A new vision horizon...
It’s time to combat the doom and gloom!
Life has been incredibly hard for all the past few years, but finally there seems to be more positivity, optimism and gratitude for life as it is. A sense of normality has returned, and we have grasped it with both hands!
With travel taken off pause, loved ones have been jetting off to far-flung corners of the earth to experience handfuls of rich culture, adventure and entertainment once again. It’s an aspect of our lives which many of us missed, and now it’s our reality to enjoy again! Of course, there are always obstacles to face when it comes to getting back into the swing of things, but it seems we are less prepared to dwell on these somewhat minor aspects now, after all that has played out across the globe in recent years.
The film and theatre industry has risen from its knees and is back to entertaining and playing out stories for us all to unwind to after a long day or heavy working week. A stark contrast to the time when we were all confined to our houses for months at a time.
Live music is another joy which has
returned with abundance! With festivals, shows and stadium tours now back and bigger than ever! It feels good to be enjoying each other’s company again and soaking up the atmosphere of all that is around us.
One hot ticket this summer was for Coldplay and their Music of The Spheres World Tour. I was lucky enough to bag a golden ticket to one of their London shows, and I must say they didn’t disappoint! The band that all ages has grown to know and love

created an experience we could all only dream off a short time ago.
The evening in a nutshell was one of pure joy, wholesomeness and somewhat disbelief - a stadium full of 75,000 people engulfed in celebration; It was a ‘had to be there’ moment.
The whole arena was lit with glowing multicolored wristbands amongst the backdrop of a mid-summers’ sunset, surrounded by thousands of people consumed by Coldplay’s most loved songs, which echoed around the jumping stadium – it was an epic moment of pure happiness and realization of what we’d all been missing.
It’s been a summer of resetting our wellbeing in any which way we feel important to us. Whether that be at a concert, the theatre, spending time with the people we love or alone, travelling, celebrating or just appreciating the small things. It’s a somewhat refreshing perspective to have. Even with so many things continuously interrupting our attention and day to day lives, a new vision has been formed from all we have lost and learnt throughout a very turbulent period of time, and now it’s ours for the taking!

Armani Man
New season Italian fashion, by Dennis Sterne.
Ablank page and a pencil: such has been the starting point of every Giorgio Armani collection since 1975. Armani drafted his menswear masterpiece decades ago, but the cycle of fashion means that it is constantly subject to revisions, elisions, alterations, and edits; every season sees a new layer placed over the one before. This one contained a direct reference to his very first menswear collection in the close up print of raffia weave used in roomy blousons, pants, and bags, but that archival gesture was not the point. “The collection surely recalls the past, without making it all about the past,” he said afterwards.
Handwriting
Collarless jackets in gently textured seersucker, lattice framed grip bags, layered logo silk shirting and foulards, silkily
flowing oversized pearl-toned trenches, slingback loose-weave espadrilles, breezy separates in tie-print silks, and a garment dyed indigo twinset were amongst the wearable narrative devices offered. Armani said he had his models carry their straw hats rather than wear them because they are more of a beachside piece than something for the city: similarly he said he avoided shorts.
Vibe
Anear-all white section included an especially magnificent field jacket and cargo pants. This was Armani turning back to his blank page and readying his pencil for the next chapter. As he pointed out, it is by filling those blank pages, over and over, that he taught himself how to become a designer in the first place. www.armani.com
This collection reiterates the code while weaving a new storyline. Forms are soft and lengthened.
Intertwining threads either actually woven or evoked in prints that imitate knots, weaves with a summery feel, and geometric motifs for rhythm.

Chanel Couture
Note: The idea of the Parisienne as a fashion ideal has a rich history. One of the reasons couture continues is, in a sense, to keep history alive, to retain manners and means of creation that would otherwise have been erased.
Chanel 23/24 A/W Couture
CHANEL Couture winter ’24 is a study of French allure.
The French Girl is an undeniable icon: An elusive figure of perfectly tousled hair, a sultry accent and clothing that always looks chic. It was this portrait of the Parisienne that took centre stage in CHANEL’s Haute Couture winter ’24 collection, with Artistic Director Virginie Viard paying homage to the flag bearers of French allure. nspired by a Parisian allure, the CHANEL Fall-Winter 2023/24 Haute Couture collection imagined by Virginie Viard unveils a portrait of a delicate yet bold femininity. The collection, presented on the riverbanks of the Seine, is adorned with embroidered fruits and flowers motifs reminiscent of the still-lives dear to pictural arts. Silhouettes play with masculine codes, mixing together rigour and asymmetry, a self-confident and discreet figure.
Inspired
As is to be expected of a Parisian collection, what followed de Maigret was a parade of tweed, check and tailoring, neat little shift dresses and relaxed silhouettes with dropped waists and slouching shoulders. The palette remained largely neutral — blacks, golds, beiges, greys and browns — with the occasional injection of scarlet, pink or orange. While floral accents, embroidery, metal detailing and yes, even the occasional sequin, were peppered throughout, the collection was anchored in simplicity, with elegant, unfussy design at the core of the collection. Even the CHANEL Bride was understated (though of course, still enviably chic — she is French, after all).

