$10, Denton resident | $15 non-resident A rec pass is required to use the senior centers for non-fee based activities. It includes the Civic Center walking track, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. NEW! The fitness equipment at ALH is included in rec pass for 50+.
Gym Membership
1 month, $20 | 3 months, $40 | annual, $120 A gym membership includes rec pass activities and access to strength training and cardio equipment at rec centers, including the two senior centers. Equipment orientations are available by appointment.
Group Exercise Membership
1 month, $30 | 3 months, $80 | annual, $299 A group exercise membership includes a rec pass and unlimited access to fitness equipment and group exercise classes at all rec centers and both senior centers. Insurance program memberships include group-ex classes.
SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE
We offer program and/or membership enrollment assistance to eligible Denton residents through our partnership with the Denton Parks Foundation. Eligibility in the scholarship program gives low to moderate income residents as much as 50% off an enrollment not to exceed $150 per year. Scholarship funds are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and can be applied towards many different programs and fitness classes. Nicole Brasher is the newly hired supervisor at the Denton Senior Center. Nicole has worked in parks and recreation for the last seven years and served Flower Mound residents for the last four and half years. Nicole is a Certified Park and Recreation Professional. She is passionate about people and ensuring everyone has access to a high quality of life. As a University of North Texas graduate, she is happy to have Denton as her home and serve its residents. Cheylon serves as supervisor of the MLK Jr. Rec Center and American Legion Hall Senior Center. Before working in recreation, she devoted 20+ years of service to students, faculty, and staff at UNT, her alma mater, where she fell in love with the Denton community. Growing up with her grandparents, Cheylon nurtured a desire to work with seniors and serve her community. Yvonne is no stranger to Denton! She worked at the Denton State Supported Living Center for 30 years before joining Denton Parks and Rec. She worked with individuals with special needs, and was the director of Life Skills, where she really began to love working with seniors. She's retired now and excited to put her passion for seniors to work at the ALH Senior Center.

Jane ran a business in Denton for ten years before starting her career with the City. During that time, she also worked for TWU Athletics, and Texas A&M Commerce, as Director of Softball Operations. Heather Rippetoe has a B.S. in Exercise and Sport Science and is an AFAA Certified Group Fitness Instructor. She loves teaching Zumba, Zumba Gold, Les Mills BODYPUMP, and SilverSneakers group exercise classes.

Andi is a Registered Yoga Instructor and is certified in chair and gentle yoga. They have a B.S. in Human Development with a focus in Gerontology and has been teaching at the senior center for four years and was nominated as a Best of Denton County Yoga Instructor in 2020. 6 FITNESS

Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. $35 per 4 week session Enjoy doing ceramics while in the company of others. All potter levels are welcome to create ceramics with green-ware or clay brought from home. The class includes a day of instruction (Thursdays) and day to be creative (Tuesdays); basic supplies and molds, pottery wheel, firings are included. Artists are welcome to bring additional supplies as needed.

April 30, 10 a.m.-noon $20 per class, Denia Learn and sharpen your micro and macro abilities, as well as listening and observation skills with a USA Archery and National Archery in Schools Program certified instructor. Chair volleyball is great for upper body mobility and joint flexibility. It improves cardio-fitness, reflexes, and hand-eye coordination.
Register to be placed on a team which includes five weeks of games that lead up to an exciting single elimination tournament.
The game is played with six players on each side of the court with a beach ball, chairs, and five foot high net. The game is played like regular volleyball, only seated.

Dementia Friendly Nature Walk Join Dementia Friendly Denton County with an Elm Fork Master Naturalist as a guide.
An eight-week program. An agent will lead the outside education and walking class. Locations vary.
Meet up in a new park each week for a walk on a paved path for exercise, education, and sensory simulation. Caregivers are required to attend.

Our day trips go all over the metroplex. Most involve moderate walking or could include stairs. Please speak to staff about any specific concerns you may have.
