What’s on tap around Wisconsin?
Appleton Beer Factory immerses patrons in the culture of beer From the self-performed renovation to the custom-fabricated brew train, Appleton Beer Factory was built to immerse patrons in beer culture & display the brewing process. We’re proud of our beer & want you to witness its journey from tun to tongue. ABF has an obvious and delicious priority – beer. Our goal is to put top-notch brew in your glass while putting you in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Appleton Beer Factory beers are crafted to deliver what is so often missing from many beers on the market today – balance. This balance was struck from passionate experimentation by knowledgeable brewers who have focused on respecting the ingredients they use and the people they serve. ABF keeps 7 house beers on tap yearround & add in a couple of seasonal and specialty beers throughout the year
Angry Minnow The Angry Minnow Brew Pub Restaurant in Hayward, offers casual dining, an eclectic menu and craft beers brewed on premise in our microbrewery, a renovated, Hayward, Wisconsin landmark. From the hoppy River Pig Pale Ale to the golden Honey Wheat to the hearty Oaky’s Oatmeal Stout, the Angry Minnow Brewery takes pride in brewing flavorful beer in small batches. Central Waters Brewing keeps on keeping it green Central Waters Brewing is committed to being one of the most environmentally sustainable breweries in the nation. When we source our raw goods, our decisions take into account the environmental footprint. Our bottles are sourced from the greenest manufacturer in the country, despite being more costly. Packaging is post-consumer recycled cardboard. Barley is purchased from Briess Malting, a mere hour and half away, while Central waters is one of the founding breweries of the Midwest Hops and barley cooperative, working to have local farmers produce hops and barley. Central Waters is also focused on energy and resource conservation. The brewery has two large solar arrays, one a 1,000 square foot array using solar power for hot water to heat the facility and reheated water directed to the brewhouse. A 20 KW photo-voltaic array produces roughly 20 percent of the energy to run the brewery. Central Waters was the first brewery granted entrance into Wisconsin’s Green Tier program. Learn more about our “green side” at Centralwaters.com. IPA and porter headline beer list at Corner Pub The Isthmus newspaper shares this about the Corner Pub…. “The food is quite good, but beer is the real star at the Corner Pub. Peterson personally brews a variety of beers from his own recipes, including American Pale Ale, Bock, Weiss, Stout, “Old Gold Lager,” and an interesting Smoked Porter. The two most requested brews are the India Pale Ale and the Porter, but all of the varieties have proved popular. Fratello’s means brothers Oshkosh has deep roots in brewing fine beers dating back to 1846. In 1995, the Supple Restaurant Group, operated by the Supple brothers, joined that tradition by opening up Fox River Brewing
Company® alongside Fratellos (meaning brothers) Waterfront Restaurant. In 1997, the brothers opened a second brewery location in the Fox River Mall. Fox River Brewing Company most recently launched the Bago Brew Collection™, a fresh new batch of brews to be sold on tap at local bars and restaurants. The rest of our handcrafted beers are proudly servedat Fox River Brewing Company® Restaurant atFox River Mall and Fratellos Waterfront Oshkosh& Appleton. Tours are back at Gray’s Tours are back!! and the Tasting Room is open at Gray’s Brewing. Tasting room hours are Friday 5-7, Saturday 12:30-4 and combined with Sunday tours at 1:30. Hinterland weighs heavily in new Titletown District at Lambeau The game-changing Titletown District is a go in Green Bay, and Hinterland Brewery will be one of the main anchors of the project. Slated for construction immediately west of Lambeau Field, work is expected to begin before the end of March. Titletown District is 34-plus acres, all in the village, bordered by Lombardi Avenue, South Ridge Road, Marlee Lane and Brookwood Drive. Announced anchors include Lodge Kohler, a four-star hotel and spa; Hinterland Brewery and a Bellin Health sports medicine clinic. Initial investment in the project, including land acquisition and infrastructure improvements by the Packers, is estimated at $120 million to $130 million. Hinterland Brewery plans a 20,000to 25,000-square-foot brewery, tap room, restaurant and outdoor seating. It will move all its operations to the Titletown District, with Copper Rock Coffee of Appleton slated to buy Hinterland’s building downtown on Dousman Street. The brewery produced about 5,500 barrels of beer last year, but Hinterland will increase capacity to 20,000 at the new location. It will offer brewery tours and have two dining rooms, one with the tap room and a more intimate one on the second floor, and start lunch service. It will offer craft beer and mer-
