Volunteering for this event went well because I got “front-row” seats of the dance and cheer performances! My job was to just hold the gym door open at the end of every performance and before every performance started. I felt like I was on Dance Moms watching the performances from the “curtains” lol. I always think dancers are so cool because the way they can move their body to “vibe” with the music is pure art in my opinion. There were a bunch of schools that came to Desert Oasis some even were from California. I believe Desert Oasis always hosts this competition because our club volunteered for the 2023 competition too. This is a great way to get service hours since it’s at out very own school and you get free entertainment!

The event was great! I was in charge of selling concessions to competitors and adults, and the atmosphere was very energetic! I met another person from my key club that I'm only familiar with by face, so it was really nice to know their name and work with them. In addition to working with my peers, I also worked with adults that are either parents or guardians of the participants, and they were super supportive! One parent even offered to buy us snacks and drinks, which we appreciated very much. From the concessions room point of view, you can see what everyone's doing before showcasing their performances, and that made it the highlight of my experience; I would definitely do this volunteering event again!

Jaxson Sparano | 9 The USA LV classics were incredibly fun! Throughout my time doing service that day I held the doors to the gym for visitors, served concessions, and was a score runner. Each of these were incredibly fun and seeing the smile on people’s faces while they root for their children’s team is so fun to see! I would definitely do this event again and can’t wait for next year! Volunteering at the USA LV Classics Cheer Trischelle Molina |10 and Dance Competition was a great experience. I worked in the concessions selling chips, drinks, coffee/hot cocoa, and nachos. In the morning I was in charge of make Keurig cup coffee, and I had to learn on the spot. During the afternoon it was rush hour, so I was running to restock all of the drinks in the refrigerator, all the chips on the counter, and also taking orders. It took a toll on me because I didn’t sit down during the entirety of my 7 hour shift. On the bright side, it was really fun volunteering with my friends, seeing all the dancers and cheerleaders from different schools, and interacting with the adults volunteering with us. They were so sweet and patient even during rush hour so I really admire them. I loved working behind the counter and seeing the different people.

What are your goals f
Catherine Nguyen, Treasurer
For the new year, I want to work on drinking more water and getting a healthy sleep schedule. For hobbies, I want to work on my current hobbies and improving my ceramic skills and expanding my charm business, as well as trying other hobbies like reading, drawing, and painting. And for my academics, I really want to build study habits. Lastly, a big goal of mine is to get my license!!!
Olivia Nguyen, Secretary
For 2024, I aspire to be a more outgoing person! I wanna talk to more people and get to try new things. I also want to procrastinate less and be more productive with my time.
My New Year’s resolutions are just to drink more water and to slowly but surely come over my anxiety. I hope all you barbies had a great break and I’m so excited for what the new year has in store for DO Key Club! <3

ew Years!
for the New Year? My New Year’s resolution is to live life to the fullest. No more hesitation and “what if”. I only get to live this life once and I should get to enjoy it without feeling scared or nervous. Go for it and face my fears head on. Cheers to 2024!
Kayla Lee, SAA
DJ Borum, Upperclassmen Representative
My New Year's goal is to be more consistent with everything I do instead of puting stuff off for later. Doing a little bit each day that can positively affect me or the people around me.
This year, I’ve been more active in my fitness journey. Before I go to bed, I try to get my daily workouts in. One of my resolutions was to get fit and watch what I eat + drink. 2024 is the start of my senior yeuar too and I truly can’t believe I’m gonna be a senior this year. I’ve been giving myself more mental breaks than I have for the past few years. The end of my 2023 made me realize how much I need to start prioritizing myself + my future altogether.
