Tear & Share is a project that focuses on development of peoples competencies in regards to the realisaton of their own existing skills as well as the oppurtunity to learn new skills and share these with others. The design solution is perforated business cards, which would be given out to the residents of the area. We also designed a network board on which the cards could be placed. In addition to this, visual aids were designed to nudge residents to use the cards and connect these to the board.

How might we nudge the residents of Sønderparken and KorskÌrparken to share their skills and interact with eachother?


The Dual Nudge: The principle nudge is the act of getting people to write down their occupation on to the business cards provided. This encourages people to give themselves a professional title which will in turn improve their self-worth or inspire them to achieve more. A second nudge was needed to motivate people to now use their business cards. This took the form of a board onto which people could place their cards. Not only does this create more interaction betweeen community members, but it can also urge people to network in terms of possible business opportunities, volunteering at the pavilion or other social activities that has value. This long term nudge has the purpose to create a more value-based social and urban identity.


A Universal Problem. Self motivation and pride are two traits that a person may need for success in both their professional and personal lives. However these are developed over time and not everyone may experience them. Regardless of whether its here in Fredericia or towns all over the world, everyone may need a little nudge to be inspired. The proposed solution to this problem can be implemented anywhere, anytime and with little cost. Everyone has the ability to master a skill and this project will help them realise that and encourage them to both use it and share it.


A Closed Off Community. The challenge presented to us described a very timid community. People weren’t willing to share what their abilitis, interests or skills were and it was observed that there was littile to no nteraction between residents. This may have been because there simply was no introduction for communication or people were simply not aware of their own skills.


Interaction Through Inspiration. By providing a platform that invites people to share details about themselves, we hope to see an increased amount of interaction between residents. A network of local professionals will become role models to those who may not be utilising their skills and inspire them to achieve their own goals.


Measurables. Short Term: Interaction between residents. The use of services offered by locals. Registration of new volunteers. Long Term: Ask children what they would like to be when they gow up before and after the intervention. Increased number of professionals in the area.
