The spa design is inspired by the local Tunisian and Mediterranean culture

Draw Link Group completes Mediterranean-themed Radisson in Tunisia Draw Link Group (DLG) recently completed the interior design work at the new Radisson Blu Resort & Spa in Sousse, Tunisia. DLG was conferred the interior design contract for the new hotel comprising of 224 spacious rooms, four meeting rooms, a ballroom, and executive lounge, two outdoor swimming pools, a gym, and a full wellness spa. Speaking of the design inspiration for the décor, Daousser Chennoufi, CEO, DLG, said: “The hotel’s location gave us a great starting point. Located on the coastal city of Sousse which is known as the ‘coast’s pearl’ in Tunisia, we knew that incorporating a marine design aesthetic would be essential for the hotel’s branding, and would echo the freshness of the sea”. However, DLG also concentrated on building an authentic feel to the interior by utilising design concepts from local Tunisian culture and contemporary Mediterranean design. “The key aspect of the design ideas worked well together because of the hotel’s location and international branding. We used sea blue hues to continuously link and remind guests of the sea,” explained Chennoufi. The use of decorative objects, furniture,

materials, and colours were instrumental in the development of a marine atmosphere in the hotel’s lobby, lobby lounge, bar, all day dining, ballroom and function rooms, guestrooms and suites. For the outdoor design and pool areas, DLG added on elements to existing landscaping to infuse the entire setting with a fresh Mediterranean feel.

International events company, dmg events Middle East, Asia & Africa, has acquired boutique business forum organiser Atticus Events. Focused specifically on the interior design of luxury hotels, HI Design organises specialist business meetings between key buyers from currently active hotel projects and a curated selection of International FF&E suppliers. With each edition held in a different five star hotel location, HI Design events are currently running annually in Europe, Asia and MEA. “The HI Design portfolio dovetails perfectly with the work our teams do with INDEX and the growing selection of Hotel Shows,” explained Matt Denton, president, dmg events Middle East, Asia & Africa. “The acquisition of HI Design gives us another way to serve our market, bringing suppliers together with buyers from four and five-star hotel projects in a well-controlled atmosphere primed for doing good business.” Distinct features of the HI Design events include the direct contact of the pre-arranged one-on-one meetings and a level playing field created for all suppliers. These features are combined with a carefully managed delegate list that balances the numbers between supplier companies and buyer companies.

The dome will incorporate a huge immersive projection experience that can also be viewed from the sky above

Cimolai Rimond wins the Expo 2020 Al Wasl Plaza dome project Abu Dhabi-based Cimolai Rimond Middle East General Contracting has been awarded a contract to provide steel work for the intricate domed trellis of Expo 2020 Dubai’s central Al Wasl Plaza. A UAE-Italian joint venture, Cimolai Rimond said its steel work will provide the trellis structure for the 67.5-m tall, 130m-wide dome that will become an inspiring piece of architecture at the heart of Expo. When finished, the structure will include 13,600m of intricate steel work and weigh 2,265 tonnes, equivalent to 500 elephants, with an enclosed space of 724,000m3 – the same volume as 290 Olympic-sized swimming pools. Al Wasl Plaza will be a central space of

the 4.38-sq-km site and will make a dramatic impression on the millions of people visiting Expo 2020 from around the world, said the company in a statement. Ahmed Al Khatib, vice president of real estate and delivery at Expo 2020 Dubai, said: "Al Wasl Plaza will be an iconic central point of Expo 2020 Dubai. We are glad to be working with Cimolai Rimond Middle East, which has a strong track record, including working on the UAE National Pavilion at the 2015 World Expo in Milan." "This is the latest construction contract to be awarded this year. Work on Expo 2020 is well on track and we are making great progress. We will be awarding the final construction

contract for Al Wasl Plaza in the first quarter of next year," stated Al Khatib. "I am really excited at seeing this colossal dome rise and take shape. The size of the structure is huge – easily big enough to accommodate an Emirates A380 aircraft, with a surface area the same as almost five football pitches," he noted. "It’s going to be an incredible sight at the heart of the Expo 2020, and a major attraction for District 2020 – our legacy development," he added. CEO Giuseppe Antonio Chiarandá said: "We are very proud to be working with Expo 2020 Dubai on such a prestigious project. We are bringing years of experience in advanced design and production of structural steel work to bear on this task."

