From start to finish, every step of the production of every drop of 45th Parallel Vodka occurs under our control in our facility in New Richmond, WI. Our more traditional method of production perhaps requires more effort and is more costly than other more in vogue methods, but it is our way of being assured the highest quality of spirits is in our bottles. As a small batch producer, we use taste and smell to determine the level of filtration needed for each individual batch. Our premium vodka has no additives or artificial flavorings. We carefully preserve the positive qualities provided by the grain. Our vodka’s natural flavor and body is maintained through a stringent and meticulous process and by not over filtering. Notes:

Wes Henderson (COO)

www.angelsenvy.com

One man’s masterpiece, Angel’s Envy is an artisan bourbon inspired by Lincoln Henderson’s lifetime spent perfecting his craft and creating fine spirits. There may just be a spark of divine vision mixed in as well. Recognized by Malt Advocate, The Bourbon Review and Maxim as one of the top spirits released in 2010, Angel’s Envy is positioned as the world’s premier super-premium bourbon brand. Beyond all the press, Angel’s Envy is Lincoln Henderson’s passion — a career culminating in two fingers of the finest bourbon you’ve ever tasted. To call Angel’s Envy “small batch” is an understatement. Our bourbon starts with the native Kentucky climate and soil in which our corn and rye are grown, and a pristine limestone watershed rich in calcium and magnesium. These local ingredients are distilled and aged for four to six years in American white oak barrels. Because we want to create a genuinely unique spirit, we age it for three to six additional months in hand-selected port casks to create an exceptionally smooth and nuanced bourbon. Shake the bottle. If you’re lucky enough, you might see something special. We like to call it “essence.” We don’t filter our bourbon. If you’re looking for a filtered bourbon, the shelves are full of them. Filtration can remove up to 20% of a bourbon’s flavor and color. We prefer to let our bourbon live in its natural state. If that means an occasional particle, we think you’ll understand. But why do we call it Angel’s Envy? As bourbon ages in the barrels, it’s drawn into the charred white oak during summer months and it recedes back into the virgin barrels during winter months. For each year of maturation, 5% of the barrel’s bourbon is lost to evaporation. For generations, this precious lost bourbon has been called the Angel’s Share. After tasting his creation, Lincoln Henderson reckoned that the angels might have wanted a bigger cut. Thus, Angel’s Envy was born.

isconsin’s small distillers face many challenges including government regulation and taxation issues, and misconceptions of safety. We believe that there is a great lack of understanding of spirits when compared to other types of alcoholic beverages and hope to become a reference to dispel some of these misunderstood issues.

Aeppeltreow Winery was started in 2001 with the mission of crafting locally grown heirloom apples into elegant ‘hard’ ciders. In 2009, we added distilling to our portfolio, and once again we bring our grow it-make it-drink it aesthetic to our efforts, whether it’s our own antique apples, grapes from the Driftless Area, Wisconsin White Oak barrels, or Sorghum from Elkhart Lake. We aren’t afraid to source it close to home and take the time to show you local flavor. Notes:

Small batch bitters are making their mark on the cocktail scene. In cities like New York, Boston, and San Francisco, cocktail enthusiasts and bartenders are rediscovering long lost recipes and coming up with new signature flavors which help create the palate of the New American Cocktail. While living in San Francisco in early 2007, Avery and Janet Glasser used high proof spirit and a variety of herbs, peels, and spices to create an extract of a traditional Mexican cooking sauce. This extract became the prototype recipe for the Xocolatl Mole Bitters. The summer of 2010 marked a dramatic rebirth for Bittermans; winding down previous licensing agreements, striking new partnerships, developing new products, and most importantly, leasing a commercial kitchen. All Bittermens products are now being made by hand at our Brooklyn facility using primarily organic ingredients. Bittermens also consults with bars and restaurants looking to develop signature in-house formulations. Avery and Janet Glasser started Bittermens, Inc. with the vision of creating a new type of cocktail bitters. In the years that followed, Bittermens has grown to become one of the largest artisanal producers of cocktail bitters, flavoring extracts, and other curiosities – such as vinegar based shrubs and exquisitely sour citrates. Fate intervened when they were reunited with long time friend Mayur Subbarao, a master vermouth formulator and creator of wonderful cordials while working together on a New York pop-up bar concept.

