Melina hails from a long lineage of Chilean artists. Growing up between brushes, colors, and canvases, Melina’s formative years were spent under the watchful guidance of her Grandmother Cuca Burchardt, and her mother, Carolina Landea. Both recognized Chilean painters, from whom
she learned the discipline of observing the reality.
Melina quit her studies at age 14 to immerse herself totally into the world of art. She left Chile at the age of 15 and traveled to Rome to study the works of the renaissance masters such as da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. There she began to dedicate herself seriously to the work of a painter and to spend hours every day among museums and the streets of the city. Capturing with enthusiasm images of the town, the architecture and the spirit of the remarkable city.
Shortly after her return to Santiago, thirst for knowledge and hunger for discovery led her to
embark on a new adventure, one that would stretch across the Pacific.