Roberto Cavalli to design the interiors of residential tower in Dubai

The interiors of the lavish 34-storey waterfront skyscraper, will offer its residents an experience similar to the rustic streets of Florence

10 |

January 2018

A new luxury tower in Dubai named “I Love Florence” will be the first in the world to carry the “Roberto Cavalli” brand, bringing the glitz and glamour of runway to private homes. For the first time, Roberto Cavalli designs the interiors of an iconic residential tower with a range of exquisite home accessories and ornate fittings from Cavalli interiors. Work on the AED800mn “I Love Florence” tower, developed by Dar Al Arkan, the largest listed real estate developer in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and located on Dubai Water Canal in the Business Bay area, will commence in January 2018. Gian Giacomo Ferraris, chief executive officer of Roberto Cavalli, said: “I see a strong correlation between Florence and Dubai, with both cities projecting elegance, art and design in everything they do, each in its own way. The new tower will embody Roberto Cavalli’s

passion for beauty, design and celebration of Italian craftsmanship. It will encapsulate the high-end luxury our fashion house has been famed for. The rich interiors of Roberto Cavalli will project bespoke living spaces adding depth, character and style.” Yousef Bin Abdullah Al Shelash, chairman of Dar Al Arkan, shared: “When we set out to draw our vision to become leaders in global real estate development, we decided to only settle for the best, hence our choice of Dubai Canal as a location, and the epitome of Italian luxury, Roberto Cavalli, to conceptualise and create truly outstanding living spaces, not only in the residential units, but across the tower’s amenities, including the lobbies, gym, swimming pool, yoga area, outdoor training area, and hallways. Residents and visitors will experience a true Florentine feeling.”

55,000 new homes to push the $17.7bn GCC interior fit-out sector The fit-out sector would experience a great boom as Dubai International Furniture Accessories Components (DIFAC), scheduled to take place in Dubai from March 12-14, 2018 will create business opportunities. The addition of 55,000 new housing units in Dubai in 2017-18 will boost the region’s $17.7bn fit-out sector as thousands of families move into their freehold homes that require furniture, and household items as well as interior décor

products. A total of 25,000 residential units are expected to be delivered in Dubai this year and a further 30,000 in 2018, according to Jones Lang LaSalle, a global real estate advisory. Dubai will see a further 163,840 properties being built over the next five years from 387 projects. The year after could see 19,850 units and 17,754 further homes in 2020. So far in 2017, Dubai has seen the launch of 90 projects consisting of 36,556 units.

According to Ventures Middle East research, interior-based design and fit-out spend in the GCC has risen from $15.5 bn in 2016 to $17.7bn this year.

INDEX to host ‘Ventura Dubai’ for the first time in the Middle East One of the international design world’s most influential and ground-breaking exhibitions has chosen Dubai’s burgeoning design scene for their first foray into the Middle East. ‘Ventura Dubai’ will be the next Ventura Project curated by Organisation in Design. Now in its 28th year, INDEX takes place March 26-29, 2018 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Comprising no less than 45 of Europe’s most exciting up-and-coming and renowned designers, Dubai will follow global design capitals Milan, New York, Berlin and London in being selected to host the muchacclaimed Ventura brand, a staple at many of the world’s biggest interiors events, with INDEX chosen specifically for its far-reaching Middle Eastern audience. Founder and curator of Organisation in Design, Margriet Vollenberg, said: “We are thrilled to have our first Ventura Dubai exhibition in 2018. I’ve known INDEX for a long time and love how the show connects the world with the Middle East design community. The fact that INDEX thinks about making the event appeal to an audience well beyond their own borders really speaks to me.” As a graduated designer, but most of all an

Margriet Vollenberg

entrepreneur, Vollenberg is always curious about entering new markets. She continued: “What is particularly interesting for us is the fact that INDEX explicitly asked for high-quality products to be presented at the fair through Ventura Dubai. Answering to this need, we are determined to bring innovative design projects with a particular focus on the signature, quality, and content to INDEX 2018.” Event director Samantha Kane-Macdonald commented: “Organisation in Design’s Ventura Projects has led the way in bringing exceptional, untapped European design to the forefront of the

international market for almost a decade. The Ventura Projects in Milan have set the standard during the city’s design season, with their New York, Berlin and London outings again laying the benchmark for forward-thinking design and innovation. To be able to play host to their first Middle Eastern venture is a huge honour for INDEX, and equally as exciting.”