chandise sales, as well. Lakefront Brewery keeps the awards rolling in the door Lakefront Brewery is a leader in brewing the best beers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Started in 1987, Lakefront Brewery has been brewing for more than 28 years. - See more at: http://www. lakefrontbrewery.com/about#sthash. PEa3MOz6.dpuf Lakefront Brewery continues to pride itself the numerous awards earned for its beers. This past year, Lakefront captured two awards from the Los Angeles International Beer Competition—a silver medal for its White and a gold for Riverwest Stein. At the National Organic Craft Beer Festival, Lakefront’s White earned first place for Best of Show. Extended Play received an honorable mention for session beers at the United States Beer Tasting Championship. Lake Louie brings big beers from a small pond Lake Louie Brewing is located on the shores of beautiful Lake Louie (actually a ¼ acre pond) just outside of the village of Arena in SW Wisconsin. We’ve been producing premium-quality, handcrafted brews, sold in bottles and kegs throughout the entire state of Wisconsin, since January 2000. Give a glass or bottle of Lake Louie a try. I promise you won’t be disappointed. We are not open to the public (No tasting room, stube, gift shop, toilet, etc.) Except one Saturday a month for tours (see Tours page on our website) Milwaukee Brewing Company installs micro-canning system Milwaukee Brewing installed the first “micro-canning” system in Wisconsin because the brewing company believes that this is a much better package in many ways than the single-use brown glass bottle: n Most recycled package in the world n Far Lighter reducing energy used to ship n Far less energy used to produce than a bottle n Very low oxygen and zero light in-
trusion means better beer n Cans are safer – chipping shattering etc n Our fan base camps, bikes, boats, etc. Cans are much better for outdoor activities. Minocqua Brewing Company takes pride in live music scene Minocqua Brewing Company is home to some of the best LIVE original music in Northern Wisconsin. We open our doors to acts from as far away as Duluth, Minneapolis, Chicago and beyond. Minocqua Brewing Company’s live music lounge is capable of seating up to 75 people, with 120 capacity with standing room only. With an elevated stage and in-house sound system, the room itself is complemented by a rich wooden surrounding that pieces together some of the most elaborate and intimate sounds imaginable. O’so Brewing Company committed to local connections O’so Brewing in Plover is run by Marc and Katina Buttera. Orginally from Kenosha, the husband-wife brewing team have made a remarkable impression on craft beer lovers nationwide. O’so Night Train in particular has been a beer judges favorite for years and continues to impress even the most reluctant dark beer drinker. With an ethic committed to local economies, Marc and Katina strive to work with local companies and use local ingredients when possible. Perhaps most impressive is a tap room at their brewery with over 40 local Wisconsin craft beers (not just their own). This is an excerpt from their website: Plymouth Brewing Company offers free popcorn with brews Plymouth Brewing Company is a small nano-brewery in downtown Plymouth, Wisconsin, brewing incredibly tiny (and quite likely non-profitable) batches of ales in our Taproom. We feature our beers as well as a great selection of other commercial craft beers, both on tap and bottles/cans. We now sell Growlers, Howlers (1/2 growler), shirts, hats, Turn to page 5

The opening coincided with the Release Party for the tapping of the limited edition Roll Out The Barrel Belgian Style Golden Strong Ale aged in Bourbon Barrels. “We are so excited to be able to open our taproom to the public. Being able to connect directly and share our beer with our fans and friends is going to be such a treat,” said 3 Sheeps Brewing Co. Additionally, we brew gourmet sodas with natural cane sugar instead of artificial sweeteners. We are creating meals that are good for you and good tasting. Titletown Brewery features old railroad theme from building Titletown brewing is hosted in an old Chicago and Northwestern Railroad station along the Fox River in downtown Green Bay. The building was vacated in August 1994 and sat idle for almost two years. That all changed in July 1996 when a group of investors began a complete renovation of the depot. Titletown Brewing Company opened in December 1996. The Dousman Street Depot was alive again with the sounds of people. Titletown serves the area as an upscale eatings establishment and microbrewery, while preserving the 100 year history of this Green Bay landmark. In December 1999, the depot was officially named to the National Register of Historic Places.
