It’s time to go house hunting for lucky South Delta resident Lisa-Marie Draganiuk. The 33-year-old dental hygienist happily accepted a cheque worth $12.5 million at the B.C. Lottery Corporation’s Vancouver headquarters yesterday morning. Draganiuk was one of four winners in Canada to split a $50 million jackpot in last Friday’s Lotto Max draw. She bought the ticket at the Shoppers Drug Mart in Tsawwassen. Standing with her husband Merle, she described how she wasn’t much of a lottery player but had an extra $20 set aside to play. After not winning the previous week, she said her gut was telling her to play a couple more tickets last week. She spent $10, hoping to get a free play. It was announced the next day that someone from Delta had one of the winning tickets, but it wasn’t until she went shopping on Monday and did a self-ticket check that Draganiuk realized she had won big. At first, the machine seemed to indicate she had won $12,500, which she said would have been fantastic enough, but it wasn’t until she contacted the lottery cooperation that she learned just how much she had won. “I was in a state of euphoria and pure and utter disbelief, probably more of the latter, and I think I still am,” Draganiuk said. After she found out she had a $12.5 million winner, she said she had to sit down in a chair as she shook for a while. At first, all she told her husband on the phone

immediate plans for the money. Draganiuk said after her ticket was verified, the first thing she did was pick up her mother from
work. Handing her mom a big bouquet of flowers, she told her that after 34 years at the same job, she would never have to work
again. Draganiuk noted she still plans on working, saying she loves what she does.
