Art is perceived differently by everyone as it’s purely down to one’s interpretation. However the definition of art is the expression or application of human creative skill and use of imagination. Typically expressed in a visual form, such as painting or sculpture, with the purpose of being appreciated primarily for its beauty, visual impact and emotional power. Art is a form of expression, whether you are creating the piece or admiring its content. Art can tell a story, or let the viewer interpret and determine for themselves what the meaning behind it may be. It’s a form of therapy for many as it can be a tool for relaxation as it enables an individual to be expressive, creative and focused, allowing them to disconnect from the chaos of the real world for some time. Art also encourages cultural growth as people from all over the world travel to see famous art work to broaden their knowledge of the specific artist, style of work, or location and time period of the piece. Culture is also illustrated throughout artwork, and reflects

Art has been around for thousands of years and has developed in its style, purpose and meaning. Its positive impact is vast, from the artist to the viewer. Art always leaves a lasting impression, and the most amazing thing is, it’s completely different for everyone!

utter cake is the perfect base for a rich cake. Embellished with flavoures and fruit of your choice. Add vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon and mixed spice to enrich further. Fresheye advises to store the cake in foil to retain moisture and freshness. Add strawberry slices as we did on top giving that all important layer of spring fruitiness. Pineapple is a great alternative too hence the upside down version. A little bit of what you fancy.
Ingredients Apple & Butter Cake: 1) 4 large eggs. 2) 1/2 lb of caster sugar. 3) 1/2 lb of English, Welsh or Irish butter softened. 4) 1/2 lb of plain or self raising flour, sifted. 5) 1 tsp vanilla extract. 6) 1 tsp nutmeg powder. 7) 1 tsp mixed spice. 1) Be sure to brush line your tin with melted butter. 2) Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy. 3) Beat in hole eggs, one at a time adding a tablespoon of flour with each. 4) Gently fold in rest of flour with large metal spoon. 5) Transfer to prepared tin and smooth top with knife. Bake in centre of moderate oven (325 F or gas mark 3 for 1 3/4 to 2 hours. Check cake by inserting knife for clean blade test. Leave in tin for 5 minutes. Finish off with sifted icing sugar over the sliced apples top to enhance to cooked glaze.

he first edition of the Michelin Guide was in 1900, covering France, listing things that would be useful for motorists (less than 3,000 cars at that time were registered in France), such as the location of petrol stations, mechanics and hotels. Initially handed out free, in 1922 the Guide began to be charged for, at 7 Francs a copy (by my calculations, this is equivalent to about £12 in 2012 money, using the retail price index to adjust for inflation). In 1926 the first stars were awarded to restaurants, with the system being extended in 1933 to a system of one, two or three stars, which has remained to this day. The Guide steadily extended coverage beyond France throughout much of Europe. Cinco by Paco Pérez The Michelin-starred fine dining experience of Cinco by Paco Pérez offers Paco Pérez’s avant-garde molecular-leaning Mediterranean cuisine. This is his fifth Michelin star, having already received two for the restaurant ‘Miramar’ in his hometown Llança, and also two for the ‘Enoteca’ in the Hotel Arts Barcelona. Particularly impressive in Cinco are the avant-garde tasting menus- the “Gran Viaje” with 9 courses or the “Pequeno Viaje” with 5 courses. Each of the small treats is an experiment of products, textures, aromas and tastes, resulting in a remarkable, yet unexpected, impression.

Japanese London Endulge your Asian persuasion, choose the capital for your Japanese restaurant.
A
ny world-renowned city should have culinary diversity represented in its choice of restaurants. London is most certainly among those cities sighted as being rich in cultural diversity, this is reflected in the restaurants on offer. As people become better acquainted with what denotes popular dishes of an international variety, Japanese food has attained its rightful recognition for delicious dining and the health benefits that are aligned with its template that has been employed for centuries. Even your layman by now will recognize the terms Bento, Sushi, Noodle, Satay, Soy, Sesame, Ramen, Tempura, Miso, Udon, Katsu, Soba etc. If you don’t, then it’s time to dive into Japanese food. The time to expand awareness of a broader persuasion around food is always the here and now. fresheye highlights 3 London dining spots
to tempt your Japanese persuasion. Think of the health benefits too of a Sushi meal. Two of the most healthy diets in the world are undisputedly Japanese and Mediterranean. Both regions reporting the lowest heart disease rate amongst its populations. Fish, fish oil and omega 3 are common in our understanding of good health and diet. Equal to the enjoyment of Japanese food is the dining experience. When eating within a Japanese inspired interior however traditional or modern, the senses are prompted to experience from a Japanese perspective. Using chopsticks too should authenticate the feel and mood. If you really want to indulge in authenticity then take a few slurps of your favourite soup. The flavours of the noodles and soup are multiplied when slurping. Slurping creates oxygenation which is said to enhance the flavour. Joy to the lovers of good Japanese food where ever the price range be. u

ogan is host of The Joe Rogan Experience, a long form conversation with guests that is one of the most popular podcasts on iTunes. A rambling, profane interview program in which the host is often high, loves to talk about cage fighting. Rogan has long worked as a UFC commentator and never lets his guests go home (episodes can stretch past three hours.) His interviewees are an esoteric lot (Elon Musk - below, founder of Telsa) spanning Rogan’s wide range of interests: stand-up comedy, mixed martial arts, evolutionary psychology, alternative medicine, music, acting, business, and the excesses of leftist identity politics. Listening to the show is sort of like crashing an intense, intimate dinner party in which the only courses are whiskey and weed. Timeline Since 2002, Rogan has provided color commentary for the UFC (Ultimate Fighting

