rom humble origins in 1971 as a family-owned, secondhand store in Vernon, B.C., AMIX Group is now a diversified group of companies for the industrial sector with six divisions. These businesses include marine transportation, projects and transloading, steel sales, metal recycling and ready-mix concrete.

AMIX Group was founded by Ed Jackson as a secondhand store with a small salvage yard operated out of his backyard. He moved his business and family to the coast and became established as a metal recycling company. In 1990, his son Willie joined the business, and together over the next 20 years, they grew AMIX into the largest volume dealer of recycled metal in Western Canada.

In 2011, Willie diversified the company into other industries listed above and continued to grow the business. Looking back over 50 years in business, Willie said, “It’s a great time to reflect on the successes and failures that brought us here. We’re looking to build on that and get set for the next 50.” Throughout its 50-year history, AMIX has had many incredible people
