FROZEN PARTIES AT THE LIBRARY
WRITER’S GROUPS
We don’t just support a love of reading at the Library; we love to encourage writers, too! The Orange and Ostrander Branch libraries holds groups for writers of all ages from tweens through adults. Tween and teens groups focus on a theme or fun subject at their meetings. Adults share their work and help each other hone their craft. Writer’s groups meet once a month. Dates and times can be found in this newsletter and online at www.delawarelibrary.org/event.
‘FROZEN’ PARTIES
In celebration of the winter months, each branch is hosting Frozen-themed parties and activities. These programs are great for families with kids of all ages who love this Disney film. The parties include crafts, songs, stories and more. Dressing like a Frozen character is highly encouraged! So if you just can’t “Let It Go,” join us for a Frozen party at your local branch. Check the calendar for dates and times.
LOCAL AUTHOR FAIR COVER MODEL On December 7th, DCDL will be hosting our first This Check It Out newsletter features the smiling face Local Author Fair. More than 40 published and self-published authors will be attending to share their work with the community. We will feature author readings, storytimes and book signings with the opportunity to win prizes! There will also be complimentary food and beverages. Bring the whole family to meet writers you may have never known were in your own neighborhood. The Local Author Fair will be held at the Orange Branch Library on Sunday, December 7th from 2 – 5 PM. See a complete list of participants on the back of this newsletter.
of one Youth Services staff member. Becky Woodruff specializes in working with tweens and teens and has been a member of the Youth Services staff for almost two years. Her favorite part of her job is putting together programs for the community and watching teens “geek out” during those activities. She also runs the tween and teen writer’s labs at the Orange Branch Library each month. Becky lives in Clintonville and enjoys attending her local farmers market, especially the scone stand, where she enjoys the white chocolate raspberry scone.

SENATOR JORDAN VISITS DCDL
BABY, IT’S COLD
Weather experts are expecting another cold and snowy winter. Should the weather grow mean and schools close, never fear. We won’t close until the county declares a Level 2 Snow Emergency!
hjsjhjsjh State Senator Kris Jordan paid DCDL a visit while he was back in his home district this fall. During the visit he toured the Orange Branch Library and discussed with Branch Manager Julie Standish the many services DCDL provides, including the work of the Outreach Department. Director Mary Jane Santos and Deputy Director Don Yarman explained that libraries are the most popular public service in Ohio, with more than 8.9 million Ohioans being library card holders - over 75% of the state’s population. DCDL alone served nearly 460,000 patrons last year! We look forward to continuing to work with our state legislators in 2015.
