a successful conference for the members of DECA. We recognize that it is impossible to list everyone who assisted, but their efforts, visible throughout the entire conference, are appreciated. Because of our volunteers, DECA members are able to demonstrate their marketing, entrepreneurship, finance, hospitality and management knowledge in a quality, competitive learning environment.

DECA extends its appreciation to the 1,000 Orlando-area business professionals who are volunteering as competitive events judges, mentors and presenters at the conference. The conference would not be possible without you.
The assistance of volunteers is critical to the successful operation of the competitive events program, the election of officers, the emerging leader series and other functions. Briefings for event directors and assistants are scheduled throughout the conference and are necessary for the success of the programs. Volunteers should consult their chartered association advisor for their assignment and report to the appropriate briefing session. DECA extends a special thank you to our volunteers for their continued support of and dedication to DECA and its emerging leaders and entrepreneurs.