Design trends to watch for in 2018! Design trends that will rule and create a statement for creative lifestyle spaces

I

f you have made design resolutions for the New Year, then read on! The last year was more about minimalistic style with personal design preferences. So will we follow the same old trends? What colours, patterns, and designs will take the lead in 2018? Design Middle East spoke to the best in design business— Medy Navani, founder and CEO of Design Haus Medy; Daousser Chennoufi, CEO, Draw Link Group; Monika Janczura, senior interior designer from EDGE; and Lee Morris design director - head of architecture at Atkins. Here, are their design predictions for 2018:

COVER STORY

When I am not working, I love spending time with my sons.

“Wallpaper is making a comeback.”

Medy Navani, founder and CEO of Design Haus Medy

Trends to follow 1. Wallpaper is making a comeback. Bright and patterns are in. We're using wallpaper more than ever before, and not just limiting it to the four walls either. No longer reserved for just a feature wall, we use wallpaper to express our individuality and personality, whether that's through clashing wallpaper or large-scale patterns and murals. 2. Sinks with drama are right on trend - concrete, stone, copper or granite to be in fashion in 2018. Today's sinks are clever, functional works of art. An example would be the vessel sink, which breaks the traditional rules of choosing bathroom fixtures that are all in the same colour family and made from the same material. 3. Warm Neutrals are in. In 2018, we will see the

18 |

January 2018

application of greys with rich, earthy shades of camel, rust, tobacco, brown-blacks, delicious red, and burnt yellow. The Nordic "hygge" style will continue to be a focus; this is a simple, homely look that focuses on earth shades and natural materials such as linen, wool, wood, ore and stone. 4. White kitchen accessories and marble are out, and earth-toned shades, stonework and concrete accents are in. Concrete has always been a popular material choice for homemakers. 5. Colour is King! Bright, bold, saturated and strong, colours will be used in 2018 instead of pastels. Expect to see lashings of canary yellow, lime green, citrus orange, peacock blue and fuchsia pink. These strong tones also tap into a trend inspired by electro digital colours –

intense, high-octane colours that come at us in playful advertising and over the Wi-Fi waves.

Most revolutionary design! The grand mosque in Abu Dhabi, it's just a magnificent place. I was always a big admirer of great religious architecture. From the glorious mosques in the Arab world to the impressive churches in Europe to the mystique temples in Asia.

Exciting projects in New Year We are currently working on some very interesting projects on a big scale, including a zero-emission tower for the Dubai Government. Further to this, we have two research and innovation centres, a luxury villa project at the beach, and a low-cost housing project in Africa.

www.design-middleeast.com

“Green and yellow shades are my favourites which goes well with minimalistic and elegant interior mode. Monika Janczura, senior interior designer from EDGE

Trends to follow The interior material trends for the next season are real and thick, with distinct features as well as natural and bright colour accents. Green and yellow shades are my favourites which goes well with minimalistic and elegant interior mode. I also recommend a subtle connection of natural themes reflected in fabrics and decorations made of ceramic and metals.

Most revolutionary design! I love Madinat Jumeirah Hotel as well as Bab alShams Resort. The combination of the materials used there, the dialogue with the surrounding nature and the context of the place, various lighting, and design connectivity make me return gladly to these places as sources of local inspiration and relaxation at a high level.

Exciting projects in New Year We are working on a five star hotel in Ethiopia and Dubai, a residential tower in Dubai, masterplan development in the UAE, and private high-end interior projects. Every time when we are starting a new project, I am excited. The new challenges and design adventure give me always drive for deeper development.

I take my time off to enjoy horse-riding at the nearby equestrian club. January 2018

COVER STORY

“Sustainable designs would be at the forefront.” Daousser Chennoufi, CEO, Draw Link Group

Trends to follow 1. Sustainable designs would be at the forefront this year. The eco-friendly design will be in huge demand, as they use environmentally friendly products to create an ambience and atmosphere close to nature or as natural as possible. To achieve this effect, materials such as wood, and shades of green are utilised. 2. Another trend is intelligent design, which uses technology and automated systems. This trend has been pervasive across five-star hotels and now we are seeing it in high-end residential projects too. 3. Personalisation is a big trend, especially across hospitality projects. The more personalisation is offered, the more the guest would feel like they are home-away-from-home. Timeless trends such as contemporary and classic design remain important considerations across our projects.

Most revolutionary technology! The most important technology that is revolutionising design is the use of 3Ddesign. Its uses are increasing daily from facades to decorations and literally everywhere else.

