Be united or face consequences: Rahul Gandhi MOHAN KHEDA (DHAR): Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, taking a serious note of internal bickering and factionalism in Madhya Pradesh Congress Party, warned party leaders to be united or be prepared to face the consequences in 2013 Assembly elections. Addressing select party workers at the Jain pilgrimage here. Rahul Gandhi said, "I have come to know about short comings of Congress Party in Madhya Pradesh," called upon the senior leaders to fall in line. With an oblique reference ti senior leaders Digvijay Singh, Kamal Nath, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Suresh Pachouri, Kantilal Bhuria and Ajay Singh 'Rahul', the Congress vice president said, "No matter how senior or popular the leader is, he or she would be taken to task if found to be indulged in factionalism at the cost of party." He further said that an other unsavory development that he has been noticing in Madhya Pradesh unit of Congress Party is the neglect of grass-root level workers. "To get them heard, it is essential that the
block development and zilla panchayat level leaders have a say in election of district level committees and selection of candidates." This was Rahul Gandhi's first visit to the state after he took over as the vice president. "MLAs and MPs are getting heard, but I want that the workers at the grass-root level too are given due attention," he said. Though the media was not allowed to cover the meeting between Rahul Gandhi and the party workers, but sources shared the closed door communication with the media on condition of anonymity.Sources said that the party workers openly registered their protest during the inter action with the leader. They alleged step-motherly treatment, and factionalism among the senior leaders as the main reasons for demoralization of workers at the grass-root level. Some party workers raised slogans in the support of the Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to make him the face of Congress Party for the coming assembly elections. The workers created pandemonium seeking the intervention of MP Congress in-charge B.K. Hariprasad. Sources further said that the Rahul Gandhi had assured the Madhya Pradesh leaders and workers that the tickets for the next assembly elections would be distributed by July or August 2013.
