family involvement

Family Involvement At Delta, we believe that family involvement is the most important aspect of our school and invite all families to participate actively. At Delta High School, we are proud of where we come from, our different heritages and life experiences, and also the many similarities that bind us. Each family is unique and we at Delta High School intend to honor each family’s individuality. Some of us depend on friends or other relatives as our families. We are proud of all of our families, knowing that each family comes to Delta with different strengths, attributes, and concerns. We strongly encourage our families to have a high level of involvement in the life of Delta High School. As a small community school, we depend on active involvement from our families in a variety of ways. We also believe that all students need their families to help guide them through the many complicated academic, vocational, and social decisions they will face as young adults. Periodically, Delta High School faculty will ask families to formally evaluate the family involvement opportunities. This will be a way for us to gather information from families to improve family involvement, become more inclusive, and to meet the needs of each family. We invite each family to contribute a minimum of sixty hours per year assisting with field trips, academic enrichment opportunities, maintenance/repair work, special events, and fundraising. This averages out to about five hours per month per family. We know that every family has something to give and we want to help each family give something that is appropriate, personalized, and valuable. Every volunteer family member will soon see that in giving, they receive. With a wide range of volunteer opportunities available, parents and families can choose how they will contribute to the learning experiences of all Delta High School students. Short Term Volunteer Opportunities  Guest speaking engagement  Donation of time/expertise in the areas of English, Spanish, social studies, science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics  Teacher/principal/staff hiring team member
