Gun law USA - Where to
E
very year in the USA, a firearm is used in nearly 500,000 crimes, resulting in tragic deaths and scar leaving injuries of more than 110,000 people. With figures like this it’s hard to understand why the USA haven’t done something about their national gun violence problem sooner. The divide on this topic is very much present over the pond, with another gun incident in the State of Florida. So why don’t these reoccurring incidents seem to be having a knock on effect on how this country is dealing with its firearms and who possesses such deadly weapons? It seems to all come down to the fact that when the USA was founded, the right to buy and carry a gun was written into the constitution. Therefore, in America it’s not unusual for people to have a gun, as every adult can legally own or carry one, as it is seen as a person’s basic right to be allowed to do this. The only reasons that someone might not be allowed to own or carry a gun would be if they are a convicted criminal, have a mental

health illness or if they are not a US citizen; however, it seems from the horror stories recently reported that some of these aspects were vitally undetected, which caused the deaths of more innocent people. People in the US are used to being allowed the freedom of owning such weapons, as these rules have been in place since 1791. Many are

reluctant to change, whether this is because they see guns as a form of protection, or whether they feel that its legal therefore why shouldn’t they own such a thing. However, rules on gun ownership do vary between different US states. There are specific rules and laws which prevent people from having guns in certain places, such as in or near schools. However, this is another proven example that guns don’t specifically have to be present within a school for a gun incident to happen and cause total chaos within American communities; as there has already been 6 school shooting in America this year causing tragic deaths. Because of this, gun rules are now at the forefront of people’s minds. In some states, such as in the state of Nevada, the rules are less strict than in other states around America, as people don’t have to tell anyone that they own a gun. Due to this an attack in Las Vagas in October 2017 sent shock waves through the vibrant and energetic tourist destination. Gun Laws in the US is a continuous topic as there is a lot of disagreement about whether

or not the current laws are correct, effective and safe. Many believe the rules should be changed and say that shootings like the recent incidents in Florida and Las Vagas could have been prevented if gun ownership rules were stricter. As it is a proven fact that less guns result in less deaths. Now the five teens behind the #NeverAgain movement that was born in the wake of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School have appeared on “60 Minutes” talking about how they’ve been able to accomplish things adults haven’t been able to. They’ve raised more than $3 million to combat gun violence. It is clear that something needs to change regarding gun laws in America, however if proper action was to be taken it wouldn’t be a quick or easy task; even Barack Obama said that not being able to deal with gun control was the greatest frustration of his time in the job. However, with Donald Trump being the current president and the fact he’s voiced his support for gun owners’ rights in April 2017, it doesn’t seem like things will change drastically anytime soon.

Epic power, smooth refinement. Levante The Maserati of SUVs
T
he wind that bears its name blows across the Mediterranean and can change from benign calm to gale force in an instant. The Maserati SUV has a similar nature, although its powerful forces always remain under perfect control. The Levante SUV embodies the enduring, intrepid and endlessly progressive spirit of Maserati – and it’s part of a story that dates back over 100 years. Maserati has a history of naming its cars after the world’s most famous winds. It started in 1963 with the legendary Mistral. Then came the Ghibli, the Bora and the Khamsin. And now the Levante joins the Maserati hall of fame. GranLusso and GranSport trim options With the GranLusso, the styling and trim are more focused on luxury. With the GranSport, it’s more about directly engaging dynamics. Each offers important new advanced driver assistance features, a significant power boost for the Maranello-built V6 petrol engine and an innovative new power steering system.
Fo
Engine The engines in the Levante models offer everything you would expect of a Maserati – from snarling responsiveness to effortless long-distance refinement. They are also remarkably efficient. The turbocharged V6 in the Maserati Levante Diesel models offers a captivating combination of massive power, longdistance refinement and impressive efficiency.

Maserati design language At the front, the aggressively sculpted front grille with its chromed bars is more imposing than ever, given the elevated SUV proportions. At the same time, it retains the timeless grace of Maserati, with the noble Trident of Neptune leading the way forward. At each side, the narrowed, forward-focus of the two-part headlights also catches the eye. These lead the gaze across the muscular, arching front wings to the iconic triple air vents and upper character lines. The Saetta logo in the steeply tapered, coupĂŠ-like rear section is another unmistakable Maserati styling signature.

