thank you!

The Delaware County District Library saw great growth in 2014 with our branches continuing to act as the ‘community living room’ for many of our patrons who use our meeting rooms; public computers, laptops and wifi; research resources; or who just want a place to relax and read. Our staff help welcome patrons by being actively engaged in the community, reaching out to schools and businesses alike to communicate the excellent programs and services we offer. Projects and updates throughout 2014 benefitted individuals from all walks of life. Children now learn on new technology from birth, so we updated the youth services areas to include tablets. Teens gained real-world experience and responsibility through volunteering and participating in what has become an annual job fair specifically for high school students. Adults met more than 40 of their published neighbors in the Library’s first ever Local Author Fair in December. Weekly ESOL classes helped nearly 70 students from 20 countries learn how to speak English. We also embraced the gaming culture by introducing a circulating videogame collection. Finally, in July community members and families helped a magical Mosaic Dragon find a home at the Orange Branch Library thanks to the vision of artists Lynda Elias and Virginia Corwin, and in September an open house was held to celebrate the completion of the Imagination Garden. All of these projects could not have been completed without such a supportive community. We cannot thank you enough. It’s been a wonderful year, and you can be certain 2015 has much more in store! Mary Jane Santos, Library Director
