Candy and novelty items cannot be thrown from vehicles or from floats.

You may have people walking alongside your vehicle/float handing out candy or novelty items. Motorbikes, ATVs, mini bikes, etc – must follow helmet laws for drivers under 18 years. Keep safety in mind at all times. Horseplay or misconduct will not be tolerated if it affects the safety of parade viewers or participants. No beer or alcohol permitted in vehicles on the parade route. Fremont Street will be closed after 11am. Please plan accordingly. Enter the line-up area using Seven Corners Road to the staging area on City View Road; Westbound traffic will not be permitted on City View Road. Only vehicles registered for the parade will be allowed on City View Road. Vehicles dropping off participants will not be allowed access - please let band members, etc. know of this restriction. Units having horses/animals must supply your own clean up. Units having live animals will be at the end of the parade. The sponsors reserve the right to limit the number of entries. The parade starts at the corner of Fremont & 12th and continues until Fremont & First. All units must continue going East on Fremont Street. Line-up numbers will be issued about one week prior to the parade.

Eyeglass Cleaners I was tired of spending the money to buy lenscleaning cloths for my eyeglasses and hated the thought of all the little foil packages that were getting thrown in the landfill when I used them. One day I realized that they were nothing but a small piece of soft cloth soaked in alcohol. Now, I make my own. If I’m home, I just wet a small piece of clean, white, soft paper towel (the cheaper kinds work better because they usually don’t have metal in them to make them stronger) with a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Then I clean my glasses and polish with another piece of paper towel.

When I’m going out, I put a couple of alcoholdampened pieces of paper toweling into a zipper baggie and have another baggie with pieces of dry

paper toweling. I can clean my glasses over and over again for less than 10% of what the lens cleaners used to cost me. Kamia

Free Summer Cooling A wet cloth can make summer much easier to take. If I get warm watching TV, I put a cool, wet towel on the back of my neck and shoulders. When I’m doing yard work, I have a wet bandanna that I tie loosely around my neck. At night, I even sprinkle my PJs before bed. The wet cloth cools the skin and makes it feel much cooler than it really is. Susie I’m a Grinder Ground beef has gotten so expensive. One way to fight that is to watch for

sales on roasts or London broils. When I see a sale, I pick up a couple of them, take them to the butcher’s counter, and ask to have them ground up into hamburger. I get a better quality meat for less money. My next purchase is going to be a grinder, so I can do that at home. Amy Neighborhood Get Together Each spring, I inspect my house for small jobs that need to be done. This year, we’ll need to have a patch in our driveway repaired and some tree trimming done. Both jobs

are too big for me but too small for many contractors. That’s why I get together with a bunch of neighbors on my block. Between us, four houses need driveway repair. That makes for a reasonable job for a contractor. We split the cost. The same thing is true with tree trimming. Each spring, we all get together to compare notes and see where we can add our jobs and save a few dollars. It’s our way of participating in the new share economy. Alex
