This course has been put together to help students build confidence in their free-hand drawing abilities. It introduces students to drawing as a means ofvisual communication developing freehand drawing skills for interior design applications is the focus ofthe program. A professional designer has the ability to listen to the client, to capture what he imagines and to anticipate his needs and aspirations. His main role is to translate the clients’ goals, needs, and aspirations into concrete design concepts, that in turn can be transformed into livable and meaningful settings and products. Each ofthese ideas are decoded on paper and, when needed, in 3-D model form. Throughout this term, Students will gain the ability to dissect forms and spaces in numerous ways, thereby allowing them to appreciate an interior architecture in terms of formal elements scale, shape and proportion.. As for the chosen medium, students utilize fast-paced freehand drawing techniques to record sequential experiences ofmoving through architectural spaces. By constructing conventional architectural drawings, such as plans, elevations, and perspectives, students will enrich their perception ofthe designer’s design process, and will enhance one’s visually abilities using a pencil, felt tip pens.

A soft copy of the drawings will be submitted to the students. The students will think particularly of designing a boutique or a concept store that add new character and style to the commercial district. Each student is the decisionmaker of the type of the products, the goals of the shop owners, the needs and aspirations of the potential users as well as the potential activities of these users. Afterwards, they choose the perceptual dimensions that cope with their projects and identify and propose the design attributes of the physical setting as perceptual stimulators.

Boutique hotels are described as personalized, customized, unique, and individual. Boutique hotel will be chosen as the selected type of activity and the selected type of settings. The suggested site is in Al-Khobar City. Student will think particularly of designing a boutique hotel that add new character and style to the hotel district. Boutique hotels are often individual and focused on offering their services in a comfortable, intimate, and welcoming setting, so they are very unlikely to be found amongst the homogeneity of large hotel, “some hotel guests look for s great diversity of products and decide to visit a different property each time they return to an area. They may be satisfied with a hotel, but their desire for something new, something extroardinary reduces their loyalty to a given hotel: Nevertheless, travelers nowadays expect more than simply comfort and convenience. An increasing number of travelers prefer to be “surprised -positively, needless to say. When planning trips, they seek properties that are noticeably different in look and feel from branded hotels. In conclusion, the main aim of boutique hotels is to offer their clients a unique experience through the pursuit of a unique environment, extraordinary features and personalized service. Nowadays, clients are willing to pay more for the extraordinary feeling offered by boutique hotels.

Desiging a Lighting Fixture Students should design a lighting fixture for any of the given spaces or types of hardware. They were to use the knowledge acquired in the class lectures for this exercise. The medium was free. Recycling and reusing materials were encouraged. The students decided on the place and activity, and designed the lamp fixture accordingly. The color of the light itself was important for creating the specific mood for the function. The color and finish of the background i.e., wall, ceiling, etc. were considered by them. Material, texture and color of the shade of the lamp were recognized as important aspects of the fixture design.

The aim of this project is to focus on Saudi regional identities through the development of the cultural landscape shaped by agriculture, techniques of irrigations, use of natural resources, trade or water treatment and oil extraction or any other customs, traditions and lifestyles that reflect the local cultural identity. The project purpose is to create an open-air exhibition connected to the college of design considered as a cultural center supposed to be located in Jeddah or Ryiadh, Abha or East Region (depending on the group). The outdoor exhibition has to promote Saudi regional identities through the development of the main elements of the landscape. In this context, the outdoor exhibition should be designed as a space where Saudi peoples can express their identities and creativities through the theme of Man and nature. It shows that human beings are interrelated with nature in a harmonious way.

The Exploratorium is a museum whose stated mission is to change the way the world learns. It can be described as a unique type of science museum because of “the nature of its exhibits, its wide-ranging influence and its sophisticated teacher training program. Nowadays there is only one Exploratorium located in San Francisco. It has been described by the New York Times as the most important science museum to have opened since the mid-20th century. The interior is divided into several galleries mainly separated by content, including the physics of seeing and listening (Light and Sound), Human Behavior, Living Systems, Tinkering (including electricity and magnetism), the Outdoor Gallery, and the Bay Observatory Gallery, which focuses on local environment, weather, and landscape. In addition to the public exhibition space, the Exploratorium has been engaged in the professional development of teachers, science education reform, and the promotion of museums as informal education centers since its founding. Interior Design 9 course plans to guide our students to create the second Exploratorium in the world in the city of Al-Khobar. This project will upgrade Scitech (Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Science & Technology Center) from an ordinary science center to an Exploratorium and become a twenty-firstcentury learning laboratory, always-changing, playful place to explore and tinker. The students will develop creative, thought-provoking exhibits, tools, programs, and experiences that ignite curiosity, encourage exploration, and lead to profound learning. Scitech is located on the Corniche of the city of Al-Khobar and covers 21,700 sq. meters. The building itself consists of 14,100 sq. and it represents is the best candidate for such a project. Every four students were required to redesign the whole area of the building as a group work, then each one focused in designing one or two of the exhibition halls.