Spring Summer new season 2024
Yves Saint Laurent’s tailoring legacy is reinterpreted for the modern man.
Kim Jones, celebrating his fifth anniversary with Dior, intertwines his own autobiography with the rich histories of the brand. While Yves Saint Laurent’s silhouettes remain a powerful influence, they are reimagined and transformed to breathe new life into the collection. The merging of masculine and feminine elements, British tailoring traditions, and haute couture techniques reveals the deep connection between menswear and womenswear fabrication.
The Vibe
This artistic vision seamlessly blending tradition with subversion. The collection
transcends boundaries, moving from feminine to masculine, from salon to street, and from the classic New Look to the rebellious New Wave.
The collection exudes a sense of crisp and playful modernity, effortlessly blending practicality with luxury. It playfully flirts with pop excess while simultaneously embracing a mix of formal and casual elements in each garment. The collection elevates seemingly ordinary menswear staples such as the Harrington jacket, polo shirt, crew neck sweater, and cardigan, transforming them into extraordinary pieces through symbolic techniques like tweeds, embroideries, and the signature cannage pattern.
Kim Jones says “Dior is an haute couture house: it is all about the clothes. At the heart of Dior is silhouette, shape, technique, and fabrication of the very highest order. I like to think that in my five years of being here – this is my fifth-anniversary show and collection – I have never forgotten this.”
Collection - merges classic and archetypal menswear items with symbolic techniques that transcend time and styles at Dior.

Awe Countach
Lamborghini resurrects the Countach name and likeness. While it’s a homologation of the brand’s other hypercars, it’s a surprisingly faithful recreation of the original.
fresh eye
Lamborghini claims this powertrain will achieve zero-to-62 mph in 2.8 seconds and a 221-mph top speed. Before anyone texts their Swiss banker about a seven-figure wire transfer, all 112 copies of the 2022 Countach have already been spoken for.
Super drive
Limited-edition 2022 Lamborghini Countach. While it’s essentially a rebodied Aventador with the heart and soul of a Sián, the Italian automaker did an incredible job recreating the original’s iconic design for modern audiences. The reinvented wedge lacks the original’s pop-up headlights and the massive rear wing that adorned it in its twilight years, but the trademark hexagonal wheel arches and scissor doors are both present. Unlike the old Countach, the new one features a small electric motor powered by a supercapacitor that teams with a mighty mid-mounted V-12 to generate a combined 802 horsepower.
Underneath the Countach’s retro bodywork, which is made of lightweight carbon fiber, is a modern powertrain. Mounted in the middle of the car is an electrically assisted 6.5-liter V-12.
TTEACH Plaques Launches
50 Plaques & Places Exhibition
TTEACH Plaques, an acronym for Transatlantic Trafficked Enslaved African Corrective Historical Plaques is a descendantled initiative founded by Gloria Daniel.
TTEACH Plaques campaigns for reparative interventions and permanent plaques to contextualise Cathedrals, Churches, Universities, Schools and memorials that falsely honour those who profited from the transportation and enslavement of African people.
50 PLAQUES & PLACES is curated by Gloria Daniel and supported by SOAS School of Law, Gender and Media. The exhibition places a spotlight on 50 sites incontrovertibly tied to the transatlantic slave economy. Academics, Artists, Activists and African & Caribbean descendants including: SOAS University of London Professors Gina Heathcote & Vanja Hamzic, Artist Jade de Monserrat, Singer/ Songwriter/Producer Dave Okumu, Writer Jody Burton, Alissandra Cummins of The Barbados Museum & Historical Society and The Black South West Network are some of the confirmed participants.
“50 Plaques & Places draws together multiple voices - artists, poets and descendants of both the enslaved and enslavers. Everyday people who recognise reparative justice lies not in the hands of the ‘Gatekeepers of Britain’. The price of justice cannot and must not be exclusively determined by the heirs of the perpetrators. 50 Plaques & Places strives to claim that space, inviting its audience to demand multiple sites of conscience”.
Gloria Daniel
The Exhibition will run from the 5th - 28th of October, coinciding with Black History Month, and is at The Tabernacle in West London.
The continual hostile environment perpetuated on the Windrush Generation, the refusal of the British Government to fairly compensate for this 21st century injustice and the global outrage at witnessing the 2020 brutal murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and so many more led to the creation of TTEACH Plaques.
Gloria Daniel embarked on a deeper exploration into her family history, with her initial guidance coming from her late cousin Jon Daniel. Jon had traced their lineage all the way to their great-great-grandfather, John Isaac Daniel, who was born into slavery under the ownership of enslaver Thomas Daniel.
“By our names we will KNOW you, not historians but descendants here to correct history”
Gloria Daniel John Isaac Daniel was a survivor of the British trafficking of over 3.5 million people. TTEACH Plaques seeks acknowledgement and atonement from the families and institutions that profited from enslaving and trafficking of these African people and their descendants.
