Dear Residents, Business Owners and Guests of the City of Lauderhill,

The job of the City Manager is to oversee the operations of the City of Lauderhill under the leadership and direction of the Mayor and City Commissioners. For a little over a year now, I have had the privilege of serving first as your acting City Manager and now as your permanent City Manager.

There are many aspects of this position that are truly rewarding. First, I love this community, and I have been serving it for more than 25 years. Second, the staff here are truly committed to our residents and are very talented. Collectively, our goal is to make Lauderhill better everyday. Third, we appreciate every resident that makes Lauderhill their home. Our residents are the best in Broward. Serving them is an honor and a privilege. I am truly humbled to be part of such an amazing community and such a fantastic team.

Over the last year, we have witnessed unique and unprecedented challenges worldwide: from COVID-19 to civil unrest, and, in some communities, extreme weather events. With the situation everchanging and the future uncertain, what I can tell you is that Lauderhill is resilient. Lauderhill is strong, and we are proud.

At the direction of the Commission, we have been serving our residents with testing and vaccination sites. We have been offering programs on wellness and even prosperity as it pertains to surviving these tough times. Food drives and massive mask and PPE giveaways were organized. We’ve supported businesses and start-ups with seminars on how to access assistance such as the Paycheck Protection Program. We continue to provide our residents with quality services while keeping them and our staff safe.

Amid so much uncertainty, area companies have pivoted, adapting their goods and services to these times. This edition of Destination Lauderhill introduces you to some of our enterprising local treasures, as it is imperative that we, as a community, support our City’s small businesses. Lauderhill’s mix of places to live, shop, dine and play is unique. Although often imitated, there is no place like our home – our Lauderhill.