Exciting projects in New Year The most exciting project in 2018 includes the Rosemount Hotel and Residences by Hilton in Dubai. The entire project will add more than 600 keys to Dubai’s hospitality sector and will be operated by Curio Collection. It will be the firstof-its-kind, super-luxury urban resort located on Sheikh Zayed Road in the Al Thanyah district. Value at an estimated $550mn, the Rosemount Hotel and Residences will be the first building on earth with its own rainforest: a 6868sqm (approx.) jungle complete with a splash pool and café. The supersize terrarium will use only recycled water collected from condensation and will feature a novel artificial beach.

20 |

January 2018

I travel to various parts of the world to learn about new cultures, which then act as a source inspiration for my work. www.design-middleeast.com

“We will see the growth of more mid-price range apartments.”

Lee Morris design director - head of architecture at Atkins

Trends to follow Social economics are demanding the reassessment of levels of luxury that we currently see in the design. We will see the growth of more mid-price range apartments for example at Dubai South where overall footprints are reducing and development density is increasing to meet the economic demands. We will continue to see the rise of more affordable, mid-range, low-rise community districts.

Most revolutionary design! Louvre Abu Dhabi, it’s mind-blowing. A brilliant, extraordinary yet simple feast of visual stimulation.

Exciting projects in New Year Without a doubt, it must be King Abdul Aziz Road (KAAR) in KSA. Atkins has master planned the entire development over the last eight years and are now designing one of the key gateway buildings to the development and two hotels. We have a huge responsibility to be at the front end of a mindset change, to design something that is both contemporary and speaks to the Saudi Vision 2030 transformation programme but also respects the country’s historic architecture and Islamic heritage. The transformation of KSA is going to be a momentous time in history. With this project, we have the opportunity to lay down a new blueprint for an architectural style and tone going forward.

When I am not admiring art, you will find me playing tennis, diving or skiing.

Adaptability in

security designs

Evan Kerr, senior design consultant, Restrata tells how one needs to update the security designs in the ever-changing dynamic environment

22 |

January 2018

O

ften as security professionals, we can get caught up in addressing the design challenge presented to us, and we don’t consider the growth and change of both security system design, and the broader environment in which it resides. When examining the application of security treatments as part of the design and construction of a new building, or the retrofitting of an existing facility, there is a tendency focus on the problems in front of us, and we may not consider those that may occur down the line. Future-proofing in security design is not a new concept, as providing a nominal quantity of spare capacity is standard practice for most designers, and commonly requested by end users. This will usually take the form of additional bandwidth and storage capacity, extra ports on a network

www.design-middleeast.com

Evan Kerr

switch, or similar measures in the application of technology that can be quantified as a percentage of the overall system capacity. The next step is to begin looking at the environment we are designing for as constantly changing and evolving. Drawings are static and the environment is dynamic. While attempting to plan for future transformations of an existing environment may veer into the realm of crystal ball gazing, we can limit our adaptability planning to what is possible and reasonable. This could take the form of reviewing the masterplan for a developing community, or considering emergent technologies that may provide workarounds for proposed security treatments (e.g. the recent use of recreation aerial drones to bypass perimeter security fences). The most obvious example of a failure to plan

for the changing nature of a site is the conflict between an outdoor camera’s field of view, and the tree the landscape designer planted a number of years ago. As the tree grows taller, it gradually blocks more and more of the camera’s field of view. This common scenario is emblematic of the broader issue; how will the security design, being implemented now, adapt to the changes that occur in the surrounding environment in five or 10 years’ time? Regular review and refitting of security measures may be one solution, but with significant ongoing costs attached. Alternatively, as part of the design process, include a review of how the operational, built, and natural environments may change over time, and how a security design can change with them. Consider how an adversary might attempt to bypass the proposed security measures and how this can be countered, or the security system reconfigured to if this scenario occurs. Sustainability as a theme is already a focus for the Dubai government and those engaged

in the design and development of the city’s built environment. In 2016, the Dubai Municipality announced the Green Building Rating System, which aims to rate new buildings based on the implementation of green building standards. Under the scheme, buildings that do not meet the requirements to achieve the minimum bronze rating are not given permits. The director general of Dubai Municipality, Hussain Nasser Lootah, explained that the initiative is designed to achieve high performance of buildings to promote human and environmental health by strengthening the planning, design, implementation, and operation phases of buildings. The concept aims to achieve a smart, sustainable city status for Dubai by 2021. Security professionals can and must find ways to support the drive for sustainability within our own security designs. By considering the adaptability of designs to respond to the everchanging world around us, we create more resilient solutions that can better weather the tests of time.

