Leader of Opposition and Dr Andrew Charlton MP, member for Parramatta and a keynote address was also delivered by His Excellency Manpreet Vohra, Indian High Commissioner.

A national selection panel which is regionally, and gender balanced has been established to review nominations received. The Patron of the panel is Her Excellency Harinder Sidhu, Australian High Commissioner to New Zealand.

The panel membership include:

4Mr Tarandeep Ahuja, Chair of selection panel and Partner, McKinsey & Company, Melbourne and leads the Energy practise for ANZ for McKinsey. He was a major contributor to the development of Australia’s India Economic Strategy to 2035.

4Gurmesh Singh MP, member of Coffs

Harbour, first Australian Sikh member of Parliament with a background in agriculture and a small business operator.

4Pam Bains, Group Executive Network Aurizon, the largest private inland railways company in Australia. Based in Brisbane, she is also a non-executive director of NBN.

4Sarvjit Girn, previous CIO of the Reserve Bank of Australia and currently CIO of I Med, Australia’s largest radiology company. Based in Sydney

4Manpreet Kaur Singh, Program Manager SBS Radio and award-winning journalist and media personality. Based in Melbourne

4Pardip Singh Pangly, multifaceted technologist managing a range of business including caravans, manufacturing and farming. Secretary of the Australian National Sikh Sports and Cultural Council. Based in Adelaide.

4Kuldip Kaur Jassal, first Sikh woman officer in the Royal Australian Air Force. Currently working with the Education Department in WA and is based in Perth.

“As of 9 May, 45 nominations have been received from across the nation and we anticipate over 50 nominations by the closing date of 20 May” said Gursimrat Bawa, YSPN External Affairs Lead.

The winners will be announced at the Gala Awards Night Corporate Dinner at the Shangri La Hotel Sydney on the 17 June 2023.