The Rolling Stones Mick and the boys still proving that age really is just a number.
I
n the intervening 56 years the Stones have performed live in front of more people than any band… ever. They’ve had No.1 singles and albums in every country that has a popular music chart and have helped define popular culture. The Rolling Stones will play their first UK concerts in five years this spring. Starting at the London Stadium in Stratford on 22 May, the dates make up the second leg of the No Filter tour that the fourpiece began in Europe in autumn 2017. Back story The Stones were at the forefront of the British Invasion of bands that became popular in the United States in 1964, and identified with the youthful and rebellious counterculture of the 1960s. Rooted in blues and early rock and roll, the group began a short period of musical experimentation in the mid-1960s that peaked with the psychedelic album Their Satanic
Majesties Request (1967). The band continued to release commercially successful albums, including Some Girls (1978) and Tattoo You (1981), which were their most popular albums worldwide. From 1983 to 1987, tensions between Jagger and Richards almost caused the band to split. However, they managed to patch up their friendship after they separated temporarily to work on solo projects, and experienced a comeback with Steel Wheels (1989), which was followed by a large stadium and arena tour. Since the 1990s, new recorded material from the group has been less wellreceived and less frequent. Despite this, the Rolling Stones have continued to be a huge attraction on the live circuit, with stadium tours in the 1990s and 2000s. The Rolling Stones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2004. Rolling Stone magazine ranked them fourth on the “100 Greatest Artists of All Time”. u

A Virtual World Spielberg gets closer to the future.
T
he latest Hollywood blockbuster from filmmaker Steven Spielberg a science-fiction action-adventure movie called “Ready Player One” could provide a lift to adoption of virtual reality headsets and thus sales of the graphics chips used to power them. With the help of Van Halen’s Jump, Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One launches its video game adventure story at full speed. The year is 2045; the place is Columbus, Ohio. Our hero, Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan), fills in the details while climbing past his grungy homes of his town, “the stacks,” where trailer parks are piled on top of each other skyhigh. Things are so miserable in Wade’s world, everyone escapes to play in an immersive virtual reality game known as the Oasis. Its Steve Jobs-like founder, James Halliday (Mark Rylance) is worshipped like a god until his death some years before. However, before he left the mortal world, the benevolent creator left behind a series of games that would
reward the winner with the Willie Wonkalike prize of the keys to his virtual kingdom. That’s a lot of story to race through in two hours and 20 minutes, but Spielberg paces his movie to fly past the film’s explanations of events as quickly as possible. The conflict is straightforward and simple: our hero and his friends must outplay the corporate bad guys led by Nolan Sorrento (Ben Mendelsohn) and beat him to the three keys that would control the game. The Ernest Cline novel on which its based on is perhaps best known for its many pop culture references. The film follows suit with a soundtrack filled with an upbeat selection of greatest hits from the 80s, with a few interlopers from the 70s. The deepest cut is perhaps Prince’s I Wanna Be Your Lover, but the rest are songs you likely know the lyrics to. It’s tragic that all history of pop culture post1989 seems to have been lost, but anyone who remembers the 80s may feel nostalgic spotting artifacts from their past.

Psychology
Jordan Bernt Peterson is a Canadian clinical psychologist, cultural critic, and professor of psychology at the University of Toronto. His first book Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief was published in 1999, a work which examined several academic fields to describe the structure of systems of beliefs and myths.

A Canadian Psychologist Jordan Peterson brings fresh thinking.
P
eterson, a professor of psychology at the University of Toronto, has a substantial online presence — his videos have had 150 million views. At the University of Toronto, after receiving two written warnings, he has been in danger of losing his job following his announcement that he would refuse to use the preferred gender pronouns of students and faculty who don’t identify with their biological gender, to the fury of radical transgender activists. The use of such pronouns is mandatory under a recently instituted Canadian law, Bill C-16. Peterson rejects the injunction on free speech grounds. ‘I’m not going to cede linguistic territory to post-modernist neo-Marxists,’ he says. He has expressed the view that he might use the preferred gender pronoun of a particular person, if asked by that individual, rather than having the decision foisted on him by the state.
Conclusion What’s most inticing about Peterson is his success in drawing a vast audience to reevaluate their stance in a newly extreme and polarized world, certainly with regard to political and social views. Peterson is all about coming first from the perspective of self and individualism. In doing so he suggests that egoism is far less likely to overide ones own developed philosophy. An interesting concept if you align to the notion that ego is all contained in the parameter of self. A contradiction of you will, however much radical or even artistic thinking can often employ a ‘turning things on their head’ approach. Interesting too that Peterson embraces religious and spiritual ideas to solidify and validate thought process for practical use. A ‘let’s get back to basics’ approuch to thinking that appears to resinate with many people.