INTERVIEW

Attention to detail

Designer Olivier Butcher talks about his design philosophy, materials, and the emerging trends for the coming years. His collection Olivier B. is available at Chattels & More in Dubai

24 |

January 2018

Olivier Butcher

www.design-middleeast.com

What are the distinguishing characteristics of your design? Oliver B.’s style is characterised by the union of harmonic design and distinctive high-value raw materials. Oliver B. has two product ranges, which are ‘Casa’ and ‘Wild’. Casa range combines elegance with innovation in the look, and Wild range has a more natural and substantial style.

What’s your design inspiration? Inspiration can be drawn from everywhere and it is very important to pay attention to all the “signs” that can show an opportunity. Sometimes, it stems from the suggestion of a customer, colleague, supplier or a friend. Other times, it comes from a new raw material, a new production technology or even a new shape that can be creatively used somewhere you had not thought of before.

Describe your product range?

grains. Finally, there is polyurethane, which allows us to create every kind of shape we imagine. As for the ‘Wild’ range, Buffalo hand-painted leather has always been something very important for us. We recently added one more leather category named A-leather that is very soft aniline leather.

What are your thoughts on the UAE market for home décor? UAE is a very interesting market for home dècor, and I feel there is a high emphasis on uniqueness and details. There is a high demand for excellence and design from customers who are accustomed to high-level aesthetic and quality performance on items. From our side, this is a motivating factor to keep on investing in designs and details.

What attracted you to partner with Chattels & More?

Generally speaking, we are focused on dining rooms and our most important products are tables, chairs, cabinets, and accessories. We also have some bedroom products, which are beds or chests. We have the Casa and Wild ranges within those lines.

Oliver B. has a long story with I.D. Dubai group, which has always been a loyal and precious partner. We have always been excited to be part of Chattles & More project which has a very interesting philosophy, an amazing showroom and is for sure the best showcase possible of Oliver B’s products in the UAE.

TIPS & TRICKS

Maintenance of

carpets

C

arpets are warm and welcoming. This humble piece of design accessory has got a seal of approval from everyone who has a knack for design and decor. But carpets require little extra care and attention as well, they can be cleaned and repaired almost infinitely and should last a lifetime. Christopher Sharp, founder, The Rug Company tells how to treat everyday stains, spillages, fluff, loose threads, and more.

Water-based stains such as tea, coffee or juice These must be blotted up preferably before it dries out. Use a clean absorbent material such as a paper towel or tissue to soak up the excess moisture. When it has dried out, leave it until you are ready to have your rug professionally cleaned, when the stain can be treated and then removed by a handwoven rug specialist.

Vacuum to reduce the fluff New rugs can shed a bit of fluff, which is just excess

32 |

January 2018

Christopher Sharp

fibres that were not properly incorporated into the yarn during spinning. This is normal and is not a sign that your rug is falling apart! It is best to vacuum a rug often at first - after some time, the fluffing will lessen and eventually cease.

Abrash gives natural feel Yarn prepared by hand is not completely uniform in colour or thickness. When this yarn is dyed, it does not take the colour evenly, and these inconsistencies produce a subtle stripe effect in the finished rug called ‘abrash’. This is a desirable feature of hand-knotted rugs, imparting them with life and character. Rugs made without abrash appear and look machine made.

Turn rugs to prevent fading There are no dyes that are completely ‘photo stable’
or impervious to fading in sunlight. Over time, any material left in strong sunlight will fade. Traditionally, the best way to mitigate this effect is to turn a rug from time to time so that at least any fade is even.

Dealing with rugs with loose threads When a rug is hand-knotted on the loom, the initial pile is significantly longer, before being sheared down to the desired height. Occasionally some longer threads are not cut and become embedded in the pile. Over time, these threads can protrude and should be carefully cut with sharp scissors. It is also possible that an individual knot has missed the warp or weft and therefore comes undone, this also creates a loose thread and in this instance, it is best to gently pull it out. As each knot is separate, the rug will not unravel, and the surrounding knots will simply fill in space.

