Love My Cast Iron I don’t know why people quit cooking in cast iron. It cooks great and cleans easy. For instance, my cast iron Dutch oven can cook a whole chicken in about half the regular time. My pediatrician told me to include one protein, one veggie, and one starch. Mostly we eat organic, so I just puree some of what we eat. If I have more than I can use in a day or two, I pour some into an old ice cube tray and freeze. They store in a baggie once

Chemical Free Oven Cleaner If you’re like me, you don’t want a lot of chemicals in your home. I hated using the oven cleaners that can be bought, and heating my oven to crazy temperatures doesn’t seem like such a good idea either. I decided to make my own oven cleaner. It’s simple. I just make a paste of a half of a cup of baking soda and water. I spread it on any greasy spots in the oven. After letting it sit for one hour, I then wipe it off. Most spots just wipe clean. Lorie Freezer Management With a large family and a chest freezer, I buy some food in bulk and also do some bulk cooking and food prep. My freezer is often full or close to full. To avoid forgetting what I have in the freezer, I keep an inventory on the door of what’s inside and when it was put there. That way, I can see the oldest items and use them before they get freezer burned. I also use a combination of colored baskets and fabric grocery bags to group like items. Freezer Management With a large family and a chest freezer, I buy some food in bulk and also do some bulk cooking and food prep. My freezer is often full or close to full. To avoid forgetting what I have in the freezer, I keep an inventory on the door of what’s inside and when it was put there. That way, I can see the oldest items and use them before they get freezer burned. I also use a combination of colored baskets and fabric grocery bags to group like items. Anything pork goes into one basket for example. This takes a lot

Healthier Homemade Baby Food I save money by making my own baby food. Also, it’s more important to me to know what my baby is eating. If I make it myself, I know exactly what’s in it. My pediatrician told me to include one protein, one veggie, and one starch. Mostly we eat organic, so I just puree some of what we eat. If I have more than I can use in a day or two, I pour some into an old ice cube tray and freeze. They store in a baggie once frozen. So far, she likes my cooking. And she’s getting used to the same tastes she’ll have once she teethes. Occasionally, I cook something spicy. On those days, I take a portion before I spice it and prepare the baby food. Dogs on Race Day

We love dogs but it has become necessary to make a few changes. Dogs may accompany walkers only, but no dogs are allowed on the 5 mile course. Dogs are no longer allowed in the Middle School building. All dogs must be kept on a non-retractable leash and should be comfortable in large groups and able to be around noise, people and other dogs.