Within two years, the Boston native earned a black belt and soon became the Massachusetts full contact Tae Kwon Do champion four consecutive years. By the age of 19, Rogan won the US Open Tae Kwon Do Championship and as lightweight champion went on to beat both the middle and heavyweight title-holders to obtain the Grand Championship. Film credits include Here Comes The Boom (2012) and Zookeeper (2011). Rogan hosted Joe Rogan Questions Everything (2013) for the SyFy channel. In October, he revealed that he plans to sell up to 75 million shares, worth more than $12 billion at the time, by March 2019 to fund the project. He’s able to do that because of Facebook’s dual-class share structure, which allows him to retain voting control over the company’s big decisions even as he sells a huge portion of his stake. He has already sold nearly 29 million shares, garnering more than $5.3 billion for CZI. What is CZI doing so far? One of CZI’s stated missions is “supporting scientific research to cure, prevent and manage all diseases in our children’s lifetime.” Zuckerberg shared a few more details onstage in a 2016 conference call, where he declared “we have a real shot at preventing, curing or managing” most diseases in the next 100 years, particularly heart disease, cancer, stroke, neurodegenerative and infectious diseases. Chan and Zuckerberg are actively involved Two things become clear about the organization. - First, it views itself as an entirely separate and distinct entity from Facebook, although a few engineers have migrated over from there. - And second, the couple is highly involved. It’s not a token philanthropic effort for them. Zuckerberg himself attends many of the important meetings, including the Biohub board meetings, two deep dives a year on the Human Cell Atlas and reviews for some of the newer initiatives like criminal justice and affordable housing. Priscilla Chan statement Our efforts in science center around our mission to help cure, prevent, or manage all disease by the end of the century, which I know is an ambitious goal -- but if we focus on empowering scientists with tools to unlock their work and the field -- that goal could be within our reach. As a physician, I’ve been overwhelmed at the pace of advances in basic science in just the past decade, and I’ve thought - what if we could accelerate those discoveries to get at the biggest problems in science and medicine?

The Japanese tea ceremony (sadō or chadō, lit. “the way of tea” or chanoyu) is a Japanese tradition steeped in history. It is a ceremonial way of preparing and drinking green tea typically in a traditional tearoom with tatami floor. Beyond just serving and receiving tea, one of the main purposes of the tea ceremony is for the guests to enjoy the hospitality of the host in an atmosphere distinct from the fast pace of everyday life.
Destination Today, the tea ceremony is practiced as a hobby, and there are places where tourists can experience it, as well. Tea ceremonies of varying degrees of formality and authenticity are offered by many organizations across Japan, including at some traditional gardens, culture centers and hotels. Kyoto and Uji are among the best destinations in the country to enjoy Japan’s tea culture.

Best British picnic Take the food experience outdoors.
W
Dessert ideas Victoria sponge cake is the centrepiece of any British summer. Fluffy and light, there’s a reason this delicious dessert is one of Britain’s best-loved cakes. Strawberries and cream also a firm favourite.
Options The list could include crusty bread with cheese, spicy wraps, fluffy cakes, jam and cream filled scones, muffins, homemade pie, tarts and flans, with artisan fruit cordials and a bottle of fizz included for a refreshing and frivolous libation. Another quintessentially British snack, individual pies are a great option because they’re easy to transport and eat with the hands—no fiddly cutting required.
Top picnic tips: 1. Prepare for all eventualities. Pack a brolly or two, with raincoats as well as suncream and insect repellent—you never know what the British weather will throw at you. 2. Make the sandwich fillings the night before, but to avoid soggy sarnies, put them together on the day of the picnic. 3. Pack salad dressing separately in an old jam jar, as to avoid the salad becoming limp before you eat it. 4. It’s always nice to add a flask of soup, tea or coffee; make sure the flask is warmed before adding the liquids, by adding boiling water and screwing the lid for a few minutes. 5. Pre-cut pies, tarts and flans beforehand, but keep them in their baking containers for ease of travel.
ith spring finally at our doorstep, what better excuse is there to enjoying a picnic by the seaside, in the local park or even in your garden. Food blogger Karen Booth, of Lavender and Lovage, gives us the lowdown on her top tips and recipes for the perfect picnic. Just the word ‘picnic’ conjures up visions of peaceful, pastoral countryside, with outdoor games, bottles of pop and fresh sandwiches made with crusty bread, crisp mixed salads and cold cooked chicken served with glossy mayonnaise.
