Colorimetry...
...is a way of measuring the concentration of a solution using absorbance of a wavelength of light (or transmission of light). White light enters the apparatus and is focused onto a prism which splits the light into its constituent wavelengths, this then passes through a filter (allowing the wavelength of choice to pass through the sample), and then through the sample, where (some of) it will be absorbed. The emitted light reaches a detector and is converted into a readable display.

Oscilloscopes

A pH meter measures acidity/alkalinity of a solution based on a voltage difference between 2 electrodes, often within the same ‘probe’ in a solution, which depends on the number of free H+ ions.

A High tension power supply is more dangerous than an Extra high tension power supply? HT is usually up to 400 V, with unlimited (usually 80-400 mA) current output. An EHT up to 5000 V, but output current limited to 5 mA (usually more like 2-3 mA).
In terms of accidental electric shock, a current of 10 mA is enough to paralyze muscles and one greater than 75 mA can cause ventricular fibrillation and death? Although voltage can be high, it has less of a direct effect on the body than the current, as current is the volume of electrons flowing and voltage is the amount of push given to the electrons. The body also provides resistance to current which dramatically falls if skin is wet (allowing more current through).

Set all the equipment up underwater. Use a plastic pipette to help suck out air bubbles. Remove stem from plant and quickly immerse underwater (you don’t want to allow air into the stem), then cut the bottom off the end of the stem. Apply Vaseline around the joins in the equipment (underwater), and wrap parafilm around the joins for added leak proofing (underwater).
