Brown Sugar Bricks Most kitchens have a brick of brown sugar. Once exposed to air, it’s almost impossible to keep any type of package of brown sugar from turning into a brick. I found a solution. I keep my brown sugar in the freezer. It doesn’t freeze, but it doesn’t get hard either. Marni Phone Lifesaver Everyone knows to program the ICE on your phone, but I go a step further. I add my prescriptions and allergies. I know that if I’m in an accident the ER doctors will check the ICE information. Knowing what meds I take could help them save my life. It only took a second to do, and I think it’s great life insurance. Donna Why I Check My Credit Report I was recently turned down for a new credit card. At first, I was upset because I’m never late on bills. Then I decided to check my credit score. It said that I had declared bankruptcy. It took a little doing, but I got them to correct the report. I’m planning on checking my credit report every three months. I don’t want small errors to cause me higher interest rates. Lydia Easy Veggies I’m a big believer in fresh veggies, but like most families, sometimes it’s hard to find time to cook a fancy dinner. Therefore, when I get back from the grocery store, I prepare the veggies I bought. I wash and cut them up for whatever recipes I’ll be making during the week. They get stored in baggies in the refrigerator until I’m ready to cook that meal. I believe that it cuts down my dinner prep time by half. And after a long day at work, that’s a real treat. Tawnya

Removing Urine Odors My husband found a way to get rid of urine odors in carpet. First, he sprinkled baking soda on the affected area and left it to absorb overnight. The next day, he vacuumed up the first batch of soda and then poured another dry batch on the carpet. Using a wet cloth, he rubbed the creamy wet mixture into the area. Then he rinsed the mixture with clean water. He vacuumed well when it was dry. My own nose could no longer detect the smell, but more importantly, my cats did

not. Before doing this, they were always visiting the smell, regardless of what we had used to attempt to clean it. They rolled in it, which concerned me. I thought that they might eventually add

Duties: maintaining various critical manufacturing and plant operational equipment including boilers, separator, pasteurizer, etc. Responsibilities also include facilities maintenance and extensive preventative maintenance. The ideal candidate should have experience with dairy or food manufacturing, sanitary welding, boilers, and strong electrical experience to include VFD and PLC trouble-shooting abilities. Scheduled hours for 2nd shift will be 4:00 pm – 2:30 am. Scheduled hours for 3rd shift 6:00 pm to 6:00 am on a rotating schedule of 5 on, 2 off, 2 on and 5 off. Hourly wage starting at $24.05.

Are you mechanically inclined? Duties: monitoring packaging machines, changing packaging film, and providing maintenance to the packaging machines as necessary to maintain efficient operations within the packaging department. The ideal candidate has the ability to read electrical schematics, but this is not required. Scheduled hours are approximately 2:00 pm to 1:00 am. Scheduled shifts are usually Monday - Friday with some weekend/nonproduction hours expected at various times during the year. Hourly wage starting at $20.55 - $22.55 (based on skills and experience).

Duties: cleaning the facility, including floors and equipment, which includes CIP (Clean in place) equipment while maintaining high food safety standards. Also, under the supervision of a licensed Cheesemaker, perform manual labor involved in the cheese-making process. This position requires the ability to constantly walk and stand; frequently lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift up to 80 pounds; and constantly bend, twist, squat, stoop, kneel, crawl, reach, and push. Scheduled shift normally starts no earlier than 4:00 or 5:00 pm and ends around 3:00 am. Scheduled shift is usually Monday – Friday, with some weekend hours expected at various times throughout the year. Hourly wage starting at $20.30.

Duties: packaging fresh, ready-to-eat, string cheese into individual and bulk-sized packages, and then boxing the finished, packaged product ensuring that correct labeling and identification information is used throughout the entire packaging process. This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment; frequently lift up to 25 pounds; constantly walk, stand, bend, twist, reach forward, and use hands for simple grasping and fine manipulation. No minimum education required. Scheduled shift will usually start at 2:00 pm and end after all the cheese is packaged (usually about 10 hours). Scheduled shifts are usually Monday – Friday and Saturdays as needed. Hourly wage starting at $19.40. Ability to earn up to an additional $1.00 per hour after eight months.

Duties: Monitor packaging equipment and set-up and change packaging film, code daters, case labelers, and metal detectors. Provide required preventative maintenance and maintenance and electrical troubleshooting to the packaging equipment as necessary to maintain efficient operations within the packaging department. A general electrician journeyman’s card or equivalent field experience is required. Previous maintenance and/or food industry experience is preferred. The typical schedule is 8:00 am – 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, including scheduled, production Saturdays and additional time as plant needs. Hourly wage starting at $24.55.