Since 1870 it has been known by several names, including most notably, the George T. Stagg Distillery and the O.F.C. Distillery. Its namesake bourbon brand, Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskey, was introduced in August 1999. The Buffalo Trace Distillery stands as the oldest distilling site in the United States. Located on what the company claims was once an ancient buffalo crossing on the banks of the Kentucky River in Franklin County, the distillery is named after the American bison that created paths followed by America’s early pioneers. The Sazerac Company, a New Orleans, Louisianabased producer and importer purchased the distillery in 1992 and is now the parent company of Buffalo Trace Distillery. The Buffalo Trace Distillery is home to the world’s smallest bonded storage warehouse, Warehouse V. This warehouse only stores a single barrel of whiskey at a time. Notes:

The legend begins in New Orleans, where the Bulleit family emigrated from France in the 1700’s. Around 1830, Augustus Bulleit moved from New Orleans to Louisville, KY., taking with him his talent for brandy making. As a tavern keeper in Louisville, he began producing small batches of bourbon. Relentless in his pursuit of perfection, he experimented with different recipes. When he found one that consistently met his expectations, the inspiration for Bulleit Bourbon was born. In 1860, while transporting barrels of whiskey from Kentucky back to his hometown of New Orleans, Augustus Bulleit died. With him, it appeared, died the making of his legendary bourbon. As decades passed, the Bulleit family never lost its passion for telling the story of Augustus Bulleit, nor the desire to resurrect his signature creation. After more than a century, the family returned at last to bourbon making. In 1987, Tom Bulleit fulfilled a lifelong dream by reviving his family’s ancestral distilling enterprise using the original recipe of his great-great-grandfather. Notes:

Jeanine Racht

(National Brand Ambassador) 503.248.9470 2389 NW Wilson Portland, OR, 97210 clearcreekdistillery.com/

Steve McCarthy started Clear Creek Distillery twentyeight years ago because he wanted to find the best use for the fruit from the McCarthy family’s orchard. During his travels in Europe he became acquainted with a number of traditional European spirits, among them an eau de vie made from Williams Pear. Steve knew that with the wonderful fruit we grow in the Pacific Northwest he could make brandy just as good as that he had tried in Europe; that is the origin of Clear Creek Distillery. The name Clear Creek comes from the creek that runs through the pear orchard in Parkdale, Oregon. A genuine artisan distillery reflects the best of the natural and agricultural resources of its region. Clear Creek Distillery has succeeded in doing this, making world-class eau de vie and grappa for over twenty-six years. At Clear Creek we have married European traditional brandy-making techniques with the finest fruit from our own Oregon orchards to produce fruit eaux de vie, grappas, and wine brandy. We use the traditional European pot still along with techniques learned in Alsace and Switzerland. No colors or flavors are ever added to our brandies. The distinctive “nose”, or initial smell of the brandy in a snifter, is the result of careful fermentation and distillation of perfectly ripe fruit. You will taste only the clear and fiery essence of Oregon’s finest fruits. For fourteen years we have also been making an Oregon version of an Islay Scotch, McCarthy’s Oregon Single Malt Whiskey distilled from a fermented mash of peat-malted Scottish barley. We continue the tradition of using the best Northwest fruit and berries in our seven recently developed liqueurs. We start with brandy that we distill, macerate lots of fruit in it, and lightly sweeten.

With apologies to the band Orleans, StilltheOne is a tribute to my wife Laura. We met in 1982, were married in 1984, and after all these years, she’s StilltheOne. Like our marriage, StilltheOne was born of passion. For the distillery, it was a passion for quality spirits and to create spirits excellent in quality and unique and delicious in taste. We had to create something different because the world didn’t need another overpriced bottle of ordinary vodka. Ed left corporate America (or did it leave him…) and, relying on our savings and Laura’s economic and emotional support, he spent a year conducting wine making experiments, taking distillation classes in California and working in a small winery and distillery in Cognac, France. After much research and hard work, we found the right varietal honey and yeast combinations and the precise distillation technique to create an incredible honey based vodka we call COMB. We believe COMB is one of the best vodkas at any price and invite you to “Taste the Craft of Comb” Notes:

Washington Island, Wisconsin is the heart and soul of everything produced by Death’s Door Spirits. This 22 square mile island hosts 700 year-round residents and has a school, a rec center, a medical clinic, a downtown strip with bars and a grocery, churches, a bank and a gas station. What Washington Island also has is miles of beautiful uninterrupted shoreline, protected coves and inlets, and acres upon acres of open land with rolling hills and hardwood stands. Washington Island was once known for its potato farming. Washington Island “spuds” made their way around the world for their quality and flavor. However, in the early 1970’s, vertical integration in the potato industry left Washington Island without contracts to grow its crops. Without customers, island farmers stopped planting and instead switched to other jobs that were either more tourism-based, or moved off the island to find a livelihood elsewhere. Fast forward to 2005, a small group of like-minded people began exploring reinvigorating farming on Washington Island. Armed with enough seed to plant 5 acres and enough know-how to get it done - brothers Tom and Ken Koyen began growing wheat on the island. What started as wheat to use as flour at the Washington Island Hotel has grown into a select specialty grain for use in Capital Brewery’s Island Wheat Ale and all of Death’s Door Spirits products. Door County Distillery was started because there was a need for artisan spirits to be distilled with the abundant natural resources of Door County. The Carlsville location was chosen because it is the gateway to Northern Door County and a prime location to source fresh botanicals, fruits, and grain. Having honed his skills over the last 9 years, our distiller, Kyle Thomas, hand crafts each batch with precision and unique combinations of ingredients to give Door County Distillery spirits a distinctive twist and quality that is beyond compare in the current market. If you haven’t tried one of these crafts, you haven’t truly enjoyed vodka or gin. Having successfully entered the super-premium category with Gin and Vodka (Gin winning multiple awards including Gold in 2012,) Door County Distillery is using the talents of Kyle Thomas to expand into Whiskey and Brandy in 2013. We are excited to explore new ventures in 2013 and beyond. Notes:

Few Spirits is a grain to glass distillery in Evanston IL. Master Distiller Paul Hletko handcrafts bourbon, rye, gin, and whiskey using midwestern grains for a unique craft spirit. Few Spirits (FewSpirits.com) started distilling in June 2011, and began distribution in the Chicago area in August 2011. Since then, Few Spirits can be found at the finest establishments across Chicago, from Longman & Eagle to mk. As a grain to glass distillery, Few does not use any neutral grain spirits, preferring to mash and ferment their spirit in house. By focusing our efforts on producing our alcohol in house, we control the quality of the spirit and it allows us to create our hand crafted spirits in ways that other distilleries simply cannot. Few makes every effort to make sure you can taste where the alcohol comes from Midwestern grain, from Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana. Few brings its American Gin, White Whiskey, and, if you ask nicely, perhaps a quick taste of rye or bourbon which is extremely limited in distribution. Few American Gin is a whiskey drinker’s gin and can even be served neat, as it is inspired by the dutch genever gins. Few White Whiskey has a complexity beyond most unaged whiskies, owing to its 3 grain mashbill, and double distillation to attain a soft, floral whiskey flavor. On the other hand, Few Bourbon and Few Rye are deep, thick, rich whiskey - when you can find them. Notes:

It began when Paul Jones, Jr., the founder of Four Roses Bourbon, became smitten by the beauty of a Southern belle. It is said that he sent a proposal to her, and she replied that if her answer were “Yes,” she would wear a corsage of roses on her gown to the upcoming grand ball. Paul Jones waited for her answer excitedly on that night of the grand ball ... when she arrived in her beautiful gown, she wore a corsage of four red roses. He later named his Bourbon “Four Roses” as a symbol of his devout passion for the lovely belle, a passion he thereafter transferred to making his beloved Four Roses Bourbon. Paul Jr.’s passion for his Bourbon exists today in the hearts of the Master Distiller and all Four Roses employees. Product quality is always the first concern, as you can see from the careful selection of grains, unique to the mashbill, to the careful nurturing and preservation of the multiple yeast strains, which give every Four Roses Bourbon its unique character and rich, fruity flavors. The gentle maturation of each barrel in one-of-a-kind single story rack warehouses is a Four Roses innovation that allows the Bourbon to age gently inside the barrels in uniform fashion while remaining undisturbed throughout the years. Nestled on the Highland Rim of the Cumberland Plateau, you will find us about halfway between Nashville and Chattanooga. The ancient limestone shelf of this plateau provides water that runs fresh and clear from the nearby Cascade Springs, and it made the perfect spot to build a distillery. In 1870, George A. Dickel used this same pure water to distill his first bottle of Tennessee Whisky in Cascade Hollow as well as many unique techniques when producing his premium whisky. Today, George Dickel Tennessee Whisky is still handcrafted with the same quality and attention to detail that ensures that each drop of George Dickel is as remarkable now as it was when the first batch was made. George A. Dickel discovered that whisky made during the winter was smoother than whisky made in the summer. So, George Dickel is the only Tennessee whisky to chill the whisky before it goes into the charcoal mellowing vats. This filters out the oils and fatty acids inherent in most whisky products. Then as it is now, Cascade Hollow is a place where time isn’t measured in hours, days, or months, but in years. Where patience is not only a virtue, but an essential ingredient in making the finest Tennessee Whisky. In fact, it is so smooth, George Dickel declared that because his whisky was as smooth as the finest scotch, he would always spell the “whiskey” in George Dickel Tennessee Whisky without an “e”, keeping with the Scotch whisky tradition. Nick Coglianese (Wisconsin State Manager) (847) 212-1833 P.O. Box 729 Bardstown, KY 40004 heaven-hill.com ncoglianese@heavenhill.com Heaven Hill was founded shortly after the repeal of Prohibition in 1935 by several investors, including a prominent distiller, Joseph L. Beam, and a member of the Shapira family. As the company developed, the five brothers of the Shapira family bought out the other investors. Joe Beam remained as Master Distiller, along with his youngest son, Harry. Descendants of the Shapira brothers own and run the company to this day. The original name was “Old Heavenhill Springs” distillery. The company was founded as a bourbon distillery, and for most of its existence has concentrated on its flagship bourbon labels, Evan Williams and Elijah Craig. However, in the past two decades the company has expanded its portfolio significantly, acquiring brands or obtaining import rights for gins, malt whiskey, vodkas, and other drinks. Warehouses for aging bourbon at Heaven Hill’s Bardstown headquarters. The black fungus growing near the bottom is Baudoinia compniacensis, a natural result of the maturing process. On November 7, 1996, Heaven Hill’s production plant was almost completely destroyed by fire. Several of the company’s warehouses were destroyed, and over 90,000 gallons of alcohol lost. The company survived the next several years through the provision of production capacity by its fellow local bourbon labels, Brown-Forman and Jim Beam, until its purchase and adaptation of the new Heaven Hill Bernheim distillery in Louisville. While fermenting, mashing, and distilling occurs at the new distillery, aging, bottling, and shipping still occur in Bardstown. The Heaven Hill company strongly emphasizes the history and traditions of bourbon in its public relations, highlighting the company’s location in the historical home of bourbon-making and its status as the only such company still under local ownership. In 2004, a Bourbon Heritage Center was opened on the old distillery grounds, featuring historical exhibits and guided tours of the plant. The company also hosts the annual Kentucky Bourbon Festival, and several of the company’s brands are named after famous local distillers.

A small batch bourbon is made for the true connoisseur, every sip a testament to the work and love that has gone into each handcrafted bottle. Formed by the perfect blending of art and science, Knob Creek, Basil Hayden’s, Booker’s and Baker’s are each made from their own special, time-honored recipes - some dating back two centuries - providing distinctive aromas and tastes to tempt the most discriminating palate. As the name suggests, these ultra-premium, small batch bourbons are made in limited quantities. Aged from six to nine years in new, charred American white oak barrels, each is characteristic of pre-Prohibition whiskey, with strong, rich flavors and aromas. A small batch bourbon is a complex balance of taste and flavor. Notes:

In the beginning of 1936, the Willett Distilling Company produced it’s first batch of 300 bushels. The Newly Barreled Whiskey was stored in one of the eight warehouses, each capable of holding between 5,000-6,000 barrels. The warehouses were built on some of the highest ground in the county, assuring that a fresh breeze would aid in the maturation of the whiskey. Five years after the foundation of the Willett Distilling Company, Lambert retired from the Max Selliger & Co. to manage his farm and oversee the distilling process. The Willet Distilling Company continued to operate until the early 1980’s. The Willet’s had made their mark on the Bourbon industry and it was now time for them to retire. On July 1, 1984, Even G. Kulsveen, a native of Hamar, Norway, and son-in-law to Thompson Willet, purchased the property from the Willet’s and formed Kentucky Bourbon Distillers, LTD. Even Kulsveen continues to operate at the facility to this day. Notes:

Koval is the first boutique distillery located in Chicago. Its founders, Robert and Sonat Birnecker, gave up academic careers to bring the distilling traditions and techniques of Rober’s Austrian grandfather to America. Certified both organic and kosher, Koval holds itself to the highest standards of purity and craftsmanship. Koval avoids the common industry practice of outsourcing the production of neutral grain spirits for rectification, making all of its products from scratch. Each step of the distilling process, from the ‘mashing’ to the bottling is carefully monitored to insure that only the best spirit reaches your lips. Koval is dedicated to using organic raw ingredients because we want to support agricultural practices that are sustainable and respectful of the soil. Choosing only the best organic ingredients is the first step in making the best spirits possible. Adhering to kosher standards is another way we maintain strict levels of purity and quality control. We also like to think that it makes us a bit more spirit-ual. Notes:

We are Gardens of Goodness LLC, a small antique apple orchard near McFarland. We have been growing apples for twenty two years. We produce juice and are expanding into cider. While many people call juice “cider,” it’s really 6% or so alcohol - hence “hard” cider. Our brandy, Esprit de Pomme, pronounced like a Brit’s mother, is made with a blend from our cider apples whose parentage can be traced back several hundred years to England and France. Even after two iterations, crisp fresh juice, fermented cider, and finally distillation and oak aging, our brandy retains an essence of those apples, clearly identifiable by a discerning palate. ■

Lo Artisan Distillery, LLC is a small family-run distillery that distills rice spirits. We are a Genuine Handmade artisan distillery that manufacture and bottle our traditional Hmong rice whiskey also known as Rice Spirits. We are located in the southern part of Door County, Wisconsin at 1607 S. Stevenson Pier Rd, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Our brand, “Yerlo” and “Yerlo Reserve” is a crystal clear quality rice grain spirit brand with a content of 120 and 130 alcohol proof and is ready to be brought out to the open market for the first time. We manufacture, distill, bottle, label, package, and sell all finished goods from our distillery located in the Township of Brussels, Wisconsin. We are the only distillery of its kind in the USA to be producing such a special rice spirit drink that is smooth and flavorful without any artificial flavors or colors added. The traditional process has been passed down from generation to generation to preserve the timeless flavors and aroma of “Yerlo.” Until now, there has not been an opportunity to share our traditional product with the open market. Lo Artisan Distillery, LLC is unlike any other wineries, breweries or distilleries. “Yerlo” is the ONLY rice spirit of its kind to hit the liquor industry and we want to be the first to introduce our unique traditional flavored rice spirit to our customers. We produce liquors hand crafted slow and pure. Born from the finest grains, harvested just up the hill from the distillery. It’s a spirit born of land and water that draws each of us curiously back to a different era. Made for you, not for for the masses. Mississippi River Distilling Company started in 2010 after two brothers decided to take a chance on a dream. What started as a crazy idea, grew into an opportunity to create something that these parts hadn’t seen since prohibition. A chance to create truly home grown, handmade spirits. If you appreciate the fine quality that only comes from the freshest ingredients. If you believe in honest hard work and the integrity of the family farm. If you know that a commitment to quality takes some extra time. If you’re looking to experience pleasure far beyond taste in the bottom of your glass. You’ve come to the right place. We’re a family owned and operated company. We believe in stewardship of our land and water. We know that the family farm is an important part of our community and our culture here. And we believe in quality above all else. We hope you’ll appreciate the hard work that each hand signed bottle represents. We hope you’ll share some with your friends, then come to LeClaire and say hello so we can show you what makes us so proud about the wonderful place we call home. Notes:

Founded in 1996, NHBC has grown from a scrappy two-man start-up to a thriving regional craft brewery and artisan distillery. From 2005-2010, all of our spirits were distilled at our brewpub in Holland, Michigan. In response to our considerable growth, we opened the new production distillery in February of 2011. The new facility will include our “new 600-gallon prohibition-era pot still, as well as a bonded maturation room of more than 6500 square feet. In addition to a small amount of distributed spirits, those made here will be special small batches that rarely see their way outside of the friendly confines of our pub. New Holland Artisan Spirits is dedicated to discovering artful nuances in the distilling process while delivering unique and interesting spirits in their most tasteful form. We are proud to share our craft with you. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Notes:

Like the micro breweries and small wineries that have come before, a small group of artisanal distillers are redefining the spirit world by introducing new and amazing products. As the first artisanal distillery in the Chicago area (and in Illinois,) we are producing unique spirits that provide modern connoisseurs with an unparalleled taste experience. We are a very small operation - just the two of us and one part-time employee, along with our still, Ethel. Our small size allows us to bring a discriminating personal touch and hands-on craftsmanship to everything we make. We challenge the status quo by providing our discerning customers world-class spirits, produced locally. Distilling spirits is far more than a scientific process - it is an art form. Derek, our master distiller, starts with the equivalent of a blank canvas. He then selects from a palette of fruits and exotic botanicals to create one-of-a kind spirits that reflect the unique flavors of the ingredients and express his personal passion and energy. Derek produces our spirits in small, carefully hand-crafted batches. Though each product has its own distinct personality and character, all North Shore spirits are created with the same purpose in mind - to create an elegant and superior spirit that is not only pleasant and enjoyable, but also provides a level of satisfaction that compares to drinking an incredible wine or the finest scotch. Located in Coleman, Wisconsin, we operate under the assumption that today’s consumer is health conscious and wants clean tasting spirits with little in the way of off flavors or burn. Congeners in alcohol produce character and a sad feeling in the morning. Ethanol is what makes us happy and by refining our rum through two careful distillations, little is left in the way of congeners. We take great strides to produce our rums’ character through flavoring. Heath Rum tastes like candy; it’s sweet, smooth, and has a toffee flavor. It’s good straight up or on the rocks, but also mixes well. The North Woods Distillery grows Chocolat Mint, a variety of peppermint, naturally which is then distilled to make the flavoring. Mint is highlighted with a subtle chocolate flavor. Chocolat Mint Rum is great on the rocks and mixes well. Notes:

Old Sugar Factory Honey Liqueur is made almost entirely from Midwestern products. Cane and Abe Freshwater Rum is now available. It’s aged in small, charred American Oak barrels for several months, and is tasting great. It is made from cane sugar grown in Hawaii and Louisiana. The charred barrels give the rum a roasted taste similar to bourbon, but without the grainy texture. Wait ‘til you try it. You might just give up whiskey. Notes:

Crafting our Tennessee whiskey and rum products is a hands-on process that is a delicate mix of science and art. There are many benefits to artisan distilling in small batches. We craft our spirits in small batches so we have complete control over each and every bottle of Prichard’s that leaves our distillery. Fermentation, distilling, aging, blending and bottling are all completed under the direct supervision of a master distiller. This type of oversight can only be maintained in small batches. It allows us to deliver the perfect flavors for our whiskeys and rums. Our fine spirits are an accurate recreation of America’s first distilled beverages. Our rums are made from sweet American molasses from the plantations of Louisiana and our whiskeys are not unlike those produced by Benjamin Prichard in Davidson County, Tennessee way back in the early 1800’s. Distilled in traditional copper pot stills using the techniques of the master distillers from a time long ago, Prichard’s American Spirits are most certainly nothing like the commercially produced spirits we have come to know today. Our first products include Water Tower White Lightning™, our unaged corn whiskey distilled from corn mash with malted barley and rye, then bottled without aging; and Old No. 176™ gin, our handcrafted version of “railroad” gin, distilled from the same corn mash we use to make our corn whiskey, flavored with juniper and other spices. Ransom Wines & Spirits American Craft Distiller (Silver Balloon)

- Special Guests -

Adam Kindwall Joe Tachovsky www.rootstockwineco.com www.ransomspirits.com

Ransom is an artisan producer of small batch organic wines and spirits from Oregon grapes. Started with a small life savings and a fistful of credit cards, the Ransom Project was launched in 1997, with the distillery making small amounts of grappa, eau d’vie, and brandy. Gin and whiskey were added to the lineup in 2007. With a dream and no money we started Local Wine and Spirits the old fashioned way: begged, borrowed, and stole till we could get our wings under us and in 2002 we released our first wine, Jigsaw pinot noir. With the help of a few friends we expanded our wine production to the Eastern Washington high desert. From there we went south to the volcanic soils and jagged mountains of Northern California. Then a few years later we began producing craft spirits with Tad Seestedt in the Willamette Valley, Oregon, USA. Our goal was simple: make fantastic wines, representative of place and vintage and make craft spirits in the ethos of 19th century American distilling. We respect the history and the lessons we’ve learned about where and what to grow in order to maximize quality. We choose sites where grape varieties over-perform, consistent with soil and climate and make delicious wines. Representing in our hearts a particular place, a particular time, our wines are made by real people without the aid of computers or robots. Our spirits are meticulously distilled in a gorgeous 300 gallon Cognac copper pot. Pot distilling leaves abundant silky texture in all of our spirits as well as robust aromatics in our gins and whiskeys. Taking a 19th century approach on how spirits were crafted in America gives us a unique position in the craft spirits world: revitalization of the golden era of spirits and cocktails. Local’s spirits represent the heart of American distilling where we’ve rediscovered the old and made it new again. Time honored recipes and techniques never go out of fashion.