The 3 Sheeps Brewing Co. Taproom’s 16 tap lines will feature signature and seasonal favorites alongside a varying line-up of experimental brews. The brewery has also installed one caskconditioned Firkin tap line to showcase traditional English Style beers along with experimental one-off flavors. Craft beer enthusiasts will enjoy the rotation of limited release, experimental, small batch and prototype beers. Beer flights will be available in logoed taster glasses served in brewer-made flight boards designed from barrel staves. Customers have the option to purchase beer for carry out in growlers and bottles. The overall taproom design mimics the style of many west-coast taprooms with its open-concept layout, expansive floor plan and industrial feel from floor to ceiling. A notable design aspect of the warehouse-style taproom is the incorporation of historic bleachers from Sheboygan’s landmark – The Armory. The expansive wood planks, still marked with seat numbers, were used to make the picnic table-style communal tables, railings and partitions. The spacious taproom doubly acts as a warehouse for the brewery’s expanding barrel aging program and sour beer production – a new focus for the brewery. Sprecher Brewery leader starts Chameleon Brewing
Chameleon Brewing, dedicated to creating innovative craft beers true to the American spirit, was started by Randy Sprecher, founder of Sprecher Brewery. Crafted to please and tease a wide variety of palates, Chameleon beers are light in body, yet full of complex flavors and aromas. Stone Arch Brewery offers tap room experience Residing on the main level, we also have our brand new tap room. It boasts it’s own private bar, a small stage, unique beer selections, and a stone wall accented with warm hardwoods. This space is perfect for groups up to 50 people. Available Sunday through Thursdays from 11:00am until midnight and Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00am until 4:00pm. Stone Cellar is helping to lead the charge in the community to be more sustainable, support local businesses and local citizens, strive towards the offering of only organic fruits and vegetables, and buying from companies with certified humane practices. We are passionate about making our food, our beer, our community, and the lives of those that eat and drink here better. We are coming up with newer healthier entrees, not necessarily calorie-wise, although we have those too, but healthier in terms of food free from hormones, steroids and other unknowns.

What’s On Tap • OFFICIAL PROGRAM • 25th Annual Wisconsin Microbrewers Beer Festival • Chilton, WI • May 22, 2016
2,300 coasters 825 bottle and can openers 25 original Wisconsin Brewery lithographs 250 server trays 40 exterior corner signs 450 large and miniature bottles 100 neon signs Chalk figures, pictures, signs and wooden crates. Wisonsin Brewing Company hails from Hometown USA Wisconsin Brewing Company is located in “Hometown USA” — Verona, Wisconsin. It’s a fun place to visit, a great place to live, and a darn near perfect spot to brew beer. Next time you’re passing through, stop in for a tour. We’d love to share a laugh and a smile (not to mention, a sample or two). We’re five minutes south of the greater madison area, right off hwy 18-151. Finding us is easy. Leaving is the hard part. Our taproom welcomes you with fresh beers and a great place meet friends. There’s no food service, but you’re welcome to BYO food or ask for our list of local restaurants! We’re brewers and business people, friends, parents and grandparents, artists, craftsmen and pioneers. People who try to be good and do good, who appreciate great times and great brews, who share the same enthusiasm for our home state, love for our families and passion for our beer. In other words, people a lot like you. We are Wisconsin. And if all this strikes a chord, there’s a good chance you’re Wisconsin, too. It all started with brothers Carl and Mark Nolen and brewmaster Kirby Nelson. Three Wisconsin-born-and-raised regular guys who share a passion for the Badger State — its friendly people, bountiful resources, rich brewing heritage — and the idea that drawing on all
of the above is the key to creating some really awesome beer. WBC sources local ingredients from local growers every chance we get (which is most of the time.) And every piece of the brewery that could be made in Wisconsin was made in Wisconsin. Steel from Waunakee. Steamwork from Milwaukee. Blacktop from Waukesha. Electrical from Mt. Horeb. Even a genuine Huppmann Brewhouse, designed in Germany was constructed in Hudson, Wisconsin. We started brewing in august of 2013, setting off a perpetual motion machine of new brew creation that shows no sign of stopping. Hey, it’s not a job. It’s a life!

Since the beginning of Micro Brew time, publishers have faced great challenges bringing you the annual Wisconsin MicroBrewers Beer Festival program. Each year we face the daunting task of selecting a cover photo from the myriad of great photographs submitted by our staff. Ever since we imposed professional restrictions on their on-site consumption, the problem has grown, since we now have many more quality (i. e. focused) photos to choose from. This year, instead of just saluting one cover image, we decided to show you the runner-up selections—great personalities one and all. Who knows, maybe it will be your turn next year. Just don’t experience any gratuities or appearances on late night television. It’s only the Beerfest program, you know. But, we are still proud to produce it on behalf of the Rowland family and the Wisconsin Micro-Brewers Beer Festival.
CHEERS! ENJOY THE FESTIVAL!!!
