Department of Foreign Affairs LISBON TREATY 2009
The Lisbon Treaty was negotiated by the EU Member States over a six year period. It was signed in Lisbon on 13 December 2007 by the Heads of State or Government of the 27 EU Member States. The Treaty consists of amendments to the two main EU Treaties, the Treaty on European Union and the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. The Irish Government played a leading role in the negotiations during the Irish Presidency of the European Union in 2004. Design Factory were invited by the Department of Foreign Affairs to design a suite of visual communications materials to inform and update voters on the main issues surrounding the upcoming referendum on October 2nd 2009.

Design Factory has created the new brand identity for rx3 formerly the Market Development Programme. Working with Senior Management, Design Factory developed the brand strategy and designed a highly visible identity and strap-line communicating the core message of this important new statutory body.

Office of Public Works

OPW Office of Public Works
Series of A5 brochures for the Office of Public Works. This spread demonstrates the volume of work that a commercial studio undertakes for some clients. It is the kind of work that goes on in the background in many design agencies; ‘bread and butter work’, Conor Clarke calls it. In this case, however, there is ‘great subject matter and a good client who we enjoy working with’. He claims Design Factory have done ‘hundreds’ of these booklets on Irish heritage sites. The general house style is already well-established and the design of each individual booklet is largely dependent on
a well-considered page design. The challenge is to create a layout supple enough to coherently present the same information in each of several different languages. This exercise provides a testing first project for junior designers and as a result each young designer in Design Factory has a special attachment to one or more of Ireland’s heritage sites...