Reservoir Distillery embraces the principles of a traditional Southern handcrafted whiskey. Our grain is locally sourced and ground on site for cooking and fermentation, and our mash is distilled twice and aged in New American Oak barrels. Each batch, from our Southern Bourbon, a spicier cousin to Bourbon in a Rye Whiskey, to our pioneering true Wheat whiskey, is tasted regularly until it is deemed perfect for our discerning customers. Every bottle is carefully hand filled, waxed, and signed by the distillers to demonstrate our commitment to authenticity and accountability. Reservoir Distillery bottles at 100 proof because the flavor of high quality spirits transition relative to proof and ambient temperature, and we know that our adventurous customers enjoy our products everywhere from ski slopes to sand dunes. Founders David Cuttino and James Carpenter, childhood friends from Richmond, Virginia, have finally given the Commonwealth a classic quality Bourbon of its own. Notes:

Jules and Joe Legate have a special connection to Montana, alpine herbs, the history of fine cocktails and bringing it all together in handcrafted artisan spirits. The husband & wife team landed in Northwest Montana 20 years ago when Joe’s profession as a college teacher in theatre brought them to a small community college nestled in the Northern Rockies. “A couple of years ago, I watched my savings get slammed in the market. One day, I turned to Jules and reasoned that we could do a better job with our money than our brokers. Cash it in and roll the dice on something we love.” They poured over rare manuscripts and recipes, tasting scores of the best absinthe Europe could offer and savoring the rare opportunity to drink absinthe made before the US ban in 1912 (lifted in 2007.) After hundreds of experiments, Joe and Jules offer classic French Extrait d’Absinthe Verte and Swiss Blanche absinthes, born in the Franco-Swiss Alps over 200 years ago, reborn in the Rocky Mountains. Expanding their interest and palates into other rare and fine herbal spirits led the Legates down the road of crafting a true American Dry Gin. They began searching for a delicate gin that still balanced the herbs. Silvertip was created to work well in classic gin cocktails but robust enough to serve on the rocks with a twist. Notes:

Established in 2003, Rogue Spirits creates award winning multi-ingredient small batch spirits, artisan distilled in traditional handcrafted copper pot stills. No chemicals, additives, or preservatives are used. Rogue is a small revolution, which expresses itself through handcrafted Ales, Porters, Stouts, Lagers, and Spirits, and this is the way we conduct our business. The spirit of the Rogue brand, even the name, suggests doing things differently. A desire and a willingness to change the status quo. A Rogue Ale, Porter, Stout, Lager or Spirit is crafted to give it unique character, innovative in its makeup and brewing, a process that has not compromised quality. We believe if a Rogue Ale, Porter, Stout, Lager or Spirit cannot be all of these things, it should not be made at all. Notes:

We always knew we could make pretty great vodka, but the vodka we wanted to make, we couldn’t afford to sell for $20 a bottle. When Grey Goose and Belvedere started selling a ton of vodka at $30 a bottle, we thought, let’s give it a try. This was 2001. We were two tiny companies, handmaking exquisite brandies and liqueurs in California. Connoisseurs think these brandies are absolutely fabulous, for good reasons: in California, we had access to wonderful fruit and grapes, as well as sophisticated winemaking equipment. Best of all we were free to innovate but we also had tiny old-fashioned pot stills and did our work informed by centuries of European distillation methods. We have a lot of experience making really good products out of genuine ingredients. Jorg Rupf, who spent months developing the actual vodkas, is one of the world’s most inventive distillers. But there was another issue - how to exist in the vodka market. A pot still vodka from real fruit costs a lot to make, which meant we wouldn’t be able to run advertisements in magazines or cut deals to get displays in stores. But, we thought, people know a lot more than they used to about alcohol, and they are ready for something real. Notes:

Steve, Molly, & Jonathan Neukomm (314) 231-2537 1727 Park Ave. St. Louis, MO 63104 squareonebrewery.com

Square One Brewery & Distillery was the first craft distillery in Missouri. We starting out with just a few spirits we made serving them across the bar, and within a year had expanded into over 15 different products that we serve today. We started distributing five of our products two years ago which are JJ Neukomm Malt Whiskey, Vermont Night whiskey liqueur, Island Time Rum, Regatta Bay Gin, and Agave Blue. We approach all of our products with the same vision we do for our beers: they are made with passion, attention to detail, and a taste you’ll not find in any other spirit on the market. Sip, savor, and enjoy. I hope you like what we’ve done—Steve Notes:

Michael Killmer (National Brand Manager) (617) 233-4893 206 East 3rd Street Templeton, IA 51463 templetonrye.com

When Prohibition outlawed the manufacture and sale of alcoholic beverages in 1920, many enterprising residents of a small town in Iowa chose to become outlaws - producing a high caliber and much sought-after whiskey known as Templeton Rye. Based on its extremely smooth finish, the American rye whiskey earned the nickname of “The Good Stuff’ and quickly brought a certain degree of fame to the doorsteps of Templeton. Over the course of its storied history, Templeton Rye became Al Capone’s whiskey of choice, quickly finding its way to the center of his bootlegging empire. Hundreds of kegs per month were supplied to Capone’s gang who in turn filled the demand of speakeasies throughout Chicago, New York, and as far west as San Francisco. Although most American whiskeys ceased production after prohibition ended, Templeton Rye continued to be produced illegally in small quantities for loyal patrons. More than eighty-five years later, the infamous small batch rye whiskey finally returned - made available legally for the first time ever in 2006. Notes:

