Cleaning a Dishwasher My d ishwa sher smelled like dead fish. I bought some of the $3.99 cleaner and that helped for a few weeks. I decided to clean the inside of my dishwasher. I opened the door all the way and cleaned where the door meets the inside (very bottom of the inside of the door). I could not believe what I removed. Now my dishwasher smells clean again. AD

It’s plain white vinegar. I put a cup of vinegar in a load of laundry and let the load soak overnight. Reduce Your Water Heating Bill We wanted to cut our electric bill. We read that water heaters can run up the bill, so we decided to do something about it. We added a timer. The timer cost $75 and the electrician charged us $125 to install it. Our family all takes their showers in the morning, so we have the timer turn on about 5am and off at 9am. I set the dishwasher to run at 8:30 if it’s full. It’ll take a couple of months to save the $200 we spent, but I’m sure we’ll save in the long run. Ricky

First Time Holiday Hostess I’m hosting my first family dinner this Thanksgiving. We didn’t get china as a wedding present, and we can’t afford to buy any now. Therefore, I came up with an alternate plan. I spent a Saturday visiting all the thrift stores in town. I bought all the loose china pieces they had. Most sold for a dollar or two since they weren’t part of a set. None of our pieces will match this Thanksgiving, but I think that the variety will make for a very nice table setting. Jeena
