Opening up about Bharat, Katrina said that although she wasn’t director Ali Abbas Zafar’s first choice for the film, and that it was Priyanka Chopra, she is still happy that it has come to her. She also added that Ali Abbas Zafar writes interesting characters for her and that she feels fortunate to have bagged characters like in ‘Zero’ and ‘Bharat’. This character (during the circus), I had forgotten a few years back, so I had to go back and research from my own life and watch old movies of mine. I did remember it in some haze, so I had a tough time during this one.” There are seven phases in the character’s life and the actor took a lot of hardship in playing the youngest character of the man in the circus. The most recent extra-musical affair that many in DFW experienced was with none other than the music of Arijit Singh who wowed the audience with his soulful voice and enchanting rendering of the guitar and piano. A seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience in management, marketing and setting up green field projects, Dheeraj has launched a diverse array of products from natural healthcare beauty, television channels, motorcycles and tractors, to kitchen appliances and sodas. However, we know Dheeraj as ‘The Media Man’. The man who understands the pulse of the media and how it operates making him an integral part of FunAsia’s media ambitions.
Sam Thakkar acquired FunAsia in August 2017. Dheeraj was his friend for a long time. With such an extensive media background Sam had to look no further than his friend to be a part of his dream project. With Dheeraj’s understanding of the marketplace globally they joined hands to expand the Thakkar group media business within the US and outside India”. He says “Sam’s vision is to provide entertainment at the best price, the best quality and best quantity to the South Asian diaspora, and that is what we together are set to achieve” He along with Sam have great ideas of expansions for FunAsia. Recently with Radio Mirchi’s Partnership the company has already expanded to more than 15 different states in America, and the first overseas expansion starts with launch of Funasia Radio UAE in August this year and then expanding into the MENA region.. And we hear investments already made setting up a backend in India for certain activities. There are many more projects lined up to make Funasia the major media player in the South Asian podium. Dheeraj is a very well-travelled man. He has probably not missed seeing any place in the world whether it be on personal or professional tours. He loves to play golf and Bridge in his free time. He is also a foody and tries different cuisines. However, Indian food is his favorite. He lives quite a well-balanced life and follows the principle of early to bed and early to rise with great work ethics. I wonder if that is what makes him so wise.
Almost, two decades ago, he made a conscious choice to join Zee Telefilms, the largest Media Company in India, as head of North and East Indian Operations. Dheeraj’s doubled the sales in the first year. He then took on to FunAsia’s motto is ‘Bringing the community together’ and with Dheeraj launch the American operations of Zee as one of the leaders of the FunAsia team we are very proud of him to Telefilms. Growing it from one channel be serving the community in such an extensive manner.