Christopher Cassidy (Tito’s Vodka) Austin, TX titos-vodka.com

Tito’s Handmade Vodka is produced in Austin at Texas’ first and oldest legal distillery. It’s made in small batches in an old fashioned pot still by Tito Beveridge (actual name,) a 46 year old Geologist, and distilled six times. Tito’s Handmade Vodka is designed to be savored by spirit connoisseurs and everyday drinkers alike. It is microdistilled in an old-fashioned pot still, just like fine single malt scotches and high-end French cognacs. This time-honored method of distillation requires more skill and effort than modern column stills, but it’s well worth it. Our handcrafted technique offers more control over the distillation process, resulting in a spectacularly clean product of incomparable excellence. Only the heart of the run, “the nectar” is taken, leaving behind residual higher and lower alcohols. The vodka is cleansed of phenols, esters, congeners and organic acids by filtering it through the finest activated carbon available. Notes:

The Missouri Tavern, home of Travis Hasse’s Original Pie Liqueurs, is located in the town of Springfield just outside Madison, Wisconsin. The people around here are warm, friendly, and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. One thing the Missouri Tavern is famous for is an alcohol beverage called Apple Pie Liqueur. My father, Gene Hasse, gave me his homemade recipe for Apple Pie Liqueur. I started making it and served it to patrons at the Missouri Tavern. I received so many requests from people wanting to buy a bottle of Apple Pie Liqueur that I decided to share my family’s homemade recipe with everyone. It took me a while to figure it all out, but finally I launched Travis Hasse’s Original Apple Pie Liqueur in September of 2008. Currently, it is available in over 25 states and Canada with more markets opening every day. With the success of Apple Pie Liqueur and requests for additional flavors coming in every day, for my one year anniversary I launched a sister brand, Travis Hasse’s Original Cherry Pie Liqueur. Eddie Russell

(Associate Master Distiller) (502) 839-2182 1535 Tyrone Rd. Lawrenceburg, KY 40302 wildturkeybourbon.com

The Ripy brothers built a distillery near Lawrenceburg in 1869 and had consolidated the current facility by 1905 and resumed distilling after Prohibition. The Ripy’s were bought out in 1952 by the Gould Brothers. In turn the distillery was bought by Pernod Ricard in 1980. On April 8, 2009, the Campari Group announced the acquisition of the brand and of the distillery from Pernod Ricard. Distillery executive Thomas McCarthy took some warehouse samples on a wild turkey hunting trip in 1940. The next year his friends asked him for “some of that wild turkey whiskey,” and a brand was born. The 80 proof version was introduced in 1974. Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit is a single barrel version at 101 proof, the 10 year old named for Master Distiller Jimmy “The Muscle” Russell is 90 proof, and the Rare Breed is a blend of 6, 8, and 12-year-old stocks at 108.4 barrel proof. One reviewer from Whisky Magazine, proclaimed that Wild Turkey 101 is, “A Clint Eastwood of whiskeys.” It also earned an “Editor’s Choice” award from the same publication. The Wild Turkey brand has also been extended to a 101 proof rye whiskey, made from a mash of roughly 65% rye, 23% corn and 12% barley, and to a honey liqueur. Notes:

Nick Quint

(Owner / Master Distiller) (608) 275-1050 3118 Kingsley Way Madison, WI 53713 yaharabay.com

From the shores of Yahara Bay to the shores of Lake Superior, we search the State to find grains, fruits, and herbs cultivated by local growers to make our premium spirits. All of our products are hand-crafted in small batches creating a world-class taste with local roots. Proprietor and Chief Distiller, Nick Quint, is a man dedicated to his passion - that of crafting fine spirits from the best products Wisconsin has to offer. Coming out of retirement to pursue this vision, Nick studied at Michigan State to learn the art of the still (which, by the way, came from Germany and was assembled piece by piece with his own two hands.) Yahara Bay products are handcrafted in small batches using Wisconsin-grown ingredients, creating a worldclass product with local roots. We strive to support Wisconsin farmers and merchants to develop and produce our premium spirits and liquers. Our apples come from the south west, cranberries from the north east, sorghum from the south, and herbs and spices from throughout Wisconsin. Savor the flavors of Wisconsin in each one of our fine products. Notes:
