Τα smartwatch έγιναν απαραίτητο αξεσουάρ πριν από μερικά χρόνια, καθώς μπήκαν στη ζωή μας για να καλύψουν το μεγάλο εύρος των σύγχρονων αναγκών στις οποίες ένα συμβατικό ρολόι δεν μπορεί να ανταποκριθεί. I t has only been a few years since smartwatches came into our lives and sooner than later became essential accessories, stepping in to cover a wide range of modern needs that a conventional watch simply could not meet. These needs, however, differ from one user to the next and this is the reason why every company and every new model created has a different target in mind, whether they are focusing on connectivity, health and fitness, sports or even design. ASUS ZENWATCH 2

It is a second generation smartwatch, equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor operating at 1.2GHz along with 4GB of storage. Available in two sizes -18 and 22mm- and three colors -silver, rose gold and gun metal-, it is primarily aimed at customization, offering a choice of 18 different bracelets and leather or rubber straps. It is compatible with both Android and iOS devices, while its battery lasts up to two days and can be charged within 45 minutes. It has an integrated Wi-Fi chip, allowing it to utilize all the innovations of Android Wear, such as the use of hand gestures to operate or lock the watch. You can find it at a price of around €190. When a product results from the collaboration of three industry giants, then the result is sure to be impressive. The TAG Heuer Connected is a luxury smartwatch that combines INTEL and Google technology with TAG Heurer’s 150-year history in watchmaking. Design-wise, it does not resemble a smartwatch, but rather embraces the look of the popular Carrera collection. It is equipped with the Android Wear OS, compatible with both Android and iOS devices and is accompanied by a variety of applications suited for all tastes: from the basic Google apps and classic functions such as a chronometer, alarm and stopwatch, to the more sophisticated Insiders, GolfShot and Viewranger apps. It is available with a two-year guarantee at an indicative price of €1,400, while its owner, after the warranty has expired, is offered the option of exchanging it for a traditional Carrera model, specifically designed for Connected users.

When you are a devoted fan of technology and wearables, one company comes to mind when thinking of smartwatches - Pebble, a brand known for focusing on three main points: affordable price, long battery life (10 days) and connectivity with both Android and iOS devices. The new Pebble Time emphasizes on design, offering several options as to its colors and straps, but still requires Pebble’s proprietary cable for recharging it. It features an improved screen resolution, a built-in microphone, and Pebble Health with an integrated heart rate monitor. The new model of the Horological Smartwatch collection belongs to the analogue smartwatch category. It has a 42mm steel case in the color of rose gold, paired to a navy blue dial with gold indications and a blue alligator leather strap. At 6 o’clock, we find the sub-dial that displays the user’s progress regarding the goal of the day (steps or hours of sleep), along with a second time zone which appears by pressing on the crown three times. Motion X has taken care of Fitness Tracking, synchronizing the watch with Frédérique Constant’s specialized app, where it stores all collected data. Although it does not have the ability to provide notifications for calls, messages or emails, it offers a significant advantage in terms of its battery, which does not need charging, but is only changed once every two years. Παρά το μειονέκτημα της έλλειψης GPS, τo Apple Watch παραμένει υπόδειγμα υψηλής αισθητικής και ποιότητας. Έρχεται σε δύο μεγέθη -38 και 42mm- προσφέροντας ικανοποιητική ποικιλία σε λουράκια και μπρασελέ. Η οθόνη του έχει ανάλυση 240x270pixels και 390x312pixels στο μεγαλύτερο, ενώ το ρολόι τρέχει με Watch OS. Δέχεται έξυπνες ενημερώσεις, πραγματοποιεί κλήσεις και διαθέτει fitness apps. Despite the absence of a GPS module, the Apple Watch remains an industry standard in terms of aesthetics and quality. It comes in two sizes -38 and 42mm- with a sufficient variety of straps and bracelets. Its screen has a resolution of 240x270pixels, or 390x312pixels for the larger of the two models, while it runs the familiar WatchOS. It can receive and reply to smart notifications, make phone calls, while also featuring various fitness apps. Apple’s newest model, the highly anticipated Apple Watch 2, is expected to be released soon.

Samsung took us by surprise this year with its Gear S2, emerging victorious in all comparisons, as attested by its partnership with the de Grisogono maison. The model is available in two versions, the Gear S2 and the Gear S2 Classic, made of steel and paired to a plastic or leather strap respectively. The screen has a 360x360pixel resolution with increased brightness, and is surrounded by a rotating bezel through which the user can switch between applications. It also offers 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. The watch runs the user-friendly Tizen OS, which includes all the popular Samsung apps.

The French maison’s designers drew their inspiration from wheat, in order to create a high jewellery collection consisting of 62 pieces that take us back to Coco Chanel’s childhood summers. The Premiers Brins, Brins de Printemps and Brins de Diamants lines depict shoots of wheat through the use of 18K white gold, diamonds, green tourmalines, aquamarines and peridots, while the Moisson Ensoleillée, Bouquet de Moisson and Moisson de Perles lines depict the harvest of ripe wheat with 18K yellow gold, yellow and white diamonds along with yellow sapphires.
