Central Minister to get well soon RAIPUR: Appreciating the courage of Congress leaders in Chhattisgarh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi said the "cowardly" Maoist strike was not an attack on the Congress or its leaders but on democratic values. "I appreciate the courage and bravery of the leaders who inspite of several adversities, took a step and went there," she said addressing party workers at the Congress Bhawan here after visiting the injured in hospital.
"This is a cowardly act on the part of Maoists. It is not an attack on Congress or its leaders, but an attack on democratic values," she said while expressing grief and anguish over the Naxal attack. The attack is a "challenge for us," she said and added that people have seen that leaders have faced challenges and sacrificed their lives. Heavily-armed Maoists ambushed a convoy of Congress leaders in Chattisgarh's Sukma district, killing 27 people including senior Congress leader Mahendra Karma, state party chief Nand Kumar Patel and his son injuring senior leader V C Shukla and 31 others.

Chief Minister Shri Chauhan launches Atal Jyoti Abhiyan in Madhya Pradesh
BHOPAL: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan has said that the State Government will provide house rent to students of village who pursue education in cities. Under the scheme, if 5 students rent a house, the State Government will pay its rent. Shri Chauhan stated this while launching Atal Jyoti Abhiyan in Shajapur district. In the programme, the Chief Minister also gave away benefit letters to beneficiaries under various schemes. The Chief Minister announced Rs. 60 lakh lighting arrangements on AB Road in Shajapur town, Rs. 2 crore for construction of swimming pool, Rs. 60 lakh for construction of bridge from Shri Ghat to Marasia Ghat on Chillar River and Rs. 1 crore for development of Shajapur Mandi.
