Zhou Wendou - Borderless

Page 1

“I hope that through using borders to create a borderless space, the lines between fantasy and reality will become blurred. What you are seeing is not necessarily real, and this will allow the audience to see the world as I see it; to become immersed in the same kind of anxiety,

Zhou Wendou.

For Zhou Wendou, contemporary society is defined by borders and boundaries – not only physical, but increasingly social and psychological. Through a series of installations created especially for this exhibition, heexplores how we are at once both divided and yet united by these borders, and how they affect our perception of the world around us. Having lived in and exhibited in Spain, ZHOU WENDOU’s work has a somewhat global feel, and as such becomes more accessible to an international audience. His installations take objects and sights from everyday life and presents them in a way that makes the audience view them entirely differently - perhaps influenced by his studies of Zen Buddhism and the idea that everything contains its own opposite.