Outdoor seating on the expansive open terrace offers you twinkling overhead lights and an unparalleled view of the Burj Khalifa. Cocktails are served up in glasses shaped like Canon lenses and disguised as a box of takeaway noodles. Entertainment runs amuck in the restaurant, with regular live performances by sumo wrestlers, the Mario brothers, and sword fighters keeping the diners entertained. There’s even a corner for playing classic video games! And although Miss Tess sounds mysterious and imaginary, she’s actually real – and is a regular sight at the restaurant. TALKING POINT

Creating

beautiful homes! Columbian interior designers Tatiana and Monica talk about their early design influences and how Dubai has become a home and place of work for them Monica (left) and Tatiana

48 |

T

here are some ideas, which are refreshing and very relatable. That’s what C’est ici is all about, a homegrown concept by two talented Columbia designers —Tatiana and Monica. They can restyle and redesign rooms or entire homes. They also work specifically on decluttering and re-organising walk-in-wardrobes and another popular service that they offer is styling dinner parties, from catering to beautiful table settings. Roma Arora spoke to the talented duo about the art of design and styling.

Tell us something background?

about

your

Tatiana: I am from Bogota, Colombia. I have been living in Dubai for six years and a half. Although I am a political scientist, I have a great interest and passion for art and interior design. I grew up with a very interesting mix of influences. My father is a politician in my home country and my mum is a journalist but also an artist. I have been surrounded all my life by paints, artists, writers, dancers, and architects. That defines my personality in a lot of ways. Monica: I was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia. My parents wanted me and my sisters to study abroad; hence I studied law in the UK where I met my husband Emmanuel Durou. We moved to Dubai nine years ago. While my legal background has very little to do with interior design, I have always been inspired and passionate about interiors. Building my home in Dubai and our different properties around the world was the beginning of my journey. The tipping point was when my family expanded and I wanted to have a work-life balance.

Can you remember the first space that really made an impact on you? Tatiana: The first space that made the impact was the neighborhood near my ballet lessons in

Paris. We used to live in France when I was four years old and my mum used to dance ballet in one of the most beautiful academies in Paris in Le Marais. I can still feel the smell of the wood of the old floors, the high windows and ceilings with antique chandeliers. The view from the classrooms was overwhelming. The building had an inner courtyard and I remember that there was a big old tree, which was fascinating overlooking the building.

Tatiana and Monica give a design tour of one of their favourite makeovers of a villa located in the heart of Al Safa 2. The villa belongs to the French - Sudanese expat family who recently moved to Jumeirah, and needed a significant change to their new casa in Dubai. The villa has been transformed to a contemporary edgy yet classic homely space.

Monica: My house back in Colombia. I was brought up in Colombia in a beautiful house built by my parents from scratch. The house was surrounded by one of the most beautiful forests in Rosales, located in Bogota at the heart of the city. Bringing botanicals home brings me back to my origins, which I love. My mama built and designed the house and it was something out of this world. She travelled around the world, to find every single piece and transform into a home.

What is the best interior design lesson you’ve learnt? Tatiana: The best interior design lesson I have ever learnt is that paint colour really makes an impact not only in our spaces but also in our psyche. The use of colour influences our mood and state of mind, so you better choose colours that help not only to upgrade your rooms but also uplift your heart. Monica: The best interior lesson that I have learnt since we started this journey is going for the imperfect look and make it personal. Perfection is definitively boring in all perspectives. If you go into a room and it's all perfect, you don't feel comfortable. A home interior is not an abstract thing, it is about people, and it’s about the way you feel, the way you interact. It's about family and friends; it's the backdrop to your life.

The dining area is all about whites and natural colours . The dramatic lighting is one of the highlights of this space

Trends by Tatiana and Monica

Botanicals: They are trending and are a very quick fix to space. They are also very affordable so, they will stick in 2018. Hanging plants and exotic indoor plants will definitively be a must in 2018. Plant accessories: Whether is gold, copper or solid colours, retailers are getting inventive with plant accessories. We are looking forward to seeing creative pieces for greenery. Black and White: They are definitively a must in 2018. While these mixes have been in trend for centuries, black and white will be coming back strongly. Teal: This colour shade has been influential and we will probably see more versions of it in 2018. Velvet love: We love velvet and we will be seeing more of in New Year.

The girls room looks adorable with pink curtains and snowy white beds. There's room for ample sunlight through big windows

Quick tips to transform the look of your house

1. Painting the walls make the biggest impact in a room and is not very expensive here. The trick is to stick to one colour palette and build a story with darker and lighter tones of that palette. 2. Clean up the oldies. We love tradition, and items that are memories, but stick to the good ones and say goodbye to the old and bad ones. Decluttering your house is one of the most cost-effective exercises to transform a space. 3. Add greenery and plants accessories. This is a very nice and cheap way to change the look and feel of a home.
